Weeks later Kagome woke feeling sick like she had been feeling for the last eight weeks.
It did not help that the heat from the sun was hard. She got out of bed and made her way outside; slowly, just as the sun hit her, she was covered in a bed of sweat and threw up. Sango rushed to her. "Kagome!"
"I'm ok; I'm ok." Kagome wiped her mouth and stood up. She still felt hot.
"Thank Kami that this heat will be gone within the next month or so," Kagome said with a small smile. Miroku handed Kagome some water, and she drank it. They didn't know what was making Kagome sick. But Kaede had an idea. Kaede watched as Kagome's friends helped her sit.
Sesshomaru had spent the last eight weeks reading more of his father's books, trying to see if there was anything else he missed; there was nothing new. Sesshomaru also went on a journey fighting many demons to see if his power had grown; yes, he fought with more will and emotion, but the power he wanted had not shown itself. Sesshomaru decided that as soon as winter came, he would find the Miko.
The heated days were killing her; If you were watching her, you could see her in a field, picking herbs and standing straight ever so often, wiping the sweat from her head.
"Come, child; it is too hot."
Kagome smiled at Kaede. "Im fine, really,"
"Ye may be child, but I still insist you come in."
Kagome would not fight her; she smiled and did as she was told; truth be told, her back was hurting. Ever since her meeting with the Lord, she had not been feeling herself. As the days turned into weeks, Kagome was getting better about not being so sick. Still, moments of illness would hit her, but she kept it to herself and pushed it aside when she was with her friends.
Soon it would be cold, so that night, Kagome went to the hot springs; she didn't like going in the winter, even though the water would still be hot. She soaked, enjoying the moment alone, when she thoughtlessly ran her hand over her belly. There was a small bump, her hand ran over it, and she thought to herself for a moment, at first a smile came to her face, then horror as something sinking crossed her mind.
"Noo, I, I can't be," she whispered to herself; she quickly got her clothes back on, trying to put her boots on as she ran to Kaede. She didnt even take note of how cold it was already getting. She burst into the door with tears on her face. Miroku stood up quickly, "Sango, Shippo, care to help me get firewood?" They didn't answer; they just stood and followed Miroku out.
Kaede knew that what she thought was true, and Kagome, poor Kagome, had just become aware.
"Oh, Kaede," Kagome fell into Kaede's waiting arms.
"Kagome, it will be alright, child,"
Kagome cried and cried till she was asleep. Kaede feared for Kagome's heart; this could be a good thing but also a very bad thing. Dangerous.
After putting Kagome in bed, Kaede went outside, her hands behind her back. Everyone looked up at her. She sighed; she had to tell them; they would notice. After an hour of silence, watching the fire, they retired back into the hut. They watched her sleep, and Kaede finally spoke, "Kagome is-
But Kaede didn't get to finish,
"I'm Pregnant," Kagome said, sitting up, but then she fell again, she passed out. Kaede rushed to her side. Sure that she was safe and soundly sleeping, Kaede and the others talked again.
"I'm so scared for her," Sango said
"Yes, and we still don't know who the father is," Miroku said rubbing his chin.
"Yeah, and wait till Inuyasha finds out," Shippo pointed out. They didn't want to think about how he would act.
"I'd say Kagome just reached four months," Kaede said; that's how long it had been since her body was taken. Sango looked at her. Kaede knew they were all worried; they worried Kagome's little sweet heat would not be able to bear this.
"This may or may not be a good thing," Kaede said'
They all sat silent, not knowing what to do or say. They could only be there for her, protect her, and help her care for the tiny thing now growing inside her.
