Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Prehistoric Downpour

Language was like the plague of the Black Death.

The moment the Ape King touched the branch, an invisible force burst forth, centered around the branch.

As the Ape King uttered a cry akin to the splitting of heaven and earth.

The entire tribe suddenly learned the ability to speak.

The Ape-men who had just encountered language were stunned for a moment before they began to panic en masse.

They shouted and cried out in anguish, as if the sky were about to fall.

The Ape-men had never experienced something like this.

For tens of thousands of years, communicating with limbs and cries, the Ape-men suddenly felt a part of their lives ruthlessly stripped away.

Chen Yi gazed at the group of Ape-men.

The Ape-men could not help but return the gaze, their expressions fearful and scared.

Chen Yi knew they would need time to adapt.

After contemplating, His figure flashed and disappeared.

Flames blazed under the natural rock shelters.

The Ape-men saw the figure disappear and panic completely exploded among the tribe.

The first Ape King to be bestowed with language lowered his head, muttering in shock:

"That is fire..."

......

Even from the peak of a high mountain, God could still see the situation of those Ape-men.

Suddenly having a language to communicate, the social Ape-men felt panicked by such an anomaly.

But for social animals, panic always prompts them to huddle together.

Huddling brought them communication.

In the first few days, the Ape-men dared not speak, fearing the intonations, but as night fell and inevitable communication occurred, they unintentionally started using language.

Language is an invisible syphilis.

They panicked because of the language, yet in the panic-induced huddling, they learned to communicate using language.

Once tainted with language, it was difficult to ever be rid of it.

A year later, the Ape-men abruptly realized they had grown accustomed to the presence of language.

They discovered that in visible places, the existence of language enabled them to coordinate more delicately, hunt more ferocious beasts, and communicate more precisely.

They gradually became...

less dependent on gestures to indicate something.

And in the intangible realms, they faintly perceived that emotions among them were more easily conveyed; happiness, anger, sorrow, and joy could be expressed with simple words.

The language was precise, and their thinking became precise along with it.

A year ago they could not have imagined what language looked like, and a year later, no one wanted to imagine what it would be like without language.

Under the leadership of the Ape King, the Ape-men referred to the presence that brought them language...

as fire.

["You were not born to be beasts."]

The first Ape King to know language would never forget these words.

As he learned to ponder further from language, a novel question quietly sprouted in his heart.

"If not to be beasts, then what are we to be?"

The long-held beliefs of the Ape-men were insufficient to answer the question in his heart.

He did not understand.

.........…

.........…

Time was fleeting in the eyes of Chen Yi.

He saw the Ape-men worshipping the flames at sunrise, their expressions solemn, dancing, jumping, or prostrating... through various, extremely physically demanding actions, they expressed their reverence for Him.

They treated the flames as their own image.

So, God pondered the upcoming matters.

The sun rose and then fell.

Before Chen Yi could finish pondering,

the world suddenly showed signs of an unusual change.

In the distant frontier lands, the Ancient Chaos that had lain dormant for many years was now stirring restlessly.

That Chaos had no thoughts of its own, merely embodying the Primordial Will of the entire world.

The world's will was expelling the outsiders, along with the creations they made upon the land.

God lifted his face at the summit of a high mountain, gazing at the Ancient Chaos.

He had a premonition that some unprecedented disaster was about to erupt from within the Ancient Chaos.

Destruction, unease, restlessness... Chaos imparted an indescribable touch to people.

It all resembled the calm before a storm.

If unchecked, the flourishing life of this world would have to endure a massive extinction.

That was what He wished to avoid.

Chen Yi gazed at the Ancient Chaos.

He extended his hand, pointing toward the world's boundary.

In the blink of an eye, God's figure flashed to the world's edge.

He stood above the tumultuous, surging sea, facing the once-dominant Ancient Chaos.

As if in fear of Him, the Chaos quickly withdrew a massive distance as He approached.

Chen Yi gazed into the depths of the Chaos.

"This power..."

A mysterious force was condensing deep within the Chaos, a force not unfamiliar to Chen Yi.

It was the power that had tried to engulf Him in darkness when He first came to this world, a force potent enough to touch the soul.

Chen Yi stared at the Chaos, his existence not yet stable, unsure if he could enter the deep Chaos and completely shatter that immense force.

But...

Why not let it erupt earlier?

Rather than watching the coalescence of Chaos, drowning the land at the critical moment and returning the world to darkness, it would be better to detonate that catastrophe prematurely, before it gathered at its peak.

God looked at the mainland where life thronged, and then at the nearby Chaos.

He was measuring the distance.

Thus, God walked on the water.

As He moved forward, with every step, the Ancient Chaos rapidly recoiled a huge distance.

The scene above the sea was extraordinarily grand, from afar, His every slight gesture caused the boundless Ancient Chaos a great reaction.

Until God deemed it the right time, Chen Yi finally stopped.

God extended his hand, light gathered from all directions into His hand, instantly darkening the heavens and the sea surface.

The Chaos suddenly boiled up, stirring the seawater into waves, but He stood like a tower upon the sea, immovable, until the light left His palm and fell into the darkness.

Boom!

The hidden force within the center of the Chaos was suddenly ignited.

The long-gathering singularity, encountering the external light, exploded instantly, the darkness blasting violently from the deepest reaches of the Chaos, as Chen Yi saw the mysterious force surge out of it.

He witnessed the power that belonged to the Primordial Will.

It was a pale-colored mighty force, like rolling thunder in the night sky, branching out.

It extended in all directions, gathered, then accompanied by the sound of the sky tearing, burst violently, disintegrating mid-air.

The pale might swept through the boiling sea with great speed, nearing the land already largely spent, only to see it condense into a mist during the process, temporarily clouding the entire prehistoric landscape.

An unprecedented prehistoric deluge was poised to take the historical stage unannounced, completely altering the form of all life!

In later generations,

it would be called the Magic Tide.

And after the proliferation of theology...

it would be referred to as the pale sudden rain that heralds the coming of the end times.
