Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten: Trapped in the Shadows

Lucas's footsteps echoed through the alleyways, his body a blur as he maneuvered between buildings, weaving through the streets with unnatural speed. His dark fur shimmered under the dim streetlights, and his metal claws scraped against the concrete, creating a faint but eerie sound as he darted into the shadows.

Behind him, the sounds of his pursuers were growing fainter—Midoriya's voice calling out, Bakugo's shouts of frustration filling the night air, and Best Jeanist's calm, authoritative tone. But none of it mattered to Lucas. He had one focus: escape.

He had done this countless times before. He knew how to slip through the cracks, how to vanish before anyone could figure out where he had gone. Tonight, however, something was different. The feeling in the air was heavy with something more than just the usual adrenaline rush of being pursued by heroes.

Midoriya

The kid's voice echoed in his mind, full of confusion. "Who is this guy?" Midoriya had asked, his curiosity unmistakable. "No older than us, but can outwit us…"

Lucas didn't know how to answer that. He wasn't a hero. He wasn't even a villain. He was... something else. A ghost in the machine. A nightmare that had taken on a life of its own.

But that wasn't important right now. Right now, Lucas needed to get away.

He turned a corner into a dark alleyway, his breath steady despite the chase. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing on him. That moment of hesitation when they'd all stopped, their eyes locked on him, wondering who he really was. That moment when Midoriya's green eyes had flickered with recognition and confusion. It had unsettled him more than he cared to admit.

It wasn't about them. It wasn't about proving himself to anyone. But there was something about the way Midoriya had looked at him—something that had made him feel... vulnerable.

"Doesn't matter," Lucas muttered to himself, shaking his head, pushing the thought away.

---

Behind him, Bakugo's voice rang out in frustration, harsh and full of venom. "DAMNIT! Get back here, you freak!" The explosions from his palms sounded like a distant warzone, echoing through the city streets as Bakugo fired off another blast, his fury palpable. But no matter how much noise Bakugo made, no matter how much he raged, Lucas was always one step ahead.

"Pathetic," Lucas muttered under his breath as he took another corner, grinning to himself.

He was faster than them. They were predictable, bound by the rules of their profession. He wasn't. And that was his advantage.

---

But Midoriya? Midoriya had something else. He wasn't just angry or frustrated. There was something in his gaze—something more than just a hero-in-training. A hunger for the truth. The truth about Lucas.

That thought lingered. It bothered Lucas, but only for a moment.

"I'm going to find out who you really are," Midoriya's voice echoed in his mind. The determination in his words was clear. Lucas could feel it. He wasn't going to stop, not until he found the answers he was looking for.

"Let him try," Lucas muttered, his voice low, as his eyes scanned the city around him, every corner checked for threats, every shadow inspected for movement.

---

"Alright, you two," Best Jeanist's voice broke through the chaos of the chase. "We'll let him go for now. It's not worth pushing further tonight." His calm voice cut through the tension like a knife. "We'll discuss this later. For now, let's get back to the agency. And Midoriya, Bakugo—get your hair done."

The mention of their hair cut through the moment like a sudden burst of normality, and Lucas couldn't help but smirk to himself. As if this was some sort of schoolyard game.

---

Just as Lucas allowed himself to relax, to believe that he had successfully escaped, a sudden pressure slammed into him. His body collided with something hard—something solid. His momentum carried him forward, and before he could react, a door swung open, catching him off guard.

He stumbled back, trying to regain his balance, but it was too late. The door had been a trap, and now he was surrounded.

His sharp, mechanical eyes darted around. The room he had stumbled into was dimly lit, and he could make out the shadows of several figures standing just beyond the edge of his vision.

Before he could even react, a familiar voice spoke from the darkness.

"Well, well… Looks like we've got ourselves a little fox in the henhouse."

Lucas's breath hitched for a moment. The voice. It was one he had hoped to avoid hearing for a long time.

---

From the shadows, a figure stepped forward—his form tall, with dark purple hair and a twisted smile on his face. It was Tomura Shigaraki. The leader of the League of Villains.

Behind him, a few familiar faces lingered—Dabi, with his blue flames barely visible in the dim light; Toga, smiling in her usual manic way; and Spinner, standing by, his reptilian eyes glowing faintly.

"Well, look at this," Dabi said, his voice tinged with amusement. "Seems like our little nightmare came looking for trouble."

Lucas felt a tightness in his chest. He knew what this meant. This wasn't just a run-in. This was deliberate. They were hunting him.

He growled softly, his form flickering as if considering changing, shifting into something more monstrous. But he stopped himself. He wasn't a mindless beast. Not yet, at least.

"You're in the wrong place, kid," Shigaraki said, stepping closer. His fingers twitched as if itching to touch something, anything. "This little charade you're playing? It's over. We've been keeping an eye on you."

Lucas's mind raced. His pulse quickened. His instincts told him to run, to escape, but something held him back. They were closing in, cutting off every possible route. This was a trap, and he had walked right into it.

"You've been causing quite a stir lately," Shigaraki continued, a grin spreading across his face. "We've got some business to take care of. You're either going to join us, or we're going to make you regret that you ever crossed paths with us."

Lucas's heart pounded in his chest. He was trapped. This was no longer just an escape game. This was survival.

But he wasn't about to go down without a fight.

"You'll regret thinking you could control me," Lucas spat, his voice filled with contempt, his eyes glowing faintly with the nightmare within. He was ready to face whatever came next, but he knew deep down: this was going to be a battle that would change everything.

---

The League of Villains had made their move. And for the first time, Lucas knew that he wasn't just being hunted by heroes or criminals. The world was closing in on him from all sides.
