The clash between legends grew fiercer by the second. Sarutobi, grappling with the combined onslaught of the First and Second Hokages, found himself briefly ensnared by Hashirama's roots. Tobirama took advantage of the moment, emerging from the water with a swift, calculated strike.
The Konoha ANBU observing from outside the barrier tensed.
"Hokage-sama, look out!" one of them shouted, panic seeping into his voice.
"It's the Second Hokage—his water-based attacks are deadly even in an environment like this!"
Their warnings, though loud, were futile within the sealed battleground. The tension outside grew unbearable as they watched Sarutobi struggle to break free.
Suddenly, shuriken laden with explosive tags zipped through the air toward Hashirama and Tobirama. The Hokages dodged effortlessly, their movements a testament to their battle-hardened experience.
Sarutobi's sharp instincts helped him evade the shrapnel, though the detonation left him momentarily staggered. The explosion's shockwave tousled his hair, and a rare frustration escaped him as he coughed from the aftermath.
"Ahem… Can't you aim properly?" Sarutobi rasped, glaring in Satoru's direction. "You'll end up killing me before they do!"
Satoru, feigning innocence, scratched his bandaged head. "Hey, it's not my fault they're faster than I expected. They're legends, after all."
The exasperation on Sarutobi's face deepened. The teenager's nonchalance in the midst of this chaos made him feel a sense of déjà vu, as if he'd dealt with this kind of exasperating energy before.
"This feeling…" Sarutobi thought, his suspicion about Satoru's identity intensifying. "We've met before. I'm certain of it."
Orochimaru, watching from nearby, broke into a low, mocking laugh. "You've had your chance to escape, Sarutobi-sensei. Let's see how you fare now."
His tone darkened as he shifted his attention toward Satoru. The Kusanagi Sword gleamed in his hand, and without hesitation, he swung it toward the boy.
Satoru moved instinctively, dodging with fluid precision while deflecting the strikes with a kunai. Despite his agility, the intensity of Orochimaru's strikes forced him to stay on constant defense.
"Why me?" Satoru muttered, jumping back to avoid another swing. "Go play with your reanimated puppets!"
Orochimaru smirked, his eyes gleaming with twisted amusement. "Why? Because you amuse me, Satoru. And because I don't trust you. Let's see how much you can handle."
As they clashed, Satoru decided to shift the focus. "By the way," he called out, "you can't destroy the reanimated Hokages. The only way to stop them is by sealing them or taking down the caster."
His words brought Orochimaru to a halt, his golden eyes narrowing with suspicion. Sarutobi, mid-battle with Hashirama, also faltered briefly.
"How do you know that?" Sarutobi demanded.
Even Orochimaru seemed caught off guard. "A forbidden technique known by only a select few… How does someone like you have this information?"
Satoru simply shrugged. "Lucky guess?"
Ignoring the stares from both sides, Sarutobi refocused his efforts. He slashed his palm to summon his long-time companion.
"Ape Demon!" he called, and in a burst of smoke, the Enma appeared, ready to fight.
"I see you've dragged me into quite the mess, Sarutobi," Enma muttered before transforming into the Adamantine Staff. Together, they launched a coordinated attack on Orochimaru.
Meanwhile, Satoru faced Tobirama's relentless assaults. The Second Hokage's mastery of water-based techniques and lightning-fast reactions made him a formidable opponent.
"Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!" Satoru exclaimed, launching a stream of fireballs, each one hiding shuriken aimed precisely at Tobirama's vital points.
Tobirama dodged with ease, the shuriken clattering harmlessly against the water-drenched terrain. His experience and instincts were too sharp for such basic attacks to land.
"Yeah, figured that wouldn't work," Satoru muttered, his pale blue eyes scanning for an opening.
Outside the barrier, the watching ANBU and Konoha ninjas couldn't hide their amazement.
"Who is this kid? He's holding his own against the Second Hokage," one muttered.
"But he's outmatched. Time and space ninjutsu is a league of its own," another added grimly.
"Still, how does he know so much about the Reanimation Jutsu? Could he… be connected to Orochimaru?"
"Unlikely," a third replied. "If that were the case, why would he fight against him?"
Back inside the barrier, Satoru darted to the side, narrowly avoiding Tobirama's attack. His short white hair and black robe seemed to dance with his movements, giving him an almost ghostly appearance amidst the chaos.
"I need to rethink my approach," he thought, his eyes darting between Tobirama and the surroundings. "This isn't just about skill; it's about outsmarting him."
Though the battle raged around him, Satoru's expression remained calm, even analytical. For him, this was more than a fight—it was a puzzle to solve.
