The alarm continues blowing continuously, its shrill cries bouncing off the cold metal walls of the facility. Aveline and Gabriel were cornered, surrounded by guards armed to the teeth, and wolves shifting into their wolf forms.
Gabriel's sharp eyes moved around, checking for any opening. "We need a distraction," he whispered, and his hold on his weapon became more tightened.
Aveline nodded, her mind racing. "There is a small opening for ventilation. If we can reach it, we might be able to escape through it."
Gabriel gave her a brief, encouraging look. "I'll hold them off. You get to the space over there."
"Not a chance," she replied immediately. "We do this together."
