Lin Feng's legs felt weak.
"WHAT?!" His voice cracked into a squeak. He wanted to say something sensible, but his brain stopped working. Inside, he was screaming.
"What is this? Is it… shaking his tail? And offering his hunt to me? Like, 'Here, I caught this for you'? WHY?!" His thoughts ran in a confusing loop of fear and shock.
The beast tilted its head slightly, waiting.
Lin Feng's breath came in short, rapid gasps. His mind scrambled to make sense of the situation.
"This... this can't be real. This is some messed-up dream. It has to be!"
The beast's tail wagged again, slower this time, as if to reassure him.
Lin Feng felt like his soul was about to leave his body.
"Okay, okay, let's think," he muttered, half to himself, half to the universe. "Should I shoot or not? UNIVERSE, TELL ME! What if I miss? Why is it even wagging its tail to me in the first place? No, I should not shoot it. If I shoot it, it might eat me or—or get mad and crush me into a pancake. But if I don't shoot... What then? It makes me its...? No! No way!"
His grip on the gun wavered. Part of him screamed to fire every bullet into the creature's face. Another part wanted to curl up or bury his head in the sand, pretending none of this was real.
"WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?!" Lin Feng shouted, sweat dripping down his face.
The beast let out another low growl, softer this time, almost like a purr. It nudged Scarface's body forward again, then looked back at Lin Feng with an expression that seemed... expectant? Almost like it was saying, Eat first. You're getting cranky on an empty stomach.
Lin Feng's hands trembled even more.
"NO! I don't eat that! I don't eat my own kind! What kind of monster do you think I am?" he cried out and in response but it wagged its tail even more as if enjoying the Lin Feng outburst.
"What do you want from me? I didn't sign up for this!"
The beast stayed still, wagging its tail even faster, almost as if it enjoyed Lin Feng's yelling. It seemed oddly playful, which only made the situation weirder.
Lin Feng rubbed his temples, half tempted to smack himself. "Maybe I'm hallucinating. Maybe those wild berries I ate earlier were the problem."
The beast nudged Scarface's body again, handling it with surprising care. Lin Feng's jaw tightened. "No! I don't want it! Do whatever you want—I don't care!"
After enough rejection, the beast tilted its head, almost as if it finally understood what Lin Feng was saying. Then, its glowing eyes shifted toward the unconscious woman lying on the ground.
The beast stood up on its hind legs, walked like a large teddy bear and It gently picked up the limp woman with its clawed hands.
Lin Feng's grip on the gun tightened, his heart pounding. Terror clawed at his chest as his thoughts raced.
"Is it going to tear her apart while she is alive? Should I stop it? But what if it kills me instead? And why should I risk my life for someone who wasn't even friendly to me? Still... it's a beast. Shouldn't humans stick together when facing something like this?"
While Lin Feng remained frozen in moral and survival dilemmas, the beast returned and placed the woman's body in front of Scarface's. Its glowing eyes flicked toward Lin Feng, avoiding direct contact but holding a faint expression that almost seemed to say, 'Fine. Take the fresh one. Don't complain later that I wasn't generous.'
"Huh?" Lin Feng's eye twitched. "OI! What's that supposed to mean? HUH? I'm not that kind of monster!"
Without waiting for a response, the beast grabbed Scarface's corpse with its claws, lifting it as if about to eat it like a burrito.
Lin Feng's morbid curiosity suddenly revealed out of nowhere at how this beast is going to eat, unable to look away. But before anything gruesome could happen, the Blood Bead around its neck glowed brightly. All the blood in Scarface's body drained out, flowing toward the bead in streams. The corpse shriveled, left bloodless, but the fur shined up as if it got clean or healthier.
Then, strange fur-like tentacles extended from the beast's hands. They wrapped around Scarface's remains, pulling flesh and bone into its body with a gross sound.
Lin Feng gagged at the disgusting sound of squelching flesh and breaking bones but forced himself to keep watching as it absorbed everything, leaving nothing behind. Even though the beast's size didn't increase, its zombie-like look began to change. The disfigurement melted away, replaced by clear, defined features. Its mangled wolf-like face cleaned up and looked like a mix of bear and wolf—alive, breathing, and covered in clean fur.
The rest of its body followed, becoming more muscular and human-like, though its claws and sharp thumbs got more defined. Its hind legs also changed, becoming more muscular but still animal-like.
"What evil have I encountered? And I was wearing this evil thing on me? Was I suicidal? This is not a video game," he cursed at himself, mumbling as his breathing remained unsteady after witnessing such unnatural events.
"What gods did I piss off to get Isekaied like this?" Then he looked at his unlimited ammo handgun. Its long dark barrel had a slight sheen in the moonlight. It was neither polished nor matte like modern materials. He wasn't sure if guns used materials like plastic, composite, or carbon fiber, as he was a total noob when it came to firearms and guns.
He felt a sense of comfort seeing the gun in his hands. He didn't know what kind of game this beast was playing with him, but he was sure his gun wouldn't play games or abandon him.
SCREAM!
The woman suddenly woke up from unconsciousness and screamed with all her strength upon seeing the Wolf Beast towering over her. She immediately tried to drag herself away but paused upon seeing Lin Feng sitting under a tree.
