"What's going on?" Ravindra whispered to Mathew, "Why is…she crying?"
"No idea," Mathew replied. They both looked at Rose. She was drinking water or filling the bucket below her. Uh… there was a bucket to protect the bedsheet from not drinking water.
It's been two days and Ravindra wasn't making any progress with dark magic so far yet according to the book and according to the square-faced, he was doing great. They were still avoiding doing the practice more openly.
'The accuracy is insane' Ravindra thought when he looked at the insane way of drinking water by Rose or spilling water by Rose.
The old lady taking care of her came close to Ravindra and Mathew, "She has been like this for a while, crying a lot today…in my days"
"That's a good sign…" Mathew smiled at the old lady.
"Yeah…now hopefully she will start to drink more water…uh…spilling this much." Ravindra joked.
They laughed slightly.
'They are so stupid, even Mathew…' Ravindra was thinking about Rose's condition, 'If her life doesn't matter after the mission, then, putting her to sleep and doing the drama should be enough…why do I have to use black rendering and dark satisium over and over again.'
Ravindra couldn't understand the meaning of doctor, maybe Mathew wanted to cure her. Maybe he came here to do that in the first place.
Just as they were putting her to sleep, church priests came two of them, Deen and Ben. They stood by the gate, Ravindra was putting Rose to sleep by dark satisium. He looked at the two of them, he was almost done so he didn't do any drama.
"She is getting better" Ravindra said, he was really close to face of Rose and could tell the difference, her face was a little less pale from what he saw a few days ago.
They started to leave, the two church priests were waiting at the door, they didn't enter and they didn't even have Rose in their line of sight.
"How's the condition of her" Deen asked normally, like a normal person asking a simple question.
Ravindra had the attitude to disrespect others as the prodigy doctor, he went past them, didn't speak a single word, just went past and with a small bump in Ben, whose face was lit with anger, it was just Deen placed one of his hand on the shoulder of Ben, restraining him from speaking.
'So, this tilled nose priest is the one we are going to test… He is so good with his fake anger' Mathew smiled and Deen as well, the other people in the room knew about the tension in the air but acted like there was none, "Well, good lords, Rose is getting better, she might be able to speak in a while."
"Can we see her?" Deen asked respectfully, these two were opposite of Ravindra and Ben, those two were artificially hating each other according to their act while these two were respecting each other in their acting.
"Who am I to stop you but…you see, good lords… we are trying not to confuse Rose and that's why only these servants of her and me and the doctor you just met are the only ones to see her… It will help her to recover faster."
"Not even her father…" Deen asked curiously.
"Yes… We suspect it is linked to the past and her father could trigger those memories. That's why the new faces… even her lady-in-waiting doesn't appear often at her face"
"We will not disturb you or your patient…" Deen said while his thought said something totally different, 'I wish I could say that.'
'I wish what you said was true.' Mathew knew how much hypocrisy was among priests of the churches. "I bid my leave…good lords" Mathew slightly bowed and left. They nodded and they left as well.
At the room of Deen, after lunch, they all gathered.
"You found anything?" Deen looked at Keliven and Durgur.
"You think it's so easy…" Durgur said.
"Of course not… What are we going to do now…?" Ben asked.
"What NOW?" Keliven asked the same question.
"I don't know…" Deen looked outside the window, they were on the third floor and had two beds for each person and they were given two rooms, "We need to find a reason to extort that Viscount"
"If we can't think of something…" Ben almost shouted, "How are we going to scam?"
"Woah… keep your voice down…" Deen as the leader said, "Can't let them hear us…"
They were scamming the viscount and it's not like this was an original idea, there had been many cases and the nobles started to send the priests away saying they suspected them to be a scam. So, the churches implied that anybody with a set of church notices (one Deen through at the face of guard when they were entering) had all the information with the church's seal.
"We need to get out of here…ASAP," Ben said.
"What…?" Deen came close to Ben, "You scared?"
"Oh…Come on…." Keliven interrupted. "We are already too deep into this… We need to think of some way"
"Yeah… I think the same way… uh… What was your name…?" Durgur said.
"Uh… Deen…"
"That's the only real name…" Ben complained.
"What? What did you say…? Ben's a real name"
"My name was Ben?"
"You can't be kidding me right now?"
"Wait…Wait… Let me say your name… You are Deen, this is Ben, I am keliven, He's Durgur"
"Alright…Then, now get to scouting around his farms, there has to be something he is hiding, I heard there is an underground to his farm" Deen gave orders.
"No… It's not possible to have an underground and farms…" Durgur laughed.
"I was just telling you what I heard" Deen looked outside the window, at the wheat crops, "No matter what… Find something and also that doctor…that Akarvan… He looks like he can be manipulated and cause some trouble…"
"When I ask about Rose I don't get a normal answer" Durgur said. "They always say something like it's a disease and the two new doctors are doing good and they will make her better…"
"Why two doctors?" Ben said, "I don't think it's a partnership or something…"
"We are not medical experts" Keliven joined in, "We can't a thing about medical stuff or even if they are doing something… we shouldn't get involved"
"Why?" Durgur asked.
"Because it's a girl who could die…" Keliven looked at all of them, "If we intervene in this they might be on high alert… Things can go south."
"That…Akarvan, he looks into my eyes like he could kill me…" Ben frowned, "Do I have to act like I hate him for some reason…"
"Yeah…" Deen shrugged, "What else do you think… I studied these priests for two months, many of them are racist and you fit that role the best"
It was an insult, Ben looked away in anger.
"I think we should intervene with those doctor's work…" Durgur suggested.
"No…" Keliven shook his head, "It's not just unethical but also…so risky. What do you think…?" Keliven glanced at Deen.
"I think…" Deen looked up lost in thoughts and then, turned towards them, "We should intervene but first we should think of a plan on how to do that."
"Okay…" Keliven didn't look satisfied but he smiled or fake smiled.
