Chapter 2 - the forbidden tree (2)

***

Recalling her memories she looked around to see a snake besides her looking at her curiously. "A snake? You're telling me those terrifying wolves ran from a single snake..?" Eve thought to herself, her limbs aching, the numbing pain is still shooting up her body.

Eve- "...i guess this is the end... are you waiting for me to die so you can eat me?"

"Why of course not I am not so cruel as to let you drop dead so easily."

Eve who didn't expect the snake to talk screamed the limbs she thought she couldn't move springing into action as she tried to crawl away, unfortunately for her it is of no use, she can only get so far by crawling.

"Please don't run away. I wouldn't have healed your wounds if i wanted you to die. Well healing is not exactly right. I closed them off temporarily. Crawl some more and they might open up, I suggest you stop young lady."

Eve falling head first into the snow exhausted looked back at the talking snake... dark green with dark yellow patterns along with green eyes long slit tongue along with yellow eyes, dark slit in its pupils.

"a talking snake? What is that thing?…" eve thought to herself

Eve- "What are you?... and what do you want from me?"

"Oh please don't be like that young lady. Who I am is not of importance right now, I am but a humble snake who saw a young lady on the brink of an unfortunate death."

Hesitantly eve asked, not even sure if she wants to hear the answer to her question. After a few seconds of studying the snake she finally manages to choke out.

Eve- "and what about the other 2 of the people who came with me., did they make it?"

"...Look for yourself, Young lady." The snake replied with a bit of pause, his expression and tone unreadable as Eve heard him say.

Eve looking back slowly with a horrified expression. Her eyes lay on the corpses of her companions.

Eve horrified chokes out a muffled cry then a full out blown break down.

Eve- "father... please.. why did you leave me here.. im scared.. please I lied im not a warrior i get it now! I was just so scared of letting you go alone..."

eve admit her fears, the cold winter blizzard threaten to freeze the tears on her cheeks as she wiped them away with her freezing hands. If not for her gloves she would have surely bid her farewell to her fingers.

"Young lady... please don't cry as unfortunate as it might sound. Your father and his party thinks you're dead."

Already grieving Eve feels like the world has collapsed before her very eyes. "What did that snake mean by they think I am dead? Does that mean there is no hope of survival for me? Will I never see my father's gentle smile again? Will I never see Adam again?.."

Eve thought to herself as she sobbed. her eyes already puffy and red glistening with tears hot tears.

Eve-"then what now... what do i do now? My tribes located quite far away. A blizzard is starting to pour down what can i do..."

Eve choked out rapidly and surely losing hope of survival. Afterall there is no way to walk back to her Tribe in this freezing blizzard she would surely die, even if she didn't freeze to death she would surely perish from the lack of food and water.

The snake showed no emotions letting her grieve in sadness for a moment before speaking once again.

"Follow me young lady. I have just the solution to all your problems and more..."

The snake slithered away into the forest.

Eve questioned in her mind but not speaking it out loud, "Why is there even a snake in winter?" Everything about the snake was wrong and mysterious. Seriously a talking snake scaring off wolves and surviving just fine in the winter in the middle of a blizzard none the less.

Eve with barely any strength in her limbs she crawled into the forest following the snake.

She can tell the snake is not exactly helping her out of good will. But she's desperate she will do whatever it takes to see her father again.

They arrived at one particular tree in the middle of the forest. Even though its winter. The tree is emitting a bright yellow aura. Along with warmth.

Eve-"wait... is that the-"

Eve instantly recognized the tree, after all her tribe has been worshipping the tree for generations. She was here before many times.

"forbidden tree of knowledge. Yes" the snake replied

Eve still clouded with confusion crawled to the front of the tree and said with a confused expression.

Eve- "I am confused. My tribe along with many other tribes have been working shipping this tree for as long as we can remember. Its a sacred tree that must not be touched no matter what..."

The snake's eyes glowed as it talked to Eve.

"Oh but. Why is it here if not to help those in need? Its our lords intention to help the humans on earth who were unfortunate enough to be stranded in the middle of the blizzard."

Eve with hesitation in her eyes said looking at the forbidden tree.

"Will this tree for sure help with my injuries? Give me enough strength and will to go back and meet my father?"

If the snake could he would be grinning with the biggest smile right about now.

"Why yes. I can guarantee it. Infact I am the guardian of the forbidden tree!"

Hesitantly Eve crawled up to the forbidden tree picking up an apple from the branch she takes a bite.

"Thereby starting the war between Humans and gods along with the 100 years of pure war, chaos, a decade of pure blank history."

I read last page of the book loudly to myself and close the book.
