Chapter 22 - Chapter 20: Easy victory

Due to the confusion caused by Jango, Siam, and Buchi's defeat, the pirates didn't notice that Nami had slipped away to wake up Luffy.

"Wake up, Luffy!!" Nami shouted, stepping on his head.

Luffy woke up angry.

"Was that you, Nami?!" Luffy yelled. "You stepped on my head!!"

The pirates, seeing him get up, screamed in desperation as they realized it would be impossible to defeat them now that all three were together.

"That's because you left this fight to us while you were sleeping peacefully," Nami said.

"I guess you're right," Luffy replied.

Luffy adjusted his hat and looked toward the hill.

"Oh, the butler is here," Luffy said.

"In three minutes, I'll kill you all," Kuro said.

"That's too little time! It's impossible for us!" the pirates screamed. "We can't defeat them in three minutes!"

At that moment, Kaya arrived at the battlefield.

"Kurahadol! That's enough!!" Kaya shouted, trying to stop him.

"K-Kaya?! What are you doing here?!!" Usopp yelled.

The pirates, seeing Kaya, caught a small glimmer of hope for survival—if just one of them managed to kill her.

"What a surprise, Miss Kaya. How did you get here?" Kuro asked.

"Merry told me everything," Kaya replied.

"Oh? He's still alive? I thought I finished him off," Kuro said, scaring Kaya.

"I'm sorry, Usopp-san," Kaya apologized. "I know it's too late to apologize. I couldn't believe you when you said Kurahadol was a pirate."

"That doesn't matter now! Why did you come?! I told you to run away!" Usopp shouted at her.

"But aren't you fighting here?!" Kaya asked through tears.

Looking at Kuro, Kaya told him that if he wanted the treasure, she would give it to him, but he had to leave the island.

"You don't understand, Miss Kaya. I want your treasure, but I also want to live a peaceful life. The townspeople have trusted me for these three years. That was a peaceful life," Kuro said as he recalled the moments.

"So my plan will succeed when I obtain both the treasure and peace. The incident with the pirates and your will are the two most important parts of the plan," Kuro finished.

Kaya pointed a gun at him, threatening him.

"Get out of this town!" Kaya shouted.

"You've grown stronger over these three years. A lot has happened, remember?" Kuro began.

"Since you lost your parents, we have always been together. We took walks on the ship, went to the city together, I took care of you when you were sick. We've been happy and sad together," Kuro said, reminiscing.

"I have devoted myself to you one hundred percent. I've wasted these three years doing foolish things, but I've been very patient, and it was all so that this day would come. The day I will kill you!!"

While Kuro spoke, Oliver had his eyes closed.

'This is training. Yes, that's it. He's supposedly fast, but I'm half Mink—I have to be faster than he.'

Oliver's legs unconsciously began to bend as he kept his eyes fixed on Kuro.

'I have to surpass his so-called maximum speed to help the crew against dangers that shouldn't exist. I have to be faster.'

In an instant, he appeared in front of Kuro and, channeling Electro into the palm of his hand, struck Kuro's torso, causing a small explosion that sent him flying straight into the Black Cat Pirates' ship.

"Huh?" Oliver stood in front of Kaya, staring at the Black Cat Pirates' ship.

He looked at his hand, which was clean, without any signs of blood.

"C-CAPTAIN KURO LOST!!" the pirates shouted in unison.

Oliver felt a little dizzy but remained standing.

'Did I kill him?' he wondered, seeing that Kuro wasn't moving after the hit.

"Are we still fighting?" he asked the pirates, who shook their heads. "That's good."

Oliver's vision blurred, and he fell backward, passing out—but not before seeing the system message.

Oliver opened his eyes and realized he was in an apartment.

"My home? This has to be a dream," Oliver said.

He started walking through the apartment, looking at the things on the furniture.

"I don't remember it being this well-furnished."

He reached the living room, where he saw a photograph, so he picked it up. It was distorted, and only he was visible; the person next to him was unrecognizable.

"Who was this person? I feel like they were important."

He tried to remember who they were, but nothing came to mind.

"Who were they?" he asked himself, a bit unsettled.

At that moment, he felt a slap on his face, which confused him, and then another, making him see a light.

He blinked a few times and saw that he was under a tree.

"What happened?"

He sat up a little and saw Nami hitting Luffy in the face.

"How could you wake him up like that?!" Nami yelled angrily.

"He wouldn't wake up," Luffy said.

"And you wake him up like that?!" she shouted again.

"Hey, how about you calm down for a moment and tell me what happened?" Oliver said.

