Chapter 161: The Psychic Family!

The conversation between the group made the Enforcement Captain and his subordinates tactfully retreat a little further.

As for Leo Damnson, he was slightly dazed.

Henry Damnson wasn't wrong; he had indeed been undergoing a form of "closed-door cultivation" recently, trying to push his psychic abilities to the advanced level. Unfortunately, a month of meditation hadn't yielded the desired breakthrough. Instead, impatience had taken root, stalling any progress.

This was why Henry Damnson wasn't familiar with Hikaru's fame. Worse, he had been assigned a mission by the Alliance, further souring his mood.

In their family, those who awakened psychic abilities were required to maintain an unflappable demeanor—serenity was vital for psychic growth.

In simpler terms, this meant avoiding intense emotional fluctuations. But Leo often failed to grasp this concept, unable to keep his emotions in check. His excitement skyrocketed when he saw the Latias beside Hikaru.

Wasn't this the legendary Pokémon their family records revered as one of the strongest Psychic-types?

Compared to the flourishing Leaf Clan, the Damnson family—known for its Psychic abilities and expertise with Pokémon like Gardevoir—lacked what exactly?

They lacked a dominant Pokémon species to elevate their status!

If the Damnson family could secure Pokémon like Latias and Latios, along with their iconic Gardevoir, the clan's strength would reach unprecedented heights.

Previously, they'd only heard of such Pokémon appearing in Alto Mare. Despite thorough searches, their efforts were futile. Latias and Latios, with their exceptional cloaking abilities, were nearly impossible to locate unless they chose to appear.

After some fruitless attempts, the family decided to move on.

And now, right before Leo's eyes, stood a Trainer with such a Pokémon. No wonder his excitement was palpable.

Henry Damnson, on the other hand, restrained Leo. She, too, understood Latias's significance to their family.

In the realm of Psychic-type Pokémon, the standout species were Gardevoir and Gallade. Other Psychic-types like Alakazam were too one-dimensional, and Slowking was exceedingly rare. As for Espeon, which had been studied in recent years, it required the elusive bond condition to evolve—far from reliable.

After the National High School League concluded, the Damnson family had quickly arranged to send representatives to Kyoto to approach Hikaru. The goal? To glean any secrets about Latias or Latios.

But surprisingly, just days later, Hikaru had left Kyoto for the remote town of Aura?

Among the family's younger generation, the directive was clear: should they encounter Hikaru, they must establish a good relationship.

"I was curious about this town after hearing the story of the Aura Guardian," Hikaru replied nonchalantly.

This Damnson family, which even Leo had mentioned, appeared to be no ordinary clan. Two young Trainers in their twenties, both Psychic users—one with psychic strength comparable to Hikaru's, and the other surpassing him—indicated their extraordinary lineage.

Though Hikaru had never heard of the Damnson family, it was evident they preferred to keep a low profile.

"I see. I'm Henry Damnson, and this is my cousin, Leo Damnson. I apologize for his earlier impoliteness."

Henry's voice was clear and cool, yet her apology was genuinely sincere.

Her demeanor was polite, and since Hikaru didn't want to escalate the situation, he chose to let it go.

From Henry's earlier behavior, Leo also began piecing things together.

So, this seemingly ordinary high schooler was this year's National High School League Champion? Moreover, a user of Aura?

The former wasn't too surprising—after all, the league produced a champion every year. But the latter? Aura was exceedingly rare!

Though it seemed Henry already knew about Latias, Leo felt like he had missed something significant during his one-month retreat. Had Latias been revealed during the league matches?

As Henry's gaze shifted to the Raticate held by Gardevoir's psychic grasp, she asked, "And this Raticate?"

"This is the leader of the recent Raticate swarm. A Lord-tier Raticate, to be precise. I'll leave it to you."

With that, Hikaru called out, "Gardevoir!"

Understanding her Trainer's intent, Gardevoir handed over the subdued Raticate.

The Alliance would determine how to handle Pokémon that invaded human territories. They might re-educate, relocate, or—in extreme cases—humanely euthanize. The latter, however, was exceedingly rare.

"Got it," Henry replied, taking out a Poké Ball. "Come out, Gardevoir."

A graceful Gardevoir emerged.

[Pokémon: Gardevoir]

[Ability: Synchronize]

[Gender: Female]

[Talent: Elite]

[Strength: Level 51]

[Moves: Psychic, Psyshock, Dazzling Gleam, Hypnosis, Shadow Ball, Protect, Teleport...]

A Master-level Gardevoir.

When the two Gardevoir exchanged psychic energies during the handover, their gazes briefly locked.

Hikaru's Gardevoir radiated liveliness, while Henry's exuded calm detachment.

After securing the Raticate, Henry asked, "Hikaru, could I trouble you for your contact information? We might need your help for further investigations."

"Sure."

Hikaru didn't mind exchanging contact details, and the process was straightforward.

Afterwards, Henry cast a quick glance at Latias before retracting her gaze.

No Damnson family member could remain indifferent to the allure of Latias or Latios. The synergy between their abilities and Psychic-types like Gardevoir was undeniable.

However, Henry knew better than to rush.

"Thank you again for your help, Hikaru. I'll report this incident to the Alliance, and if there's any reward, I'll let you know via text."

"Thanks," Hikaru replied, though his primary focus was on locating the World Tree within Qinling Mountains.

As for any potential rewards? That was secondary.

"Alright then, Hikaru. Until we meet again."

With Gardevoir controlling the Raticate, Henry turned to leave.

Leo, however, was visibly reluctant. Encountering Latias was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—how could they walk away so easily?

But a subtle glance from Henry silenced him. Though puzzled, Leo followed her lead.

A sharp whistle summoned two Pidgeot, which carried the siblings skyward and back towards their destination.
