Chapter 150: The Coach of Central Youth University
"Huh? Where did that Psychic energy fluctuation just come from?"
Coach Gu Cheng of Central Youth University was baffled as he entered the training room and saw only Hayashi Mei and her Dragonite.
Dressed casually in a white T-shirt, Gu Cheng looked like an ordinary bookworm, with his glasses and a hefty Pokémon Attribute Studies manual hanging from his belt. However, he was anything but ordinary—a Psychic-specialist and a King-tier Trainer.
His responsibility was preparing students for the upcoming Youth League. For universities, these tournaments were critical for their reputation, as strong performances attracted talented applicants.
The Youth League wasn't just about individual prowess; it involved team strategies, with battles that tested synergy across various Pokémon attributes. Trainers who excelled with diverse teams were in high demand.
Moments earlier, Gu Cheng had sensed a powerful wave of Psychic energy, akin to a peak Lord-tier Pokémon. Yet upon entering, the only Pokémon present was a Dragonite.
His confusion deepened as he scanned the room again, finding no trace of another Pokémon. Finally, he turned to Hayashi Mei.
"Mei, are you the only one here?" Gu Cheng asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Yes, Coach," Hayashi Mei replied, pushing her excited Dragonite away gently.
"Did you recently capture a new Psychic-type Pokémon?" Gu Cheng asked, still suspicious.
"Psychic-type?" Hayashi Mei was momentarily puzzled before realization dawned. A small smile appeared on her face. "No, Coach. The Psychic energy came from my Dragonite."
"What?" Gu Cheng froze in disbelief, his brows furrowing. "Your Dragonite?"
Dragonite were known for their diverse skill set during their Dratini and Dragonair stages. Trainers often taught them moves of various attributes to round out their abilities. However, once they evolved into Dragonite, they generally specialized in Dragon-type moves.
Moreover, as a direct descendant of the Hayashi family, renowned for their mastery of Dragon energy, Hayashi Mei's focus had always been on perfecting Dragon-type techniques.
Now she claimed her Dragonite had demonstrated powerful Psychic abilities?
"Yes," Hayashi Mei said, nodding firmly. "Dragonite, show the coach your Psychic abilities."
"Roar~"
Dragonite obediently responded, releasing a surge of Psychic energy that rippled through the room.
As Dragonite's control over its newfound power stabilized, the energy created visible distortions in the air, forming ripples like water disturbed by a stone.
"Huh?"
Gu Cheng's expression shifted from doubt to astonishment as he felt the strength of Dragonite's Psychic abilities.
The power was comparable to that of a Master-tier Psychic-type Pokémon. But this wasn't a Psychic-type—it was a Dragonite!
"Has its headaches been resolved too?" Gu Cheng asked after a long pause, still processing what he had just witnessed.
"Yes, Coach," Hayashi Mei said with a smile. "My brother found a skilled Pokémon Breeder who not only resolved the issue but also identified the cause: Dragonite's latent Psychic talent was causing the pain."
Hayashi Mei recounted the story, silently feeling grateful to her otherwise unreliable brother.
"Who is this Breeder? Could it be Master Luo? But I heard she's been very busy recently," Gu Cheng said, intrigued.
Master-level Breeders in Kyoto were few and far between. It was difficult, if not impossible, to enlist their help, as they were not motivated by money alone.
"No, it's someone else…" Hayashi Mei hesitated for a moment, recalling Hikaru's young age.
The idea still baffled her—at only sixteen or seventeen years old, he was not only the National High School League Champion but also a Breeding expert.
Each accomplishment was extraordinary in its own right. For him to excel at both was almost unreal.
"Who is it?" Gu Cheng pressed, sensing her reluctance to answer.
"Apologies, Coach. You might find this hard to believe, but the Breeder is someone you've heard of—Hikaru, this year's High School League Champion," Hayashi Mei finally revealed.
Gu Cheng's eyebrows shot up. "Who? Hikaru?"
…
Three Days Later…
In northeastern Huaguo, the quiet town of Wave Aura stood under a clear August sky.
After three days of relentless travel, Hikaru finally arrived on August 3rd, aided by modern transportation and Latias' aerial abilities in areas inaccessible by conventional means.
Next to him, Latias had taken her humanoid form, skipping along with excitement.
"The story of the Aura King could really be turned into a novel," Hikaru mused, glancing at the serene but somewhat desolate town.
"Huh?" Latias tilted her head curiously, her bright eyes sparkling with anticipation.
She loved listening to Hikaru's stories more than anything and tugged on his sleeve eagerly.
"How does it go, Hikaru?"
Latias' smile widened as she held his hand, her joy evident.
"Give me some time to finish our current tale. After we deal with Mew and the Tree of Life, I'll think about how to start this one," Hikaru said thoughtfully.
"Okay~"
Latias' mood soared, and she began scanning her surroundings with her psychic abilities, recording every detail.
Hikaru knew she loved documenting the landscapes of their travels. Though she couldn't draw them on the spot, she always sketched from memory when they settled down to rest.
However, Wave Aura seemed unusually quiet, with fewer people than he had expected...