They explained that after he hit Kuro, the latter was completely knocked out, so the pirates grabbed him and quickly left the place.

"And what happened to you?" Zoro asked.

"I think I was a little tired, and attacking like that took a toll on me," Oliver said, trying to ignore the dream he had.

"Food helps with exhaustion," Luffy said.

Luffy got punched in the head after saying that.

Now, they were all at a restaurant, eating to regain their strength. Since Luffy kept insisting on eating, they also went to buy supplies.

"So the kids helped Kaya get to the mansion safe and sound," Oliver said, drinking a cola.

"Yeah. She said she was going to go out to sea and become a pirate," Luffy said while eating a fish until he started choking.

He reached into his mouth and pulled out a big part of the fish's skeleton.

"Phew, I got it out," Luffy said, holding the bone.

"Idiot, if you don't relax your throat muscles, the bones will get stuck," Zoro told him.

"Sorry to interrupt, but normally, when eating fish, those parts are left behind," Nami said.

"That's why I don't eat fish. It's too much trouble eating them without those bones," Oliver said.

"Well, we've eaten. Time to go?" Zoro asked.

"Of course," Luffy said.

At that moment, the restaurant door opened, and Kaya walked in.

"There you are," Kaya said.

"Oh, hello, miss!" Luffy greeted her.

"Are you well enough to be out and about?" Nami asked.

"Yes. The illness I've had since last year was mostly mental exhaustion caused by the pain of losing my parents. Usopp-san has helped me a lot... I can't ruin my whole life by being sick," Kaya said, remembering what Usopp had done for her. "But anyway, you needed a ship, right?"

"You're giving us a ship?!" Luffy asked excitedly.

Kaya guided them to the shore, where they found the butler, Merry, waiting for them alongside a ship with a skull figurehead.

"Hey, look at that," Zoro said.

"A caravel!" Nami said as she looked at the ship.

"Wow!" Luffy exclaimed, amazed by the ship.

"It's impressive," Oliver said, getting a closer look at the Going Merry.

"I've been waiting for you. It may be an older design, but it's a ship I designed myself. It's a caravel made of wood, with an external rudder and a triangular sail. I call it the Going Merry," Merry said, introducing the ship.

"So you're the ones who bravely defeated the Black Cat Pirates with Usopp-kun. I thought you'd be bigger," he said, looking at them intently.

"Can we really have it?" Luffy asked, looking excited.

"Yes, I insist that you use it," Kaya said.

"Now I'll explain the usage method for the Krueger net; you have to adjust it by yards..." Merry started explaining to Luffy, who understood nothing.

"Oh no, no, no, explain that to me," Nami told Merry, who then began explaining it to her.

"What a cool ship!" Luffy said, looking at it up close.

"We've stocked it with everything you need for a sea voyage," Kaya informed them.

"Thanks! We really destroyed your pistol!" Luffy said.

"You're supposed to say 'We owe you one,' idiot," Zoro corrected him.

In the distance, a loud scream was heard. Looking toward the hill, they saw Usopp running down at full speed, unable to stop.

"Stop me!!" Usopp shouted.

"Usopp-san!" Kaya said, shocked to see him.

Just before he reached them, Luffy and Zoro stopped him with a kick.

"Th-Thanks," Usopp said, grateful they had stopped him.

"So you're really leaving, Usopp-san," Kaya said.

"Yeah. I'm leaving before I change my mind. Don't stop me," Usopp said, ready with a big bag of supplies.

While Usopp and Kaya talked, the group started boarding the ship to check it out.

"I'm not going to stop you. I feel like this is what you want. It's a bit sad," Kaya said.

"When I come back, I'll tell you stories of my adventures! They'll be even crazier than my usual lies!" Usopp said with a smile.

"Alright. I can't wait," Kaya said, smiling.

"And you guys! Take care. Maybe we'll meet again someday," Usopp told the pirate crew.

"Why?" Luffy asked.

"Huh? What do you mean? What an idiot, we're both going to be pirates, so we might run into each other somewhere at sea," Usopp explained.

"Shut up and get on the damn ship," Zoro told him.

"Huh?" Usopp didn't understand what he meant.

"Well, now we're nakamas," Luffy said.

Usopp looked at them, realizing they were inviting him to join a pirate crew.

"Uh...! I-I'm the captain, okay?!" he said, jumping for joy.

"IDIOT!! I'M THE CAPTAIN!!" Luffy yelled angrily.

Usopp got on the ship, and they set sail, leaving the island behind.

"Alright, everyone! To a new ship and a new nakama! Cheers!!" Luffy shouted as everyone jumped with joy to celebrate.
