Chapter 71 - Chapter 71

Uchiha Obito stared at Satoru, contemplating the attack plan.

Although their location was at the edge of Konoha, any major disturbance would undoubtedly attract attention. Especially on this particular day, when countless eyes were fixed on the Uchiha clan. The slightest commotion would immediately summon a significant number of shinobi.

As a result, large-scale ninjutsu was off the table.

In this situation, Obito could rely only on Kamui, genjutsu, taijutsu, and certain smaller-scale ninjutsu. However, genjutsu was ineffective—Satoru was immune to such attacks. It was a pity since subtle illusions would have been ideal in this scenario.

Obito extended his hands, the chains wrapped around them rattling as they moved under his dark robe. He launched his attack.

"If I'm not mistaken, your teleportation ability isn't limitless," Obito said.

Satoru effortlessly dodged the attack, his movements fluid and composed, as though unaffected by Obito's words. A faint smile flickered beneath his mask.

He's right, but not entirely.

The technique itself wasn't limited in number of uses. However, as it was still an incomplete version, it couldn't yet be used freely without restriction. His earlier display of the skill was deliberate—to plant a seed of caution in Obito's mind. If Obito hesitated for even a moment, it would give Satoru the opportunity to charge and prepare another move.

Fortunately, Obito had attempted a genjutsu attack.

Any genjutsu is ineffective against my Six Eyes.

The Six Eyes allowed him to perceive the truth behind illusions, rendering such attacks useless.

Today's luck seems to be on my side.

Satoru's pale blue eyes grew colder as he analyzed Obito's sharp movements. Beneath the mask, his lips curved in faint admiration.

As expected of an Uchiha—a clan known for their perception.

Even in close combat, Obito had quickly noticed the nuances of Satoru's techniques. But Satoru smirked inwardly.

Unfortunately for him, this is Konoha. He won't go all out here. If he's discovered, the consequences will weigh heavily on him.

As long as Obito held back, Satoru could prolong the fight. His calm expression and cold demeanor reflected this confidence. He sidestepped Obito's relentless attacks, evading them with graceful precision.

Suddenly, Satoru flung a dozen shuriken, aiming them directly at Obito.

"This kind of attack won't work on me," Obito said, his voice low. He didn't even bother dodging as the shuriken phased harmlessly through his body.

The attack, however, had served its purpose. The distance between them narrowed instantly.

Obito extended his pale fingers, closing in on Satoru. In mere moments, he was within striking range.

Facing Obito's close-range attack, Satoru remained unperturbed. Instead of retreating, he stepped forward, shortening the distance between them even further.

Closing the gap is part of my plan too.

To gain the upper hand against a powerful opponent, one needed to find openings in close combat. Only by advancing could he exploit potential weaknesses. Satoru's eyes grew colder, and his aura turned sharper. He gathered his energy subtly, his right hand raising ever so slightly.

In an instant, dark energy began to coalesce in his palm, swirling into a concentrated mass.

Obito's eyes narrowed beneath his mask.

This energy… it seems familiar.

A memory flashed in his mind of a man named Gojo Hagi, whose technique had left a deep impression on him. Was there a connection between Satoru and that man? And what about the "sister" Satoru had mentioned?

What's their relationship with Kakashi?

The sudden influx of questions clouded Obito's thoughts momentarily, but he quickly refocused.

No matter how strange this energy is, it won't matter if it doesn't hit me.

Obito's gaze hardened as he lunged forward, aiming his hand at Satoru's abdomen—a fatal strike. His lips curved into a faint smile beneath the mask.

I'm faster.

However, Satoru remained unfazed. He moved forward calmly, as if he didn't feel the danger inches away from his body. Inwardly, he counted down.

Three… two… one.

The timing was perfect. The teleportation skill had just finished charging, granting him one more use.

At the critical moment, Satoru vanished.

Gone.

Obito's pupils constricted in alarm.

That wasn't an attack—it was bait!

His eyes flicked upward, anticipating Satoru's next move. But it was already too late.

In a flash, Satoru reappeared behind Obito. Without hesitation, he thrust the black energy directly at him.

Bang!

A deafening explosion echoed, sending dust and debris flying. The force of the impact rippled through the area.

As the dust settled, Obito's figure emerged, standing amidst the destruction. His arm hung limp, slightly injured. He stared at Satoru, still standing calmly in the distance, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

He baited me, forced me to switch to my physical form, and timed his attack perfectly.

Obito's mind raced.

How did he discover Kamui's weakness? Was it during the shuriken attack earlier? But could such a brief moment be enough to deduce it?

The precision of Satoru's judgment unsettled him.

Although his combat experience is limited, his insight and decisiveness are remarkable.

Even more impressive was Satoru's audacity. To trust his judgment so completely and act without hesitation was a rare quality.

A faint trace of admiration appeared in Obito's eyes.

"I didn't think you'd be capable of this."
