Ruan Liuzheng heard every word crystal clear, and so did the man beside her. However, like him, she had learned to walk past without a reaction.
Leizi was still pleading with Juanzi, "Juanzi, why don't you ask Dr. Ning for mercy? You didn't offend him."
Juanzi replied with annoyance, "If you knew this would happen, why did you do it in the first place?"
After returning to the office, Ruan Liuzheng quietly asked him, "When is the court session? Did you ask for compensation? How much?"
He glanced at her, "That's none of your concern."
"I'm just curious! Is it a large sum of money? Granny Cai's son doesn't seem wealthy." She wasn't speaking up for Leizi, but rather she thought of him as a good man who just wanted justice, not expecting him to actually demand financial compensation, especially when he certainly wasn't short on money.
"What, feeling sympathetic now?" he teased lightly.
