Chereads / Moon's Beloved / Chapter 27 - 27

Chapter 27 - 27

The Karassu estate buzzed with a newfound energy. The air felt lighter, more alive. Kairan and Serin, now officially the Alpha and Luna of the Karassu pack, had settled into their roles with an ease that surprised many. Despite the challenges of uniting their lives, they exuded a strength and partnership that inspired those around them.

Days after the confrontation with Iskendar, life seemed to return to a new normal. Hyejin had quickly become a beloved presence in their household, bonding with Junghyun, Inseo, and their mates. For Serin, Hyejin had become the mother she never had, a source of warmth and wisdom.

However, something lingered in the back of Serin's mind. The silver light that had shot from her eyes during the fight, the way Kairan's magic had emerged so powerfully—it had to mean something. The pair decided to visit their former mentor, Master Orion, a teacher from their time at the magic kingdom, to uncover the truth about their powers.

The journey to the magic kingdom brought back a rush of memories. The towering spires of the academy loomed over them as they stepped into the familiar halls. Kairan walked beside her, his hand a comforting weight on the small of her back. His usual stoicism softened into something tender when he glanced at her.

Master Orion, a man whose aura commanded respect, greeted them in his study. His silver hair shimmered like moonlight, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to see straight into their souls.

"Ah, Kairan. Serin" he said, his voice deep and resonant. "I've been expecting you."

Serin raised an eyebrow. "You have?"

Orion smiled knowingly. "You don't complete a mate bond like yours without stirring the magical threads of the world. Your powers have evolved, haven't they? Sit. Let's see what's changed."

Master Orion's study was a marvel, filled with ancient tomes, floating crystals, and a faint hum of magic in the air. He waved his hand, and a golden circle of light formed around Serin and Kairan.

"Let the bond speak" he murmured.

A soft glow surrounded Serin first. The golden circle pulsed as fire erupted in her palm, flickering between crimson and white. It danced like it had a life of its own, warm yet fierce. Then, objects around the room trembled before slowly lifting into the air, swirling gently before settling back down. The ground beneath her feet sprouted tiny vines that curled around her ankles before vanishing.

"Interesting" Orion said, stroking his beard. "Fire, telekinesis, and earth magic—a rare combination. You, Serin, embody both destruction and growth. Persephone, your wolf, influences this balance, a reminder of life and death."

Serin stared at her hands. "So that's why I could stop objects and throw them back… and the fire…"

Orion nodded. "And the vines, a reflection of your nurturing side. As Luna, you'll find these powers strengthen with your emotions. Use them wisely."

The glow shifted to Kairan, who stood still as golden flames erupted around him. Unlike Serin's fire, his blazed hotter, with streaks of blue and white. A shield of energy formed around him, shimmering like a wall of liquid light. The circle around him pulsed, and the room shook slightly.

"Ah" Orion said, his voice filled with awe. "Phoenix fire and barrier magic. Your flames destroy and cleanse, while your shields protect. The strength of an alpha amplified by the bond."

Kairan frowned. "The shield... That's what stopped the object thrown at Serin during the fight."

"Exactly" Orion said. "Your bond unlocked a deep connection to your pack and your mate. Together, you are a balance of chaos and harmony."

The light around them brightened as a tendril of gold connected Serin's fire to Kairan's shield. The room was filled with a radiant glow as their powers intertwined. When the light faded, Serin's hair now had a black strand streaking through her brown locks, and Kairan's hair had a single white strand.

"A mark of your unity" Orion explained. "The black in Serin's hair represents Kairan's protective nature, and the white in Kairan's hair reflects Serin's nurturing spirit. You are two halves of a whole."

The revelation of their powers brought a sense of awe and responsibility. As they returned home, Serin couldn't help but playfully tug at the black strand in her hair.

"Looks like I'm carrying a piece of you now" she teased.

Kairan smirked. "And I you. Don't let it go to your head, Luna."

"Oh, it's already there" she shot back with a grin.

The household was bustling with energy when they arrived. Inseo was attempting to bake cookies with Ii Hyeok, though the kitchen looked like a war zone. Taejung lounged on the couch, offering sassy commentary on Inseo's culinary disaster, while Junghyun sat silently, scrolling through his phone.

As Serin entered, Hyejin greeted her with a warm smile. "Welcome back, dear. Did you learn what you needed to?"

Serin nodded. "We did. Let's just say the Karassu pack has nothing to fear with us around."

Taejung raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Does this mean you're going to start glowing like a magical firefly in every fight?"

XOnly when necessary" Serin replied sweetly, earning a laugh from everyone except Junghyun, who smirked faintly.

The rest of the evening was filled with laughter, teasing, and a growing sense of unity. Despite the challenges they had faced, the Karassu family was stronger than ever. And with Serin and Kairan at the helm, their future seemed brighter than ever.

"How about we play volleyball?" Inseo said. Completely off from the topic.

"Oh no no no no no"
