Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Prime Minister Goes Viral

By now, Roy K's reputation as a bumbling yet oddly endearing leader had transcended political boundaries. His escapades, whether accidental or intentional, had made him a social media phenomenon. Memes of "The Cucumber King" and "Meowster the Lunch Thief" were everywhere. His face was plastered on everything from coffee mugs to T-shirts.

Roy, ever eager to capitalize on his growing fame, decided it was time to connect directly with the people. And what better way to do so than through social media?

The PM's Social Media Debut

"Aziz!" Roy called, barging into his advisor's office.

Aziz, who had just taken his first sip of morning coffee, nearly choked. "What now, sir?"

"I've decided," Roy said, puffing out his chest. "I'm starting a social media account!"

Aziz blinked. "You already have an official government account."

Roy waved dismissively. "Boring. I'm talking about a personal account. You know, for the real me. The people need to see my personality. My humor. My… dance moves."

Aziz froze. "Please tell me you're joking about the last part."

Roy grinned. "Oh, I never joke about dance moves."

The First Post

Roy's first post on @RoyTheRealPM was a video of him attempting to do the Cahayan Shuffle, a local dance craze that required precise footwork and rhythm. Roy had neither.

The video started with Roy confidently shouting, "This is how we do it in Cahaya!" before flailing his arms and stomping wildly. At one point, he tripped over Meowster, who yowled and ran off-screen.

Aziz, watching the video from his office, buried his face in his hands. "This is a disaster," he muttered.

But to Roy's delight, the video went viral within hours. Comments poured in:

• @CahayaDancer: "This is so bad it's good. I can't stop watching!"

• @SambalQueen98: "Only our PM could turn a dance fail into a national treasure."

• @MeowsterFanClub: "Justice for Meowster! #CatLivesMatter"

Roy was thrilled. "Look at these numbers, Aziz! The people love me!"

"They love laughing at you," Aziz corrected.

"Same thing," Roy replied, posting another video of himself trying to flip a pancake (which ended up stuck to the ceiling).

The Meme King

Roy's antics quickly earned him the unofficial title of "Meme King of Cahaya." Netizens created endless content based on his posts:

• A clip of Roy dropping a durian on his foot was edited into an action movie trailer.

• Someone Photoshopped Roy and Meowster onto the moon, dubbing it "First PM in Space."

• A fan-made cartoon featured Roy battling a giant cucumber, armed only with a ladle.

The more ridiculous the memes got, the more Roy leaned into them.

"I'm a brand now, Aziz!" he exclaimed during a cabinet meeting. "We should print my face on our currency."

Pak Din choked on his tea. "Let's not get carried away, sir."

The Downside of Fame

But Roy's newfound fame wasn't without its challenges. As his online presence grew, so did the scrutiny.

One morning, Aziz barged into Roy's office, holding a tablet. "Sir, we have a problem."

Roy, who was attempting to balance a pencil on his nose, looked up. "What now?"

Aziz showed him a viral post with the caption: "Your PM, Hard at Work!" It featured a photo of Roy napping under his desk, surrounded by empty snack wrappers.

"Who took this?" Roy demanded.

Aziz sighed. "It was one of your own videos, sir. You posted it with the caption, 'Power naps are the key to success!'"

Roy shrugged. "What's the big deal? Napping is productive!"

"Not when people think you're sleeping during a cabinet meeting," Aziz snapped.

The Social Media Meltdown

Things took a turn for the worse when Roy decided to respond directly to his critics.

"Aziz, get the camera. I'm going live!"

"Sir, that's a terrible idea," Aziz warned.

"Nonsense," Roy said, adjusting his hair. "I'm the Prime Minister. I can handle a few trolls."

The live stream began with Roy smiling confidently. "Hello, my lovely citizens! Let's address some of these rumors. First of all, I wasn't napping. I was meditating. Big difference."

Comments flooded in:

• @TruthSeeker99: "Meditating? With a Doritos bag as a pillow?"

• @CahayaLogic: "PM Roy, explain the pancake on your ceiling."

• @MeowsterFan: "WHERE IS MEOWSTER???"

Flustered, Roy tried to answer but only made things worse. "Okay, fine! Maybe I was napping, but it's because I work so hard! Running a country isn't easy, you know!"

The stream ended abruptly when Roy accidentally knocked over the camera, which landed face-down on a bowl of instant noodles.

Damage Control

The backlash from the live stream was immediate. Roy's approval ratings dipped slightly for the first time since he took office. Aziz called an emergency meeting to salvage the situation.

"Sir, you need to stop posting for a while," Aziz said firmly.

"But my fans!" Roy protested.

"They'll survive," Aziz replied. "Right now, we need to focus on real governance. You know, like running the country?"

Reluctantly, Roy agreed to let a professional PR team take over his social media.

The Redemption Arc

A week later, Roy made his comeback with a carefully curated post: a picture of him planting a tree, accompanied by the caption: "Growing a greener future for Cahaya!"

The public loved it. The memes shifted from mocking Roy to celebrating his "efforts." One user even edited the tree-planting photo to include Meowster digging a tiny hole next to Roy.

Aziz sighed in relief. "Finally, some positive press."

Roy grinned. "See, Aziz? I told you I've got this leadership thing under control."

Aziz didn't have the heart to argue.

The Legacy of @RoyTheRealPM

While Roy's social media adventures became less chaotic, his status as a meme legend remained intact. Despite—or perhaps because of—his antics, the people of Cahaya felt an odd sense of connection to their quirky Prime Minister.

For Roy, that was all that mattered.

"Aziz," he said one evening, scrolling through fan art of himself as a superhero. "I think I'm making history here."

Aziz sighed. "That's one way to put it, sir."

Roy leaned back in his chair, beaming. "Long live the Meme King!"
