Chapter 6 - 6-Situation

(Hey all, this would have come out sooner, but I came down with a pretty bad cold. Also be aware that break is ending so I'll have to go to school as well. Not like I'm gonna stop writing, but I might be busy with midterms soon.)

"Bullshit." Fury cursed.

Not worried in the slightest, I leaned back in my seat and shrugged. "Well you're the super spy, why don't you figure out the truth."

Fury stared me directly in the eyes before sighing. "Allright, fine I'll bite. How do you even know about sheild?"

I looked at Fury like he was stupid. "I have an alien watch that allows me to transform into species from another reality and you're focused on how I know about your spy club?"

"Yes."

I sighed. "The watch comes with an inbuilt AI that's smarter than anything Stark can dream of. But it's pretty damn lazy, so I had it make me a much dumber assistant."

Fury gave me a blank stare. "You don't much care do you?"

Fury continued to stare for a moment before apparently realizing that I wasn't that much afraid of him and sighing. "No. To tell the truth, I came to offer you a position within SHEILD. As an member of a group that would aim to protect the world from both invasive and domestic threats."

I raised an eyebrow as he sat in one of my chairs, producing a file from seemingly no where and handing it to me. Opening it, I saw the basic overview of what the Avengers aimed to be, though it would seem that not everyone had been rangeled together yet.

"I don't think Stark would have much of an interest in this stuff..."

Fury sighed, remembering the ordeal that having this talk with Anthony Stark had been. He didn't even bother to take off his armor either, just munching on donuts while he tried to explain everything. "You don't have a clue, but he'll come on his own when the time comes."

I nodded. I had seen the way Tony had been changing after coming back from Afgan. "What about Banner? Or the Icicle? They seem more like independent characters if you ask me."

"Thay have their own reasons for joining."

Glancing up at Fury, I nodded again. "Well, you must know I won't do this for free right?"

Fury nodded. "I'm prepared to keep your identity a secret, as well as giving your budding company a boost."

"I want more than a boost, I want full support. At least untill I'm fully off the ground with sales."

The spy sighed before relenting. "Fine, but you need to talk more about that fancy ass watch."

Smiling, I passed the file back to Fury. "You got it, Boss Man."

---

In the end, I managed to get Fury to somewhat believe me. I hid nearly nothing from him, bar my insider knowledge of plot events, letting him be aware if the fact that neither me nor this watch are originally from this universe.

With this in mind, he classified the information on my file to its highest grade, such a level that only he could lay eyes on the fully unrestricted information.

I could tell that he was working up plans behind those shaded... sorry that shaded eye of his, but I think a lot of them required me to earn more of his trust. In the end, the deal I worked out with him was that I was to act as a sort of diplomat to potential alien species and in exchange he would fully support my business endeavors.

The deal was flexible, seeing as I wouldn't need his support forever, which I was happy about. When the man finally left, I let myself sag into my chair, breathing out a sigh of relief.

I just sat there for a long while catching my breath, rubbing the stress out of my eyes. "Putting up a front to a world class spy is so stressful..."

"Ollie, do a full sweep for any unregistered devices that he could have left." I asked of him, to which he promptly responded.

"On it sir." Such a good AI butler.

Sighing once again, I heard the Omnitrix beep, telling me that the Flash's codex was usable once again. That was a particular transformation that I bought parley for emergencies, when even XLR8 couldn't keep up.

Unfortunately, using it deeply drained the Omnitrix, which would then drain on my body until the safety protocols are reinstated. This was mostly because Azmuth still needed to calibrate the Omnitrix for using the Speed Force, which was tapped into when I transformed, but that was progressing faster than I thought it would.

Hell, the only reason I bought the Flash rather than something like a Kryptonian was because it was on sale for some reason. There was never an explanation, so I could only assume that there would just be one on sale occasionally.

Moving on from that line of thought, I remembered something else that I needed to address. "Ollie, did we ever get a call back from-"

"Yessir, a Susan Storm called you while you were helping earlier. She wanted to ask more about your ideas for the clean fusion engine, said to call her back when available."

A grin spread across my face, even though I tried to hold it back. The fantastic four existed in this universe, though they've yet to run into any radioactive clouds. What I had noticed as well was that Susan Storm, one of the most sought after women in any iteration of Marvel, was not in fact dating anyone.

There was no evidence that she was dating Reed Richards, nor Victor von Doom, so I was understandably hopeful of my chances. Of course, I wouldn't be creepy or anything, and I wasn't just using the reactor as a way to get to her as I knew that they would do some great things with it.

The four of them are truly good people, and allowing them to work with me on my reactor project would only act to ensure that they can do some real good even before they get their powers. Hell, it'll probably be used in the rocket they make.

Assuming that's the way they get their powers in this universe...
