Chapter 39 - An Anomaly That Sacrifices Itself For Others? Tony Has Doubts.

On the light curtain, a textual description of Special Containment 2295 appeared.

[ Description: SCP-2295 is a patchwork stuffed bear, approximately 0.46m from 'head' to 'foot,' and stuffed with synthetic fiber and cotton. ]

[SCP-2295 has a small, anatomically correct pin of a heart on the left side of its thorax, and a bow wrapped around its neck. ]

[The fabric and color of SCP-2295's patches vary. ]

[Tests confirm that no components of SCP-2295 contain any anomalous chemical properties. ]

.......

Seeing this, people on the internet reacted.

"What? This SCP doesn't contain any anomalous chemical properties? Does that mean it's just an ordinary teddy bear"?

"Ordinary teddy bears don't have an anatomically correct pin of a heart attached to them! That alone makes this thing weird".

"Honestly, from the picture shown before and this description, this SCP looks quite cuddly and cute, especially with its little bowtie. Hahaha"!

"Cute? Cuddly? Don't judge these anomalies by their appearances. The Red Sea Object was just a disc, but you remember how dangerous that thing was".

"You guys are worried for nothing. Wasn't the object class safe? Maybe this really is just a normal teddy bear"….

"..."

SHIELD Headquarters.

Even after a detailed description of this Special Contained Object was shown on the light curtain, the Agents did not investigate the information on this SCP as they did with the previous ones. How could they, the description of this teddy bear is all too common on the Earth. Even if they used all SHIELD resources, It would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Even so, the SHIELD Agents remained on alert, ready to act on any orders given by the Director.

....

Nick Fury and Natasha were looking at the light curtain, contemplating on this new anomaly.

"Sigh". "I don't know what kind of disaster this new anomaly will bring". Nick Fury said as he held his temples.

"Well, judging from its description and object class, perhaps it's not as threatening as the previous ones". Natasha said, looking at her boss.

"Perhaps. Or perhaps not".

He didn't want to take this teddy bear lightly, just because of its cute appearance. He trusted a cute cat once, it turned out to be an alien man-eating predator with a pocket dimension for a stomach. This teddy bear should be similar. It looks cute on the outside, but it might be a terrifying monster underneath.

...

Kamar-Taj.

"A teddy bear huh. Maybe it's a cursed object"? The Ancient One was contemplating. She has come across many kinds of magic, like voodoo, which sometimes uses things like dolls and stuffed animals to place curses on others. She wondered if this was the case for this anomaly.

"No, it's unlikely. This SCP seems to be a safe class". She thought to herself inwardly.

Turning to look at the light curtain, she was taken aback when she saw the rest of the information on this Special Contained Object.

[SCP-2295 enters an active state when within two meters of a human sustaining major trauma to an organ. ]

[When in the proximity of two or more possible subjects, SCP-2295 will invariably choose the youngest subject. ]

[SCP-2295 will anomalously produce scissors, white thread, and either sewing needles or a crocheting hook from its mouth and use any fabric and stuffing in close proximity to fashion an instance of SCP-2295-1, a patchwork imitation of the subject's organ. ]

[SCP-2295-1 vanishes from sight and the subject falls into a state of unconsciousness. ]

[SCP-2295-1 instances then replace the subject's damaged organ via anomalous means. ]

[The whereabouts of organs replaced this way are undetermined. ]

[If there is no usable material in close proximity, SCP-2295 will use fabric and stuffing from itself. ]

[SCP-2295 regenerates one gram of stuffing every day until completely replacing any lost or used stuffing. ]

[Note that fabric used this way does not regenerate, and additional fabric must be placed near SCP-2295 for the purpose of self-mending. ]

[Instances of SCP-2295-1 successfully carry out their respective functions despite the numerous expected biological, chemical, and medical incompatibilities. ]

[Once within the subject, adjacent tissues and veins attach to the imitated organ without observable complications. ]

[There have been no cases of rejected SCP-2295-1 instances, and all subjects recorded at the time of writing made full recoveries. ]

...........

SHIELD Headquarters.

The Agents all had expressions of disbelief. Even Nick Fury, along with Natasha and Hill. They were confused by the information on this special containment.

"What the hell! Is this real"? Agent Hill exclaimed in confusion.

They were expecting the description to show what kind of threat this new anomaly would pose. But on the contrary, this SCP would even sacrifice itself to heal anyone that is hurt! It was hard for them to believe, seeing as how the previous anomalies were all terrifying monsters.

...…

On the Internet...

"Oh My God! The Special Contained Object this time... is actually good"?

"Wow! It uses its own fabric and stuffing to save others? It's sacrificing itself. I never thought I would say this but what an honourable little teddy bear"!

"Is there really such a nice Special Containment"?

"Yeah! It feels like a scam. After all those terrifying anomalies, I can't believe there can be such a kind one among them"!

"..."

Stark's Mansion.

"No! There has to be a catch somewhere. These SCP's are all terrifying"! Tony had a look of disbelief. He couldn't accept that this SCP wasn't dangerous, after all, both the SCPs he had come across were life-threatening.

He stared at the light curtain and said: "This Teddy bear is probably not what it seems. Maybe it's so-called help comes at a great price".

"Take the Plague Doctor for example, all he wants to do is cure others, and he can even resurrect the dead. But once he acts, you realize how terrifying he really is".

"So, I bet this Special Containment is not what it seems, and is actually a terrifying monster in disguise"!

"Well, that makes sense, I guess". Colonel Rhodes said. "But Tony, I think you're just pissed you didn't come across a nicer anomaly". He quipped.

...…..

Suddenly, on the light curtain, the textual information disappeared, and a live broadcast began.
