Chapter 141 - Chapter 141: Akatsuki's Unease

At the Akatsuki organization's base, Satoru gazed up at the distant sky, a calm expression in his clear eyes. He understood why the organization's recent activities had increased across various nations—it was all preparation for the war to come.

The Tailed Beast Collection Plan was set to begin in the coming days. Though he wasn't privy to every detail as an alternate member, Satoru could still deduce the general movements of the Akatsuki.

Unbeknownst to the organization, he had already leaked some key information regarding Akatsuki's plans, including their attempts to capture the Tailed Beasts.

With this, Satoru surmised, the organization's efforts would face significant resistance.

A sly smile crept across his face. He was playing a dangerous game.

He had joined Akatsuki not to align with their goals, but to keep an eye on Black Zetsu, the one he deemed most dangerous. In his opinion, Black Zetsu's cunning and patience made him a far greater threat than any straightforwardly powerful enemy.

"Not afraid of strength, but of a patient and manipulative foe," Satoru muttered to himself. Black Zetsu embodied this perfectly.

Satoru had no desire to engage in a centuries-long chess game with Black Zetsu. He preferred quick, decisive action.

Yet, to his frustration, Black Zetsu had proved even more elusive than expected. Despite his presence in Akatsuki, Satoru hadn't been able to catch a trace of him.

"Such a cautious rat," he mused, shaking his head with a helpless chuckle.

But caution had its limits. Satoru doubted Black Zetsu could maintain his composure in the face of repeated failures. He planned to push him further, hoping to provoke a mistake.

Soon, Satoru's strategy bore fruit.

Kakuzu and Hidan returned to base, injured from a failed mission.

"This doesn't make sense," Hidan grumbled. "It's like the Sand Shinobi knew exactly what we were planning."

Kakuzu nodded grimly. "Their defense was too well-prepared. Someone tipped them off."

Meanwhile, other members of Akatsuki reported setbacks in their missions.

Sitting at the head of the group, Pain listened calmly before speaking. "It seems our plans have been partially leaked."

His sharp eyes scanned the room, studying each member.

Pain was confident in the loyalty of the individuals he had chosen, yet the possibility of betrayal lingered in his mind. Was it one of them? Or had they been outmaneuvered by an external force?

At the same time, hidden in the shadows, Black Zetsu was far less composed.

For centuries, he had orchestrated events with meticulous care, inching closer to his ultimate goal. And now, with the Tailed Beast Collection Plan underway, success seemed within reach.

But these failures—the organization's inability to capture even a single Tailed Beast—threatened to derail everything.

The irritability was evident even to Uchiha Obito, who silently observed the group. His gaze lingered on Uchiha Itachi, seated second from the left.

Could it be him?

Obito had always suspected Itachi's loyalty. While Itachi had cooperated with him in the past, Obito couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.

For years, he had kept a close watch on Itachi, assigning a partner to monitor his actions.

Yet, even with such tight surveillance, Obito couldn't confirm if Itachi was the leak. The timing and precision of the information suggested otherwise.

Itachi, meanwhile, harbored his own suspicions. The speed and accuracy with which Akatsuki's plans had been exposed were startling. But he wasn't entirely displeased—another unknown force opposing Akatsuki might provide the leverage he needed.

Itachi's sharp gaze narrowed slightly as he contemplated the organization's deeper secrets. His cover remained intact, but he knew the day would come when he would be forced to act.

Pain broke the tense silence in the room.

"In light of these developments, we'll split up. Each team will target a Tailed Beast individually. Once the easier targets are secured, we'll combine our efforts for the more difficult ones."

His tone was calm but decisive, betraying no hesitation.

"Speed and secrecy are our best weapons now," Pain continued. "The faster we act, the harder it will be for our enemies to predict our moves."

The members of Akatsuki nodded in agreement. For most of them, capturing a Tailed Beast was just another mission.

Even Black Zetsu and Obito approved of the plan. Speed was crucial now—they couldn't afford more delays.

Satoru, listening quietly, smiled faintly.

Advancing the plan? That works for me, he thought. The sooner Black Zetsu grew desperate, the better.

At the same time, in Konoha, the Fifth Hokage Tsunade was deep in thought.

Seated in her office, she listened to a Shadow Ninja's report.

"It seems the information we received was accurate," Tsunade said, sighing.

The mysterious leak had provided detailed intelligence about Akatsuki's movements and their attempts to capture the Tailed Beasts. Initially dismissed as a hoax, the information had proven invaluable.

The Sand Village had successfully repelled Akatsuki's attack on their Jinchuriki, and Konoha had used the intelligence to prepare its own defenses.

"But who sent this information?" Tsunade murmured, her brow furrowed. "And how do they know so much about Akatsuki's plans?"

The questions gnawed at her. Whoever the informant was, their knowledge was alarmingly precise.

Looking up, Tsunade addressed Shizune. "What do you think Akatsuki's ultimate goal is?"

"Power," Shizune replied, after a moment of thought. "The Tailed Beasts are weapons. They must want their power for war."

Tsunade shook her head. "It's more than that. There's something deeper at play here."

She suspected that the leak wasn't just an act of sabotage—it had a purpose. Whoever was behind it wanted the villages to unite against Akatsuki.

For now, all Tsunade could do was prepare Konoha for the battles ahead.
