Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: A Long Forgotten Legacy.

Panel 1 :

The chapter starts with Kang Joon pressing himself against the cold, jagged walls of the crevice. The Abyss demon's distorted growls reverberate through the tunnel, growing louder. Its claws scrape closer, kicking up sparks against the stone.

The panel shows the demon's long robust hand extending into the crevice as if its intended instead to grab something, its jagged claws just inches from Kang Joon's leg.

Kang Joon (thought):

"If I stay here... I'm dead."

Panel 2 :

With trembling hands, Kang Joon grabs a loose rock and begins digging into the soil ahead of him. His breaths are shallow, his movements frantic as the crevice seem to close in around him.

Kang Joon (thought):

"This soil... it's loose. There might be something beyond this wall!"

Panel 3 :

The demon's claw snags the edge of Kang Joon's pants, pulling him slightly. He kicks back desperately, his foot connecting with the demon's hand. The creature screeches in frustration.

Kang Joon (thinking):

"Just a little more... I can't stop now!"

Panel 4 :

Kang Joon's digging hand breaks through the soil, and a faint, eerie violet light spills through the small hole he's created. His eyes widen with a mixture of hope and anticipation.

Kang Joon (thinking):

"Light? Is this... an exit?" Maybe its another compartment of the dungeon. I am going in.... Well, better to act than hesitate.

Panel 5 :

Kang Joon pulls himself through the narrow opening he's created, dirt smearing his face and clothes.

The demon's shadow looms just beyond the hole, waving his clawed paw inside the crevice missing him by an inch scratching the stone wall, as if it knows Kang Joon's presence but can't quite reach him. His heart pounds in his chest. The danger is not over. He takes a quick glance back, then focuses forward again, determined.

Panel 6 :

Kang Joon stumbles into an enormous chamber. Glowing hieroglyphics cover the walls, pulsating with an otherworldly energy. At the center stands an ancient shrine, its structure both regal and foreboding.

Kang Joon (shocked, murmuring):

"This place...Is this really.... The Legacy Shrine people talk about"

Panel 7 :

The camera close-up at Kang Joon's face, dirtied and bruised, but lit with newfound determination.

Kang Joon (thinking):

If... If I can claim this power... I'll finally have the strength to protect seoyeon and nothing will happen to her. And.... and I'll average my mother.

Panel 8 :

Thinking about it, Kang Joon steps closer to the shrine but notices glowing inscriptions carved into its base. Those hyergliffs resembles the glowing ones on the dungeon walls, familiar yet distinct. Somehow, he was able to perceive them.

Kang Joon (thinking):

"This... this isn't possible. These symbols—they're like the same ones on the dungeon walls across the world. But how can I understand them?"

Panel 9:

The inscription pulsating with a deathly aura, its words burning with an ominous intensity.

Inscription :

"The gods are treacherous. The knew they couldn't withstand the relentless onslaught of our bio-weapons. The Abyss project was designed to counter and absorb their divine power, draining their divinity.... their immortality, giving those so-called immortal bastards a slow and agonising death.

The Gods were losing the war, but they found our flaw. They abducted my wife, ambushed me during the rescue attempt, and their cowardly assault unleashing chaos across the abyss.

Without my control, the abyss will turn wild - unrestrained possibly beyond our forces. Probably, our forces had already retreated by now.

If you are my descendant and my blood is flowing through your veins, If you are worthy enough, "I, the Abyss Monarch, will grant you my Legacy". But heed this command, never show mercy :

If you meet the gods, kill the gods..... If you meet Buddha, kill the Buddha."

Panel 10 :

After reading the inscriptions, kang Joon sees a vision. The scene flashes back to a long-forgotten era, where a weathered and battle-worn figure sits alone in the depths of the Abyss. Clad in a battered yet highly advanced suit, it resembles ancient armor, its surface etched with intricate magical runes.

The cracked helmet reveals glowing crimson eyes, faintly flickering as if struggling to stay alight. His body is surrounded by swirling Abyss energy, his life force rapidly fading. His gauntleted hand trembles as he carves the last words: "Kill the Gods... Kill the Buddha."

The crimson light from the helmet flickers again, casting a faint glow over Kang Joon's hand as it reaches out to touch the shrine. His heartbeat quickens in sync with the vision, as if the two worlds are merging. He shudders, unable to tear his gaze away from the figure as the last words echo in his mind: "Kill the Gods... Kill the Buddha."

Monarch (Murmuring):

"We have not lost the war. It may take a century, or a millennia, but we, the Monarchs, shall return. We will conquer the entirety of the West-Wind Universe and crush those so called Heavenly beings to smithereens. "

Panel 11 :

Schene cuts to Erynn sitting in the shadows of a dimly lit tavern, her body wrapped tightly in her white cloth strips. She observes Amy and Ray arguing at a nearby table continuing her inner monologue.

