Synopsis

Prologue

"Hayden? What's wrong with you, Hayden, sweetie?" Mrs. Simmons asked worriedly.

"I'm not feeling so well, Mom. It's just cold; I might as well rest a little bit, and it will pass, hopefully—" *cough* *cough* Hayden pretended to cough.

"Oh boy, what to do? Are you really going to attend school today? Since you clearly do not feel well." His mom began to slightly panic.

"Mom, I insist. I want to go to school today and not miss any important subjects. I want to have a fruitful future after I graduate from college and don't want to fall behind others."

"No, no, no, darling! How can you just ignore your health like that? Honey, please help me persuade our poor child," Mrs. Simmons looked at her husband with a pleading expression.

"Okay, okay, okay, I will personally call one of the higher-ups at your school and tell him the specific details regarding your leave," Mr. Simmons responded in order to calm his wife down.

"Wow, just wow! Can't you see he's faking it? Are you really letting him trick you for like countless thousands of times? It's just the same acting over and over again!" Hailey grumbled from outside Hayden's room.

"Hey, brat! How can you speak ill in front of your sick brother like that? Can you show a bit of empathy?" Mrs. Simmons scolded Hailey.

"It's okay, Mom. I'm sure she didn't mean it. We just need to be thankful that she's healthy. I know she cares." Hayden winked at Hailey while both of their parents' eyes were looking at his sister with an unpleasant expression.

Meanwhile, Hailey raised her eyebrow, having her suspicion proven correct.

"Ugh, why am I always the bad guy here? Can we just go already? I'm going to be late for my clubhouse presentation at school?" His sister finally surrendered, knowing she would never win this argument.

"How can she be such a self-centered fool at a time like this?" Mrs. Simmons rolled her eyes at her daughter's retreating figure downstairs.

"Okay, Mom, can we just appreciate that my sister was still in perfect state? It's not like I wished for this to happen. Just go easy on her, Mom and Dad."

"Ahh, my boy grew up too fast." Mrs. Simmons kissed Hayden's cheeks and forehead before closing the door and finally leaving their house along with Hailey and Mr. Simmons in their high-end 1970s golden Mustang Ferrari."

(Fourth wall break)

"Cringe, that was my worst acting performance of all time.

Oh, you're all here? Well, before I start my intro, let me introduce myself. Hello, I'm Hayden Simmons, just an ordinary dude who wants to live without regrets.

Being a teenager in high school was one of the most, if not the most, boring eras of my life. Listening to the teachers grumble for an hour without stopping—only they can relate. It's not that I don't like being in class; it's just that I want to have a day off for once... or twice... or thrice... or multiple times.

Oh, further away from the topic: being able to just calm my mind and take a refreshing break is just what I—no, what we all need.

Without further ado, welcome to my world, the world of Hayden Simmons Daily Mail."
