The moon appeared beautifully in the sky, shining brightly over the surroundings of Aveline's pack. She sat alone in her room, staring at the carvings on the wall and documents on the big table. Her thoughts were busy and filled with a mixture of doubt, anger, and suspicion. Suddenly, a knock sounded and broke the silence.
She opened the door to find Gabriel standing there. His face was pale, his eyes were showing the sign of tiredness. He looked like a man carrying the burden of everyone else.
"We need to talk," he said while whispering.
Aveline hesitated, then stepped aside to let him in.
As soon as the door closed, Gabriel leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. "The attack on the council hall wasn't just a warning. It was a declaration of war."
