IVY'S POV
I don't think I have a mother nor a father,I grew up in the streets begging for food and trying to survive. Life has been hard on me since I was a kid,not having anyone to care for me,it was just like hell. Everybody despised me, maltreated me and hated me infact I thought of stealing but I couldn't do it,at least I didn't die and I survived.
But on my 10th year birthday everything changed it was like it was planned by God,I knew it wasn't possible for me to just fall from the sky,I knew I had parents but I wasn't sure if they abandoned me or they died. That very day I went out as usual begging for food, telling them that it was my birthday so that they could shome more mercy but nobody answered me they just ignore like I was invisible. Finally the cruel people I met successfully made me miserable on my happy day,I was really hungry, thirsty,I barely had a bath talk less of wearing good clothes it was tattered and it made people run from me,I looked awful and I stink really bad. A car parked before me and a woman with two boys alighted the car"mum can't I stay in the car I really don't wanna go anywhere" he complained but the woman patted his head and smiled at him "your birthday's is in five days and I want it to be a party inviting all your friends over,hmmm or don't you want that" she asked the innocent boy and he nodded in agreement, seeing such a sweet mother made me sad "i wish i had a mother" i said to myself,i thought of begging again but I don't wanna be embarrassed in the presence of her kids.The woman left with her kids to the supermarket opposite her car,I was so tired that i dozed off resting on the car's tyre. Later the woman pushed a cart to the booth of her car and off loaded the items she bought,I was awake but still tired,the younger son waved and smiled at me but I just stared at him "mom..." he said pointing at me,I noticed the direct sunlight had been blocked by someone so I opened my eyes,the woman squatted touching my hair "awwwwwn...such a sweet little girl,did your parents leave you out here alone" she asked and I nodded slowly,she brought out some money from her purse and handed it to me,the elder brother stretched a bag of chips to me and I jacked it and tore it immediately stuffing the chips down my throat. The woman smiled at me and entered her car,while I was busy with the chips I overheard her son asking if she would leave me but I didn't give face "she is still a kid mom... can't you bring her with us" he asked and she got out of the car suddenly,she squatted again "what's your name" she asked,how would i have a name when i have no parents besides i didn't give myself a name "I...I don't have one" i replied bowing my head,she chuckled "that's okay i can just call you Ivy" she gave me a name "would you like to follow me home" she asked and my face beamed with joy nodding in agreement,she patted my head and opened the door for me to enter and she drove off."hi I'm Richard and this is my elder brother Raphael" he said smiling "I'm Ivy" i liked the name, Raphael also smiled at me but it seems like he talks less "would you play with my toys" richard asked and i nodded. That was how I was adopted my Mrs Charlotte,she was a single mother and they were living okay,I was kinda blessed with my elder brothers being popular too.
Author's POV
After four years....
She was already a full part of the family,nobody knew she was adopted except Richard's childhood friends. She was treated well and loved by her brothers "Ivy...do u wanna be late for your first day at school" Raphael asked as he picked his car keys "give me a minute " she said putting her books in her bag rushing outside to meet up with her brother,she entered the backseat and ate her breakfast quietly,Richard was still upstairs with their mom "is Richard coming too" she asked and he nodded "yeah...we are going to the supermart to get some stuffs after we drop u at school" he said starting the car, Richard entered the car "sorry I'm late i was busy with mom" Raphael drove off. The boys had a striking resemblance and also coincidentally had their birthdays on the same day,but they are just a year older than each other. A lot of people regard them as twins because of their similar characteristics. They are celebrities on the top list of the best prankster and fashion maker or reality TV shows. Soon they arrived at the school gate and they dropped her "uhm...make friend" Richard said smiling and waving at her and she nodded as they left "friends...do I have to have one" she asked herself . Ivy wasn't an extrovert nor an introvert she just had to be the way she is,most of the students noticed her quiet nature.
