Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Might Guy

A chill ran down their spines!

Legs refused to obey the command to run for their lives!

The moment they realized the falling paper from the sky was all explosive tags, the previously quiet Sunagakure camp erupted into chaos.

The noise outside jolted the sleeping Suna shinobi awake. Irritated at first, they glanced at the shouting sentries. However, when their gazes followed the frantic pointing to the heavens, their expressions turned pale.

The group of jōnin who had been chatting moments ago now stood frozen, eyes wide in disbelief as they yelled:

"What... why are Konoha's shinobi flying?"

"Could it be that Iwa-nin are helping them?"

"Retreat! Evacuate the camp immediately!"

"Scatter! It's our only chance to survive!"

Even as they barked orders, the jōnin didn't pause. Each led small, groggy groups of Suna shinobi in a desperate escape attempt.

But could they truly escape?

The sheer number of explosive tags was staggering, covering the entire Sunagakure camp like an ominous storm cloud. No patch of sky remained untouched within the panicked shinobi's view.

Tobirama wasn't one to pinch pennies. When the Daimyō of the Land of Fire expressed his fervent support for the war and offered to cover all expenses, Tobirama made preparations to spare no expense.

Were explosive tags expensive? Of course. But they were far less costly than lives. To reduce Konoha's casualties, Tobirama was willing to spend lavishly.

This was his first battle as Hokage. Victory had to be swift, decisive, and with minimal losses.

The result? Over one million explosive tags prepared specifically for this campaign.

The dense rain of paper death fell under the pull of gravity, lighting up the Sunagakure camp with one brilliant explosion after another, like a macabre display of fireworks.

The hiss of ignitions, the dazzling flames, and the deafening booms consumed the Sunagakure encampment.

"Boom! Boom!"

The relentless explosions were like hammers pounding on the hearts of every Suna shinobi. Wherever they looked, blasts ripped through the ground, leaving deep cracks spanning hundreds of meters.

Each tag carried the power of a jōnin's Fire Release jutsu. Together, the simultaneous detonations rivaled Tobirama's famed Wood Release in sheer devastation.

Trees were reduced to ash. Massive boulders crumbled to dust. Even rivers split, creating new streams through the upheaval.

What was once a camp was now a sea of flames.

Screams. Wails. Agonized cries...

And it wasn't just this encampment. Other Sunagakure outposts stationed on the outskirts of the Land of Wind were suffering the same cataclysm.

The night sky, painted with the flickering glow of explosions, resembled daylight.

No one knew when the bombardment would end.

Those who survived the first wave stared in horror at the unceasing cascade of paper from above. Flames consumed everything—scattered limbs, pools of blood, and more tags drifting ominously downward.

All they could see was fire, destruction, and despair.

The enemy in the sky was beyond their reach.

A growing sense of helplessness gripped every Suna shinobi.

...

At Chiyo's Command Center

Here, too, explosive tags rained down.

Thankfully, Chiyo's exceptional puppet mastery provided some defense, sheltering a portion of the shinobi behind her.

Her face darkened as she dodged the aftermath of another explosion. Glancing around, her gaze lingered on the twisted faces of fallen comrades. Rage boiled within her.

Narrowing her eyes, Chiyo shouted, her voice echoing across the battlefield:

"Wind Release users, attack the sky with your jutsu!"

Her words were a beacon of hope. The surviving shinobi quickly understood her intent—if they could stir up strong winds, the Konoha shinobi wouldn't be able to aim the tags precisely.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave!"

"Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!"

"Wind Release: Gale Palm!"

A series of powerful gusts surged upward, tearing through the chaos.

The remaining Suna shinobi fixed their gazes on the airborne attackers, shouting desperately in their hearts, This has to work!

But they hadn't accounted for Tobirama's foresight. Among the airborne Konoha shinobi was Might Guy, one of Tobirama's trusted bodyguards.

When Guy saw the approaching torrent of wind-based attacks, his expression turned serious. Turning to the shinobi maintaining their formation, he said gently,

"You've done well. Leave the rest to me, the Green Beast of Konoha!"

And with that, he leaped from the group, plunging straight toward the ground below.

The stunned shinobi behind him could scarcely believe it. Was he insane? Jumping from such a height—did he not fear death?

On the ground, the Sunagakure shinobi watched in disbelief as Guy's figure hurtled toward them.

Mid-air, an intense chakra surge erupted from Guy's body as he roared:

"Eight Gates! Seventh Gate, Gate of Wonder... OPEN!"

With a deafening crack, a vibrant blue aura exploded from his body, the sheer intensity distorting the air around him.

Veins bulged across his forehead, his pupils vanished, leaving only the whites of his eyes, and his hair shot upward like flames. He was a war god descending from the heavens.

As his descent accelerated, Guy formed his hands into fists, gathering an enormous amount of compressed air.

"Daytime Tiger!"

BOOM!

A high-pressure shockwave, shaped like a massive tiger, tore through the air. The sheer force dispersed the incoming winds and roared toward the Suna encampment with unstoppable ferocity.

The recoil sent Guy soaring back toward his airborne allies, landing safely.

Below, the colossal air tiger smashed downward, its destructive energy obliterating everything in its path.

Sunagakure shinobi froze, their will to resist shattered by the overwhelming aura of the Green Beast. Some collapsed, paralyzed with fear, as the tiger bore down.

Chiyo Takes Action

Chiyo's expression turned grave the moment Guy unleashed the Gate of Wonder.

And when the Daytime Tiger appeared, her face hardened like steel. She knew—they wouldn't survive unless she acted immediately.

"The Chikamatsu Collection of Ten Puppets!"

In a blur, Chiyo unfurled a scroll, summoning ten masterfully crafted puppets, each the pinnacle of Monzaemon Chikamatsu's genius.

As a puppet master, Chiyo had reached the zenith of human ability. Each of her ten fingers controlled a puppet, and in her youth, she had used these puppets to conquer an entire castle.

But even these masterpieces brought her no comfort. The sheer power of the attack before her was beyond anything she had faced.

Controlling all ten puppets, Chiyo arranged them into a defensive formation, unleashing the sealing technique:

"Tenfold Sealing Barrier!"

Ten powerful tornadoes burst forth from the puppets, forming a massive wind wall to counter the attack.

"Quick! Use defensive ninjutsu! Hold it off at all costs!" Chiyo shouted, gritting her teeth as she struggled to maintain control over the puppets.

Her rallying cry reignited the spirits of the panicked Suna shinobi. Summoning every ounce of chakra, they unleashed jutsu in unison:

"Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!"

"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"

But the Daytime Tiger gave no time for hesitation. It descended with blinding speed, colliding with the camp in an explosion that turned the dark night into blazing daylight.

BOOM! BOOM!

The shockwave engulfed everything, sealing the fate of the Sunagakure camp.
