SHIELD Headquarters.
Most of the Agents, including Nick Fury, Natasha, and Agent Hill still held doubts about this new anomaly.
"Director, since this anomaly is a Safe-class, should a team be dispatched to retrieve it"? An Agent asked Nick Fury.
"No, we'll wait and see what happens on the live broadcast". Nick Fury replied to the Agent while still focussing on the light curtain.
...
Kamar-Taj.
"A Bear with a heart of patchwork huh... It's quite the apt name". The Ancient One thought to herself. She felt relieved that this new anomaly wasn't as dangerous as the previous ones, in fact, one might even benefit from meeting such an anomaly.
Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind, prompting her to immediately shift her focus back on the light curtain, but the person she saw on the screen made her calm demeanour falter.
...….
On the light curtain——
Somewhere in Kathmandu, Nepal. A man with an unkempt hair and beard carrying a backpack and a map was constantly asking the people around him for directions. "Do you know where Kamar-Taj is? Kamar-Taj. No"? He asked around a few more times, but no one seemed familiar with this Karma-Taj.
As a sacred place for sorcerers, naturally, its location would not be privy to ordinary people. Strange continued his search, but to no avail. He soon came across an empty street, where he was confronted by a few men.
"Look, guys, I… I don't have any money". He said, trying to back up, but was already surrounded. One of the thugs looked at him and said. "Your watch".
"No! It's all I have left". The thug didn't care, and was about to take it by force. Seeing this, Strange sighed and pretended to agree. "Alright". After a bit of hesitation, he suddenly sucker punched the thug in front of him, but that turned out to be a mistake after realizing his hands were already damaged. He didn't even have time to focus on the pain when he was immediately thrown to the ground and pummelled by the thugs. They took his watch and immediately fled the scene.
...
"Mordo! You should've appeared there already"! The Ancient One said as she was afraid the events leading Dr Strange to Kamar-Taj would change.
"Forgive me, Ancient One. I was too preoccupied with these Special Contained Objects". "I'll leave right away"! Baron Mordo quickly responded.
The Ancient One looked at the live broadcast on the light curtain, unease welling up within her.
....
On the light curtain——
Strange looked like he had given up hope. He was bloodied from the beating, and his hands were shaking nonstop. He collapsed on the ground, exhausted, and seemingly giving up.
...….
On the Internet....
"Who is this guy? He seems quite pathetic".
"Fucking hell! Those bastards! Why would they beat up such a poor guy! It looks like his hands are already disabled".
"Wait… I know this guy! His name is Dr. Stephen Strange. He's a famous surgeon in New York! He performed surgery on my father a while back".
"Yeah, Dr. Strange, I've seen his picture before, he was quite high-spirited. What happened to him"?
"I heard he was in a car accident, and now he can't perform surgery anymore".
"..."
Stark Mansion.
"Tony, do you know this Doctor Strange guy"? Rhodes asked.
"Humph, never heard of him. Besides, if I don't know him, then he must not be that great". Tony replied in his usual arrogant tone.
Rhodes gave him an exasperated look. "Anyway, I'm really interested in seeing how a Teddy Bear performs surgery. If that's even what it does".
Both Tony and Rhodes turned their focus on the light curtain.
...…..
Meanwhile, Strange still sat on the ground, feeling very depressed. "I'm so stupid! Why the hell would I believe in miracles, look at me"! He couldn't help letting out a frustrated laugh. As a man of science, the last thing he would believe in would be miracles. But, the case of Jonathan Pangborn gave him hope, he was willing to believe for his own sake, and now he lost that hope.
Strange thought of those weird anomalies, but he hasn't heard of any that could be useful in his situation. Besides, those things are 100% of the time extremely life-threatening. After a bit of hesitation, he got up and decided to keep searching for Kamar-Taj! He spent everything he had left just to get to this place, it would be pointless to give up now.
"Hello, do you know where Kamar-Taj is"?
"Kamar-Taj? No, i don't know".
"..."
However, this didn't stop him, he kept asking around until he came across a street vendor.
"Kamar-Taj? I've lived here for decades and I've never heard of Kamar-Taj. But"…. The street vendor came closer to him and said in a mysterious tone; "Buy a lucky charm, young man, these are blessed and will bring you Great Luck".
Hearing this, Strange was disappointed it wasn't something important, but he nodded to be polite and was preparing to buy a lucky charm. Suddenly, he remembered he had been robbed and only had a few rupees in change.
"That's all you have"? The street vendor was taken aback, looking at Strange questioningly. Despite looking beat up, Strange was dressed nicely, so the old man thought he could fool this young man into buying a meaningless item.
But even so, the old man took the few rupees and grabbed an old worn out Teddy Bear that looked handmade from all the patchworks on it and handed it to Strange with a kind smile, saying: "This Teddy Bear has been blessed by a magician, it'll bring you Great Luck".
Seeing this scene, on the internet....
"Hahaha, this old man has some great marketing skills. We need these type of men in our Banks, we're not lied to enough".
"Psst hahaha! What the hell? He said it was blessed by a Magician with a straight face".
"What Magician would be so bored to bless a teddy bear? And it's an old worn out teddy bear"!
"Wait a minute….. Teddy bear? Could this thing…. Could this thing be Special Containment 2295. The Bear With A Heart Of Patchwork"?
