Jin Shang's journey toward the second binding rune takes him across a massive, crumbling bridge suspended over a river of molten lava. The air grows hotter with every step, but an icy wind also begins to blow, creating a strange duality of fire and frost.

"The Frostfire Expanse is guarded by the Sentinel of Frostfire, a creation of the gods meant to suppress even the Titans. You must tread carefully. It's not an opponent you can simply overpower."
Jin tightens his grip on his shadow-forged blade, the glow of his Shadowlight Surge faintly illuminating the path ahead. "I'll adapt, just like I always do."
The Frostfire Sentinel Appears
As Jin nears the end of the bridge, the temperature drops suddenly. A figure emerges from the flames and ice—a towering, humanoid construct made of molten rock and shimmering ice. Its body radiates heat and cold simultaneously, and its eyes glow like twin suns.

The Sentinel speaks in a voice that is both fiery and frigid. "Mortal, your journey ends here. Turn back, or be extinguished by frost and flame."

The Battle Against the Frostfire Sentinel
The fight begins with the Sentinel unleashing waves of fire and ice, creating a chaotic battlefield. Lava erupts from the ground, while shards of ice rain from above. Jin is forced to rely on his agility and Voidwalker Step to evade the deadly attacks.
Erebus provides advice mid-battle:
"Focus on disrupting its core. The Sentinel's strength lies in its balance of fire and ice. Unbalance it, and it will falter."
Jin observes the Sentinel's movements and notices that its attacks alternate between fire and ice. He uses Shadowlight Surge to absorb the elemental energy, redirecting it back toward the Sentinel.
A Turning Point
The Sentinel adapts, summoning a massive frostfire blade and charging at Jin. The construct's speed catches Jin off guard, and he barely manages to block the strike with his shadow-forged weapon. The impact sends him skidding across the battlefield.

Tip: Use Abyssal Binding to immobilize the Sentinel and create an opening.
Jin activates Abyssal Binding, summoning shadowy chains to entangle the Sentinel's legs. The construct struggles, and for the first time, its balance of fire and ice falters. Jin seizes the opportunity to unleash a devastating Chainbreaker Slash, striking directly at the Sentinel's core.
The Sentinel roars in pain, its body cracking as fire and ice erupt uncontrollably.
The Final Blow
With the Sentinel weakened, Jin channels all his energy into a final Shadowlight Surge, creating a vortex of darkness and light that engulfs the battlefield. The attack pierces the Sentinel's core, shattering it into fragments of molten rock and ice.
The battlefield falls silent as the Sentinel collapses, its body dissolving into the ground.

Beyond the Sentinel's remains, Jin discovers the second binding rune, glowing faintly amidst the molten and frozen terrain. This rune is far larger than the first, its divine energy pulsing with an intensity that makes the air hum.
Erebus's voice warns, "Breaking this rune will draw even more attention from the Titans. They won't let you proceed unchallenged."
Jin doesn't hesitate. "Let them come. I'm ready for them."
He uses Chainbreaker Slash to destroy the rune, causing the massive chain attached to it to shatter and fade. The ground shakes violently, and a deep, rumbling voice echoes through the expanse.
The Wrath of a Titan
The voice belongs to one of the Titans themselves, and it shakes the very air around Jin.
"Mortal, you dare to sever our chains? You have no idea what you're unleashing. Continue, and you will face the wrath of Orakos, the Titan of Chaos."
Jin grits his teeth, feeling both fear and exhilaration. "If Orakos is anything like his generals, he'll fall just the same."
A Warning from Erebus
As Jin prepares to move forward, Erebus speaks in a grave tone.
"You're getting stronger, Jin Sang. But be careful. The power you're drawing from the shadows and the system comes at a cost. Each step you take brings you closer to the abyss."
Jin's voice is resolute. "If the abyss is what it takes to get my revenge and stop the Titans, then so be it."
The Path to the Third Rune
The chapter ends with Jin pressing onward, the Frostfire Cloak now enveloping him as he ventures deeper into the Abyss of Chains. The shadows around him whisper warnings, while the faint glow of the third rune beckons him forward.
The Titans' voices grow louder, their rage palpable as they sense their prison weakening. But Jin remains undeterred, his resolve burning brighter than ever.
