Chapter 24 - 017 Behind the Scenes Mastermind

The number six landing pad was located on the sixth floor of Cole Port Prison.

Starting from Yang Ming's cell, one only needed to pass through two security corridors to reach the connecting deck.

To anyone observing, this escape route seemed nearly perfect without any guard interference.

The difficulties Yang Ming and his group needed to resolve for the prison break seemed to be only two: a functional small spacecraft and the guard cannons outside the prison.

In the narrow and deserted corridor, two figures were briskly walking close to the wall, with security cameras successively locking onto their figures.

Kolev followed behind Yang Ming, the elderly man just wearing a jacket over his prison clothes and having switched to boots, was continuously persuading Yang Ming in a weak voice,

"Young first mate, I've thought it over seriously, we should now think of a way to take over their control center, the control center! Instead of knowingly heading towards the tiger's den!"

"We need to go slower," Yang Ming said, "That way, we can give the mastermind behind this some time to prepare, aged first mate."

"My dear deceitful man! You're their inside mole, aren't you?" Kolev glared at Yang Ming's back, "Ahead is the landing pad, there will definitely be several powerful mechanical guards waiting to shoot us down, we can't engage the mechanical guards, we need to find those easy-to-knock-down guards who are drowsy right now."

"Keep your voice down!" yelled Yang Ming. "If you don't follow their script, they will definitely sound the alarm!"

"Their script is to have us die on the number six landing pad!" Kolev argued vehemently.

"We can only find opportunities within seeming desperate situations!"

"But this is—"

"Shush!"

Yang Ming made a crouching gesture, and both of them crouched down at the same time.

Peering through the small window in the corridor, Yang Ming quietly observed the landing pad.

"Did you notice?" Yang Ming asked, "The two cameras above us are turned off."

"Oh yes," Kolev whispered, "They have been monitoring us all along but chose not to here, there must be an ambush ahead."

The size of the landing pad was comparable to a football field, and a two-person small spacecraft was silently parked there, seemingly without anything unusual.

The cameras positioned around the landing pad were also off.

Yang Ming thought briefly.

If this was a trap, then their entire journey from the cell here was under surveillance, which could already prove their crime of escape; leaving video in the 'execution ground' would actually make it easy to expose flaws.

"There's definitely an ambush ahead; we should think of a way to attack the control center," the old man muttered under his breath.

Yang Ming smiled and said, "First mate, can you analyze it using your vast experience?"

"Analyze what?"

"Currently, three factions have their sights set on me. The only thing I can confirm is that one faction wants me alive; the goals of the other two factions are unclear."

Yang Ming asked, "Under these circumstances, what are the chances this escape will allow us to leave safely?"

"Zero."

Kolev's beard trembled as he said, "Trust me, it's absolutely zero."

"Alright," Yang Ming said, "You stay here later on, it's temporarily safe, okay?"

"We need a plan! We need a plan! I won't go on a suicide mission with you!"

"Don't worry, I'm confident."

Before Kolev could speak again, Yang Ming had already darted away in a crouch.

He moved as agilely as a black cat, heading straight for the spacecraft at the center of the landing pad.

"Oh, crap!"

Kolev hadn't expected the young man to suddenly run.

Just as the old man was about to stand up, a bright light from a laser gun firing appeared in the corner; a trace of red light flashed around the young man who was now sprawling on the ground.

Kolev quickly crouched down, breathing rapidly and furrowing his brows deeply.

This interesting young man had paid the price for his recklessness, plunging them both into desperate straits, which was really...

Wait, something wasn't quite right?

As Kolev was about to sneak away, he continued watching through the narrow window, focusing intently on Yang Ming.

Several mechanical guards emerged from the corner, followed by two balding old men.

The warden Gulipa, leaning on a civilized cane;

And the always humble and nodding Bailin following beside him.

Kolev couldn't hear what they were saying, but Warden Gulipa had already looked towards the small window, and the two mechanical guards turned and walked in Kolev's direction.

Kolev frowned, knowing that this matter had already been messed up by the man in front, but his chances of winning were slim anyway; it couldn't entirely be blamed on the young man, it was just that the warden was too cunning.

At this moment Kolev did not move his feet, quietly waiting for the mechanical guards to approach, still watching Yang Ming.

Kolev's premonitions were growing stronger.

Something might happen next... No, something definitely would happen next!

Suddenly!

The lying Yang Ming almost flew up sideways, his fists and feet smashing simultaneously into the two mechanical guards beside him!

Two mechanical heads coated with blue paint were thrown into the air.

What strong muscular strength!

What incredible body coordination!

Kolev stared at the scene, his mouth agape, unable to close it for a moment.

Not just Kolev, both Gulipa and Bailin were also greatly astonished; Gulipa hadn't even managed to draw his gun, and four mechanical guards had already lost their ability to move, their heads smashed directly!

An iron-grip like hand grabbed Warden Gulipa's throat and lifted him straight up.

Yang Ming had not a single scratch on his forehead and was now calmly gazing at Gulipa, his left hand pressing towards his jacket pocket was gently pinched by Yang Ming's other hand.