SCHIELDEN'S RESIDENCE
Mrs Charlotte sat on the sofa in the living room watching her favorite program,soon the boy entered the house with white nylon bags "hey mom" Raphael said pecking his mom on her forehead while Richard dropped the bags on the dinning "do you guys think she would be okay" she asked with a worrisome gesture,the boys stared at her for a while before richard replied "she would be fine" she heaved a sigh of relief "i know but she doesn't like to associate with outsider's except you two,ever since she came here she acts cold towards other people...how would she escape the trauma when she does all this" she asked again with her forehead with cold sweat. Richard smirked as he poured her a cup of coffee "she has such lame behaviors because she is someone who lacks motherly care, parental guidance...infact everyone mistreated her,now..." " Enough "Raphael yelled which made her scared,Richard patted her back "mum sip your coffee" he smirked and she obeyed "mom don't worry she would be fine" he winked.
Mrs Charlotte was not still convinced "is she depressed or she has a psychological trauma cause she behaves like a loner or sadist" she wasn't sure, Raphael frowned " mom...you can just call her and talk to her when she gets back from school, I'll be in my room if you need me" he left for his room,she bowed her head "is he upset" she asked but he nodded
ALL STARS HIGH SCHOOL
It was time for lunch in school,she brought out a box of doughnuts and a bottle of orange juice from her lunch bag. A young girl of her age cam to her "Hi... you didn't introduce yourself earlier, I'm Lena... what's your name" the short and dark skinned girl asked "I'm Ivy...Ivy Schielden" she responded snacking on her doughnuts,the girl was surprised with the surname "are you in any way related to the fake twins" she asked,Ivy couldn't help but laugh "fake twins...their nickname sucks" she thought "they are my brothers" she replied handing her a doughnut "thanks...and that's really cool" she replied receiving the doughnut
DEPUTY HIGH SCHOOL
It was closing hours already, Aurora was outside the gate waiting for her brothers but she didn't see any sign of them"where did this block heads go" she muttered to herself,a black Lexus pulled over before her and Richard wind down the window "hey Aurora...why are you still waiting here or your brothers are late again" he said laughing,she frowned dialing her brother's number again "they are always late and they can never change" she said in a cold tone "come in... I'll call your brothers to pick you up at my house" she entered the car swiftly and they drove off "hey Ivy long time no see" she smiled at her but her face remained unchanged,this made her upset and she decided to get back at her "oh...I almost forgot,you are still the cold ivy everyone knows" she smirked
Richard noticed how quiet she was "Ivy are you okay" he asked but she looked out the window,this made everyone in the car uncomfortable. Aurora's phone beeped again,it was her brother calling so she picked the call "seriously...you guys suck and I mean it this time" she was annoyed "sorry sis...but I just realized Ace told the girls we have a date,we are going to the cinema by 4:00 pm so we went to pick 'em up" Tyson paused "and sorry we didn't tell you" "can't you walk home" Ace cuts in and this made her really mad "Ace....FUCK YOU" she cuts the call in anger.
She looked out the window to calm down "do you really have to do that" Richard asked dialing Ace's number but she nodded as she wind down the window "hey Ace... actually your sis is in our car and she is going to our place,so you can just bring her things so she can have a sleepover at our house" Richard asked "yup...that would do cause we are seriously gonna be busy you know and duh... Aurora you are changing your school" she jacked the phone "what,why am I suddenly changing my school...I just joined deputy last year" she asked in a cold tone "I'll explain later" he cuts the call.
She was in rage "I hate 'em" she yelled and Raphael stopped the car,now their attention was on him "why did you stop the car" Richard asked,he heaved a sigh "I was startled" he started the car and continued to drive. Ivy didn't say anything throughout the whole drive she just watched the whole drama happen, Aurora was uncomfortable "geez...am I really gonna have a sleepover with this weirdo,urgh she is so boring" she thought.
But ivy was cool headed, it's just that she studies her friends before picking them and it was all because of her traumatic experience,she feels she doesn't need friends since she has her brothers.
