Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Entering the Business World, Danger Lurks Everywhere

Gu Xinglan stood in the spacious, well-lit CEO's office, gazing out at the bustling city below. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights were beginning to twinkle, and streams of cars wove through the streets. The vibrant chaos of urban life unfolded beneath her, yet her gaze remained calm and unyielding, betraying no emotion.

Just two days ago, she had been an ordinary secret agent, navigating a world filled with smoke and perilous missions. But now, she had been transported into the pages of a dramatic and overly clichéd novel, assuming the identity of a ruthless and cold-hearted antagonist—Gu Xinglan, the female CEO. The character's fate in the story was already sealed: betrayed by her fiancé, backstabbed by her closest confidants, and ultimately losing her company in the midst of internal strife and external pressure—a tragic downfall on the battlefield of commerce.

But fate had rewritten itself. Gu Xinglan was no longer the same "Gu Xinglan" from the novel. She brought with her the sharp instincts and unshakable resolve honed from countless life-and-death missions. Now that destiny had handed her this chance, she had no intention of treading the thorny path of her predecessor.

"Su Yao, is the meeting ready to begin?" Gu Xinglan asked, her voice calm yet imbued with authority.

Su Yao, her secretary, was a seemingly unremarkable but loyal and capable young woman. "Yes, President Gu. All the executives are already in the conference room," she replied, clutching a folder with a trace of nervousness in her expression.

Gu Xinglan nodded and strode toward the meeting room. She knew today's meeting would be her first step in securing her position. The outcome of this "battle" would determine her future standing in the company.

Power Struggles and Hidden Agendas

As Gu Xinglan pushed open the conference room door, her sharp gaze swept across the room. Inside, the company's senior executives were chatting in small groups. The atmosphere appeared relaxed, but an undercurrent of tension lingered.

Sitting on either side of the long table were some key players in the company:

Lin Qiang, the CFO, a seasoned middle-aged man with a composed demeanor. As one of the company's founding members, he controlled the financial lifeblood of the business but was known for his conservative and exclusionary tendencies.Zhao Gang, the Marketing Director, a brash young man whose ambition radiated from his every word and action. He was often impatient and dismissive of others.Sun Yue, a representative from a partner company. Shrewd and pragmatic, she prioritized personal gain above all else.

Gu Xinglan instantly recognized the faces and names from the novel. Among them, she knew there were potential adversaries and allies. However, at this moment, most were observing her with skepticism or wariness, unsure of how to gauge this newly appointed CEO.

"Let's begin," Gu Xinglan announced. Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable gravitas. The murmurs in the room ceased immediately as all eyes turned toward her.

Taking her seat, she opened the folder before her and skimmed its contents. The materials, meticulously prepared by Su Yao, outlined the company's recent issues, with an emphasis on some troubling financial anomalies.

"Some discrepancies have been identified in the company's accounts," Gu Xinglan stated bluntly, forgoing any pleasantries.

Her words were like a stone cast into a calm lake, stirring ripples of unease. Lin Qiang furrowed his brow, trying to maintain his composure, but a flicker of tension betrayed him. Zhao Gang, on the other hand, sneered, radiating disdain.

"President Gu, are you suggesting there's been an oversight in the company's finances?" Zhao Gang asked, his tone laced with skepticism. "Perhaps someone in a department made a mistake."

Ignoring him, Gu Xinglan turned to Lin Qiang. "Mr. Lin, as the CFO, you oversee the company's financial flows. What's your take on this?"

Lin Qiang adjusted his glasses, letting out a forced laugh. "President Gu, our department has always maintained strict oversight. Any anomalies are likely minor oversights. I'll have my team investigate immediately."

"Is that so?" Gu Xinglan smiled coldly and tossed a stack of documents onto the table. "Last night, I reviewed the reports and discovered three transfers totaling five million yuan. These funds were deposited into an account belonging to a company we have no dealings with—a company that happens to be one of our competitors."

The room fell silent, stunned by the gravity of her revelation.

"I expect an explanation," she said, her gaze sharp as a blade, fixed on Lin Qiang.

Lin Qiang's face turned pale, his lips trembling as he struggled for words. Zhao Gang stood abruptly. "President Gu, I believe we need more time to thoroughly investigate this matter before jumping to conclusions."

"Jumping to conclusions?" Gu Xinglan's voice turned icy. "Mr. Zhao, let me make one thing clear. This company is the foundation of everyone's livelihood here, not a tool for personal gain. If no one provides a reasonable explanation today, I'll have no choice but to handle this according to company policy."

Her pointed remarks struck like arrows. The room was stifled by the heavy atmosphere as no one dared to respond.

Strategy and Precision

After the meeting, Su Yao hurried to catch up with Gu Xinglan, whispering, "President Gu, how did you uncover those financial irregularities?"

"Instincts from the field," Gu Xinglan replied with a faint smirk.

In truth, she had conducted a meticulous investigation of the company's accounts and personnel the moment she took over. As a seasoned operative, she knew that only by controlling the flow of information could she maintain the upper hand in this chaotic battlefield.

"Keep a close eye on both the finance and marketing departments," she instructed. "And monitor Lin Qiang and Zhao Gang closely. They're not simple characters."

Su Yao nodded, her admiration for the new CEO evident. She understood now that Gu Xinglan was far from ordinary.

Back in her office, Gu Xinglan sat at her desk, fingers tapping rhythmically on the surface as she began drafting her next strategy. She knew this power struggle was just beginning, and she was determined to emerge as the true master of this business empire.
