Chapter 5 - 5.) Coming to an understanding

An: hey guys. I realize I didn't explain his origins very well at the beginning of this. I was thinking of a doppelgänger angle. It's said primordials can revive through their descendants. I think I'm going this route. Let me know.

I've also read all the comments. Here we get to see the truth of Scott being far above a regular vampire.

Scott Pov

As I'm holding the younger Salvatore in my grip instinct kicks in again and I speak to him, "sit down on the bed and do not speak." I say staring at him. Talking with fangs is hard let me tell ya, but I see his eyes glaze over before he follows my command.

'Holy shit. I can compel other vampires? How?' I think as I see him sit. I decide to speak.

"Why have you attacked me?" He answers robotically, proving he's still being controlled.

"I wanted to find out if you're a threat." He says. I can tell he's just as confused as I am that he's being controlled by me like a puppet on strings.

I decide since I'm currently sitting with someone over 100 years old he could help me. "Have you ever seen a vampire like me?"

All I get is a shake of the head. Dammit. If I remember right only the originals and upgrades could compel other vampires. So what does this mean for me? While Stefan is the weakest he's ever been right now thanks to animal blood, he's still over a century old.

That means he would've wiped the floor with me had I been a run of the mill standard vampire like both he and Caroline.

Damon is currently in the same boat until he gets injected with that serum that allows him to feed on the blood of other vampires. But damon is also shown to constantly fight off vampires much much older than him. This and the fact Stefan came into my 'territory' means I will deal with the two brothers differently.

This time Stefan asks a question, "H-how are you walking in the sunlight?" I begin to ask what the hell he's talking about before looking down and seeing I don't have a daylight ring yet I've been strolling around in the sun without burning to a crisp.

I answer him honestly, "I don't know. I woke up a bit ago in some tomb about 100 miles or so from here. Deep in the mountains. How do you do it?" I ask trying to feign ignorance.

He showed me his ring. A gaudy thing which makes me believe all the more that Katherine Pierce commissioned it. I decided I like this ability to make people answer my questions. If I can compel vampires I really don't care how I do it. That can all come later.

"I think it's time we come to an understanding Mr.Salvatore don't you?"I ask him as I stand and begin to make my way towards him. He nods bravely but I can feel his emotions. They're pure terror. If I remember right he doesn't have the memories of his time with Klaus and Rebekah, so asking him anything about them won't give me answers.

"You and I shall keep things respectful. For instance, the next time you wish to have a conversation you will knock on my door or call me," I say going to the table and writing my stolen phone number down onto a sticky note in a pile left by the motel.

He nods and grabs the paper. I decide to make this fun. Mess with him a bit. Before he can grab the paper I've blurred in front of him and held his face with both my hands, my eyes turning completely black.

"You will only remember that I accepted your threats and we exchanged numbers. Close your eyes. When you wake up my commands will be all you remember of this meeting."

With that I snap his neck and blur him across town toward the Salvatore property. I quickly dump him in his bed after knocking on his door and compelling zach. I'd thought vervain would keep me out of his mind but it was still easy. Huh, So by my calculations I'm immune to sunlight and vervain? Odd. I'd watched all of the originals but didn't finish The vampire diaries. Maybe this was shown in the later seasons?

I decide to stop thinking about it and return to my abode. On my way I began thinking about where I could stay. I'll need a human in the house to keep vampires out. But that will come later.

After a leisurely walk through town in which I made conversation and connections with the townsfolk I return back at my room to see one of the worst people possible. At least right now. Grams Shelia Bennett.

She looks at me with her head cocked to the side while I swallow and decide to at least start this cordially. "Hello. What can I do for you?" I ask trying to keep the nervousness out of my voice and sticking my hand out.

Sure The Originals and upgraded variants are scary, but a witch can hurt you without even laying a hand on you. This is why I'm being so cautious while against Stefan I just used brute force.

She answers me, "what are you?" Without bringing her hand to mine. My confusion must've been clear because she clarified, "I've never seen one like you."

I have an ah ha moment as I figure out she knows I'm a vampire. "May I ask what gave me away? I'd thought I was rather discreet." I say while gesturing into my room but she shakes her head.

"I will not go into a closed area with you. As for how I knew? We witches can feel things."

Flashback to a little earlier

After school today Bonnie can storming in talking about people drinking blood and the new kids at school. I instantly recognize one of their names, Stefan Salvatore. He was always gentle and kind.

But the new name, Scott Corvinus, is one I'd never heard. That sur-name sounds old though. Something I've learned means a lot in the supernatural world.

Seeing my Bonnie's obvious interest in the unknown vampire I began asking question after question. The main thing I get though is when she tells me he looks like he's on fire.

That's another check in the odd box. I'd never heard of any supernatural creature with that ability.

This all lead me to right now speaking to the teenager outside his motel room. I wouldn't tell him about Bonnie. Better to keep them away from eachother.

I can see the flame-like aura appear around him. Instantly I went from feeling guarded to comfortable, I realize in an instant he's using magic of some kind. I gasp and break eye contact while speaking.

"How are you doing that?" I ask.

He responds, "doing what?" Making me think he might actually not know. But I can't take chances. Vampires are never to be trusted.

"You look like you're on fire."

I see him look at himself and seemingly freaking out. 'Ah, so not a trick to make me let my guard down.' I think before speaking to him.

"We haven't had vampires here in a long long time. It's been peaceful. Quiet. I want it to stay that way." I say to him beginning to cause a small aneurysm only for one to come right back at me.

He speaks to me now after recovering from the mental attack, "I don't know what that was but it won't happen again." He says with his eyes turning completely black. Ah it seems my attack upset him.

He continued speaking after his own threat was made clear, "I have no intention of stirring up trouble. I've been awake for less than a month only to realize I'm a vampire. Forgive me for not having all the answers." He says taking a deep breath before continuing.

"I will however try to stay out of trouble. I definitely don't want to end up like the others." He says subtly telling me he's aware of the tomb. That's another thing to discuss later.

I nod and begin to leave when he speaks, "hey, can I stay in touch with you? Afterall, who better to help you deal with something physical than me? And who better than you to help me magically should something ever come up?"

I smile at the kids enthusiasm. it seems he doesn't understand the nature of witches and vampires which only furthers my belief he's telling the truth about just waking up.

I decide to respond to him turning to look over my shoulder, "no. I'm sorry. But for centuries vampires and witches have had rocky relations." He sighs but nods and I head home. Time to tell Bonnie about the truth of the world and our family.

An: hey guys, want all these meetings out of the way before we get into serious plot stuff. Let me know what you think.

Also, before I get comments saying, "why's he not attacking shelia? He's a puss," I want you to go back through the book and read how many times the kid has spoken about being scared of magic and witches.

Thanks guys. See ya.
