"No! I can't eat anymore!" Sasuke groaned, slumping forward over the table. He felt as if he had eaten all the ramen he would ever need in his entire life. Though Ichiraku ramen was delicious, he simply couldn't take another bite.
Uchiha Itachi, who had held out just a second longer than his younger brother, put down his chopsticks. Pride dictated that he last longer than Sasuke, even if only by a moment. This was the dignity of an older brother.
Kakashi, who never took the contest too seriously, set his chopsticks down and leaned back. He had already finished and was content to be done.
Naruto, meanwhile, was still pushing himself, determination gleaming in his eyes. With a triumphant shout, he placed his empty bowl down. "I did it! I finished it!" he exclaimed, sweat beading his brow as if he had just completed a challenging mission.
"Ahem." Satoru cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. "Now that the competition has ended, it's time to announce the winner of the mega challenge."
The crowd leaned in, anticipation tightening the air.
"The winner is… Uchiha Shisui!" Satoru's voice echoed across the venue.
Naruto's eyes widened in disbelief. "Huh? I lost?" He turned to look at Shisui, who sat with a serene smile, his eyes curving into cheerful crescents. The bowl in front of him was spotless, having been cleared in record time without anyone noticing.
"Is Shisui really that strong?" Sasuke gasped, astonished. He hadn't even noticed Shisui's progress during the contest.
Even Itachi, who regarded Shisui as a trusted friend, raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. *He really went all out today,* he thought.
Kakashi was equally baffled. *How did he manage that?* He glanced at Shisui's slim frame, wondering where all that ramen had gone.
"Brother Shisui, you're amazing!" Naruto shouted, rushing up to him with admiration glowing in his eyes. "You're the best!"
The spectators erupted into a mix of laughter and chatter.
"An Uchiha won? That's unexpected!"
"Well, three of the contestants were Uchiha, so it makes sense one of them would win."
"But this was the toughest challenge; it's impressive that he completed it."
The lively atmosphere seemed to soften the usual tensions surrounding the Uchiha. For once, discussions about the clan weren't dominated by whispers of suspicion or resentment. Instead, there was genuine interest and respect. Even if it was fleeting, the effect was palpable.
In the judges' seating area, the Third Hokage chuckled warmly. "Hahaha… who would've thought the winner would be from the Uchiha clan?" He looked thoughtful as he observed the subtle shift in the crowd's attitude.
*Is this a coincidence?* he wondered. Or had today's events been orchestrated?
The Third Hokage's mind drifted back to earlier, when Satoru and Teuchi had come to him with the strange request for him to be a judge. The combination had seemed odd, but intriguing. While he liked being involved in community events, his role as Hokage came with risks that made casual participation rare.
Yet, learning that Naruto had been invited and that Uchiha Fugaku would be attending had piqued his interest. He'd chosen to come, if only to keep an eye on the unusual gathering.
Now, seeing the crowd's lightened mood, a small flicker of hope sparked within him. *Could there be a chance for reconciliation between the Uchiha and the village?* But the moment passed, and reality crept back in. The division between the Uchiha and Konoha ran deep, fed by years of mistrust and simmering ambition.
*Am I reading too much into this?* the Third Hokage thought as he turned his gaze back to Satoru. The boy's innocent smile and playful manner seemed almost out of place in this context, yet they had achieved something unexpected.
*He's just a five-year-old,* the Third mused, his expression softening. *Perhaps I am overthinking it.*