Amy (angrily):

"You abandoned him, Ray! You're the one who left him behind!"

Ray (defensive):

"I didn't abandon anyone! You ran too! Don't blame me for saving myself!"

Panel 12 :

Erynn's fists tighten as she listens. A shadow of guilt crosses her face, but her eyes burn with determination.

Erynn (thinking):

"I shouldn't have left.... Something had happened to the other two.

Panel 13:

Erynn stands abruptly, her white cloth strips billowing slightly as she rises from her seat. Her eyes narrowing as she locks onto Amy and Ray. The room seems to hold its breath. Each step she takes is deliberate, her fists clenching tightly. James, who had been flirting with Amy, freezes as his gaze meets hers, a wave of silence washing over the tavern. She is a storm waiting to break.

James (B Rank Legacy Adventurer) :

"Hey, doll, wanna join us in the bet? | bet you'll be much more fun than these two!"

Panel 14 :

Erynn doesn't even glance at James, her gaze fixed solely on Amy and Ray. She walks toward them, her steps measured and deliberate, radiating silent anger.

Erynn (coldly) :

"Where are Minsoo and Kang Joon?"

Panel 15 :

Amy hesitates, her expression sorrowful and conflicted, while Ray smirks, leaning back in his chair, seemingly unconcerned.

Amy (hesitant, voice cracking slightly):

"Minsoo...He... he died... saving us from the dungeon fluctuation." It was an A rank dungeon.

Panel 16 :

Erynn's fists tighten, her knuckles turning white as she stares at Amy. Her voice turns frosty, her tone unwavering, eyes like daggers.

Erynn (coldly) :

"And Kang Joon? Where is he?"

Panel 17 :

Ray sneers at Erynn's intensity, casually shrugging as he leans back in his chair, a dismissive tone in his voice.

Ray (mockingly) :

"What good is a porter except to give his life to buy ours? He's just a tool, nothing more."

Panel 18 :

Hearing this, a sudden fury sparks in Erynn's eyes, her face contorted with rage. She moves in a blur, grabbing Ray by his hair, yanking his head back with such force that the table shakes. Her grip tightens, pulling his head towards the hard surface.

The tavern erupts in a chorus of hoots and cheers from the adventurers watching. Some are hooting, urging her on, while others shout with excitement.

B-Rank Orc Tank (laughing loudly) :

"Kick his ass! This asshole has made me a big loss today."

Panel 19 :

Ignoring the loud cheers, Erynn slams Ray's face against the table again, the sound of the impact echoing in the tense silence of the tavern. Blood begins to drip from Ray's forehead as he's knocked unconscious.

Erynn (gritting her teeth) :

"What happened to him? Speak, Ray. Where is Kang Joon?"

Amy (shouting) :

Stop. Its not our fault! We had to leave him behind! We couldn't risk it!

Panel 20 :

Erynn glares angrily at Amy, her gaze intense as if burning. Amy, terrified, stammers as she looks at Erynn's furious face, her voice high and frantic, her eyes darting around the tavern, nervously glancing at the adventurers.

Amy (frantic, panicking) :

I.... I am sorry. "We... We used him as bait to lure the A-Rank demons! We ran... We don't know what happened to him!"

Panel 21 :

The camera pulls back slightly as Erynn stands talI, her rage barely contained. She glares at the two with icy indifference, as if she's already made up her mind.

Erynn (snapping): "You used him... as bait?"

Panel 22 :

Without a second thought, Erynn turns sharply and strides toward the tavern door. The door swings shut behind Erynn with a heavy thud, cutting off the murmurs of the adventurers inside. She doesn't look back, her footsteps steady as she marches toward the Adventurer's Alliance, her white cloth billowing like a ghostly banner in the wind. Every step radiates purpose.

Erynn (thinking) :

"I won't let them get away with this. I'll find him... and make them all pay."

Panel 23 :

The camera shifts back at Kang Joon staring at the inscription, his mind racing. The glowing hieroglyphics begin to dim, leaving him with questions he can't answer.

Kang Joon (thinking):

What was that vision? Was that a person... No, it doesn't seem like it.

Monarchs... gods... a war? What is all of this?

Were the Legacy Shrines graves of fallen gods killed by Monarchs? How could someone kill gods?

Why can I read these strange hieroglyphs?

And the demons... are they the bio-weapons created by the Monarchs?

If I can read this inscription... does that mean humans are descendants of the Monarchs? Or is there something more, something that connects me to them?

And if I inherit this power... will I still remain human?

Narration Box :

"Power comes at a cost. The question is – Can he pay the price."
