Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Baking Plans and Hidden Escapades

As the delightful chaos of breakfast shenanigans settled down, the day carried on, bringing with it new activities and unexpected twists. With the dishes cleaned up and the kitchen tidied, Charlie found herself in a moment of quietude as she wiped the countertops. It was then that George's voice cut through the calm.

"Charlie," George piped up, looking up at her with those wide, innocent eyes of his, "what are we having for snacks?"

Charlie blinked, slightly taken aback by the question. "Snacks? George, we just finished lunch not long ago. Aren't you full?"

George's eyes twinkled, his voice filled with excitement. "I am, but I missed baking and eating the choco chip cookies you make, Mama Chawie."

Charlie's heart melted at the endearing nickname and George's request. "Well, George, how about this? After I'm done with a meeting, I promise we'll bake those cookies together, alright?"

George's smile stretched from ear to ear, his enthusiasm contagious. "Yay, I can't wait!"

Charlie turned to Mon, who was nearby, and asked him to check the pantry for the necessary baking ingredients. Mon gave a quick nod and went to inspect the pantry's contents.

A moment later, Mon returned with a contemplative expression. "Charlie, we're missing a few ingredients for the cookies. We'll need to buy them."

Charlie thanked Mon and told him to go ahead and purchase the missing items after he was done with his current tasks. The thought of baking with George was heartwarming, and she wanted to make sure they had everything they needed.

Meanwhile, in another part of the resort, Sloan and Sicily were getting ready for the meeting with Charlie. As they adjusted their attire and reviewed their plans, Sicily couldn't help but notice a difference in Sloan's demeanor.

"You know what, Sloan?" Sicily began, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "We've been together for quite some time, but I've not seen you laugh like you did earlier. There must be something in the air making you smile and act like a child... Could it be...?" She let the sentence trail off playfully.

Sloan grinned, seeing through Sicily's teasing. "Are you going to say 'Charlie' again?"

Sicily burst into laughter, the sound filling the room. "Nope, not this time. I was actually thinking about George."

Sloan chuckled and shook his head. "You're trying to put words into my mouth, Sicily."

Sicily's laughter continued, and she gave Sloan a knowing look. "Well, maybe it's just the carefree atmosphere of this place. It's bringing out a side of you I haven't seen in a while."

Sloan laughed along, appreciating Sicily's insight. "Alright, you got me. It's hard not to feel lighthearted in such a beautiful setting."

At the same time, Charlie was in the living room, preparing for the meeting. Her laptop was open, notes neatly organized, and plans ready to be discussed. She had already set the stage for the TikTok video, content ideas, possible tour options, and more.

Just as they were about to dive into their meeting, Mon walked in, interrupting their conversation. He informed Charlie that he would be heading to the market to buy the baking ingredients. Charlie instructed Mon to take the money from the cash register and reminded him to ask for a receipt.

Sloan, intrigued by Charlie's approach as an employer, commented, "You trust your team a lot, Charlie."

Charlie nodded, a warm smile on her lips. "Absolutely. We've been through thick and thin together. Trust is essential, especially when we're living and working together."

As Charlie and Sloan engaged in a deeper conversation, they failed to notice Sicily slipping out of the room and following Mon. Mon, caught off guard, turned to see Sicily approaching him.

In a low, husky voice, Sicily called out to Mon, "Hey, where are you headed? Mind if I join you?"

Mon's surprise was evident, but he managed a hesitant smile. "Sure, I'm just heading to the market. You can come along."

As they walked towards the market, their laughter and flirtatious banter echoed through the air. It was a spontaneous escape from the routine, an unexpected adventure fueled by a shared sense of mischief.

Back at the resort, George emerged from his room with excitement in his eyes. He approached Charlie, his eagerness evident. "Are we going to start baking now, Mama Chawie?"

Charlie glanced at the time and realized that it was already around 3 pm. She noticed that Mon and Sicily had not yet returned with the ingredients. She shared her observation with George and assured him that they would bake soon.

Charlie's instincts kicked in, and she decided to take matters into her own hands. She explained to George that she would head to the market to buy the missing ingredients and return as quickly as possible.

Eagerly, Sloan offered to accompany Charlie on her market trip, hoping to explore the local surroundings. He grinned playfully and said, "I'll try my best not to stand out too much, though I'm not sure how well I can blend in."

Charlie chuckled, appreciating Sloan's willingness to join her. "Well, considering I'm on the shorter side and you're quite tall, blending in might be a bit of a challenge. But who knows, we can give it a shot."

As they both got ready to leave, they exchanged smiles, unaware of Mon and Sicily's whereabouts. With George excitedly waiting by the beach, ready to bake cookies, and the missing pieces of the puzzle seemingly off on their own escapade, the resort's serendipitous summer continued to unfold in unexpected ways.
