Anthony held onto Sophia's neck tightly, his whole body tense.
Sophia held Anthony with one hand and took out her phone with the other, intending to contact Robert to pick up their child. However, she found out that her phone was dead, and she didn't even know his number.
"Sophia, you finally came back," Abigail's sharp voice sounded.
Sophia frowned when she saw Abigail standing downstairs of her apartment building with a grim expression.
"Ah... a ghost..." Abigail screamed when she saw the child in Sophia's arms.
When Anthony heard Abigail call him a ghost, he resisted and trembled all over.
"Don't be afraid, baby, I'm here with you. Everything's okay," Sophia quickly comforted Anthony.
"Baby?" Abigail realized and angrily said, "No wonder you didn't marry Master Garcia. You've had a child out of wedlock and gave birth to a cursed little demon!"
"You shut up!" Sophia glared at Abigail with anger. "You are the greedy demon! " She hurriedly took Anthony to the elevator, who was frightened by the argument.
Abigail grabbed Sophia. "You can't leave. You offended Mrs. Mia and you must kneel down and apologize to me. I won't let you ruin our whole family."
"Let go of me." Sophia forcefully broke free from Abigail's grip. "Don't scare the child."
The argument attracted many onlookers. Abigail's eyes flashed with malice, and she fell to the ground.
"Ah...I'm so unlucky. My daughter became a mistress and had a child out of wedlock. I just said a few words to her, and she hit me..."
"Who is the mistress? Don't talk nonsense," Sophia angrily glared at Abigail who framed her.
"Oh my God, being a mistress is so shameful,"people around began to whisper.
"What's wrong with my mother? Which mother doesn't love her daughter? She hit her mother just because she said a few words. This daughter is too vicious," said Sophia's daughter.
"That's right. This shameless mistress who hits her mother is more poisonous than a snake," someone else chimed in.
"Don't listen to her nonsense. I never became a mistress or hit her. She deliberately fell down," Sophia explained with a pale and sad face.
"Daughter, please, don't be a mistress and ruin someone else's family. Mom is kneeling in front of you. Please spare others. Other wives have even committed suicide by cutting their wrists. Don't you feel remorse?" Abigail knelt directly in front of Sophia.
"Oh my God, did this woman cause someone to cut their wrists and commit suicide?"
"Too vicious, what's the point of living for such a vicious daughter? Just die already.""I never thought there would be such a disgusting person in our apartment."
"Abigail, if you like acting so much, go ahead and act. I won't accompany you." Sophia felt an unprecedented sense of humiliation, but she could only leave with Anthony in her arms. Only by leaving could she prevent Abigail from continuing to slander her.
Inside the apartment, she was trembling with anger, but she was more worried about Anthony.
"Baby, let me pour you a glass of water." She wanted to put Anthony down.
But Anthony's arms around Sophia tightened even more.
Seeing this, Sophia didn't let go of Anthony.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here with you and won't leave you." She comforted him. "It's okay, you're my favorite baby, I won't let anyone hurt you."
Upon hearing Sophia's words, Anthony made a choking sound in his throat and buried his head in her arms.
Sophia's voice trembled as she sang a nursery rhyme that Anthony liked, and he slowly relaxed in her arms.
Today's sunshine was particularly warm, but it couldn't warm her heart. Abigail's despicable means to make her kneel in front of Mia were beyond words.
She sat on the balcony with Anthony in her arms, unwilling to think about the unpleasant things that had happened today, and tried to calm herself down.
Anthony seemed to sense that Sophia was very quiet, and he poked his head out from her arms.
"What...are you doing?"
Sophia closed her eyes with a smile on her lips and placed her right hand next to her ear, saying, "I'm listening to the sound of the wind."
Anthony looked at her with confusion, then followed Sophia's lead."The wind is just blowing, what's so nice about it?" he asked.
"It's not about that," Sophia replied with a gentle expression. "Close your eyes and feel it with your heart. Listen to the wind whispering and singing."
Anthony followed Sophia's lead once again.
"Do you feel the peace in your heart?" Sophia asked Anthony after a while.
Anthony nodded his head lightly and softly said, "The wind is singing..."
Sophia affectionately kissed Anthony's forehead and asked him as he opened his big eyes, "Baby, are you feeling better now?"
Anthony nodded his head again.
Sophia smiled affectionately and asked, "You followed me out without saying a word. Your dad will be worried. Should I take you back?"
Anthony hugged Sophia tightly when he heard this and said, "No...no...don't leave me..."Sophia felt sorry for him and said, "If you don't want to go back, how about we have lunch? It's noon, and we should eat. Otherwise, I'll be too weak to hold you."
Anthony finally let go of Sophia.
After lunch, Anthony fell asleep. Sophia carefully placed him on the sofa, covered him with a thin blanket, and went to tidy up the room.
After Abigail's trouble today, Sophia would definitely become famous in the community. She had to move away quickly to avoid any more trouble.
After a busy day, she went to the bathroom to take a shower. "Anthony, are you awake?" Sophia asked absentmindedly as she stepped out of the bathroom, but when she saw who was there, she froze. "Master Miller, you've taken my son," she said, trying to explain.
"Sophia, we are already husband and wife. I will help you with anything you want, but I don't need you to use this kind of method to win my favor," Robert said, his voice tinged with restrained anger.
Sophia was frustrated after being misunderstood by Robert all day, and she lost her temper. "Yes, I did use this method to win your favor. What are you going to do about it? Come and get me if you dare!" she said, goading him.
Robert paused for a moment, then turned to face Sophia. His eyes showed a hint of displeasure. "Don't say things you don't mean," he said.
Sophia's face was tense, revealing her inner anger. She deliberately provoked him, "What's wrong? Are you afraid, or is there something wrong with you?"
As she picked up her towel, the light fell on her smooth and delicate skin, outlining an indescribable beauty. Robert's eyes showed a hint of annoyance, and he reached up to loosen his tie and unbutton his shirt...
Sophia was startled and asked nervously, "What are you doing?"
"You said I wouldn't dare, didn't you?" Robert's deep and alluring eyes locked onto Sophia's, "Well, I'll give you a chance to see if I really won't dare."
Before Sophia could react, Robert had already trapped her in his embrace. His kiss landed on her lips, carrying his dominant and overbearing nature as he forcefully invaded her, conquering her completely.
