Chapter 24 - The Life as a New Lord

[Mirai]

Mr Po: "Lord Mirai!"

Utsusuki: "My lord!"

Kenta: "Mi– I mean, my lord!"

Yeah, that's right, It might seem hard to believe but I've become a Lord of a nation, granted it was way faster than I thought, I could've never expected to start my dream this quickly– Though with my dreams came a responsibility that I knew of…just wasn't prepared for.

I would often seek refuge in the forest, sitting on the log that started it all, just as I am now, the calm breeze blowing through my hair in a calming caress.

It's been over three months since the incident with the so called Akai Kiba, their fraudulence costed me false hope- hope that I would get some kind of intel on the ones that had burned my town the ground…Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, the feeling of the fire that night still warm against my skin.

Though with their defeat came to be the birth of this little town I will soon turn into an empire, the soon to be shogunate! We've made a lot of repairs from the destruction this whole situation had caused, the roads were finally smoothened out and the rice fields were perfect to provide food for my people once more.

Once this whole repair thing is over we'll immediately invest in outsourcing to lesser villages, and seek out more refugees from the wars that have been happening lately.

"My lord!" Utsusuki came with a start.

He came barging in with a start, his brow riddled with sweat and his clothes battered. He panted like a dog within my presence, the hands of my right hand man digging into the wooden wall before he stood up prestably to deliver the news.

"Well? Out with it," I commanded, turning to him to see the urgent look on his face.

"People outside of the village, they claimed to have unfinished business with you, my lord."

"With me…" I murmured to myself, my heart beating a little faster at the sudden visit. Oh great, I've been a lord for three months and already have enemies? How is that even possible!?

"Yes, they bare the crest of Aokaze Mura," He stated, "They refuse to see anyone but you…"

I took a moment before rising from my seat, giving him a soft nod.

"Take me to them," I commanded, Utsusuki following my instructions and started to lead the way.

[Notice! The opponents ahead are hostile, interact at your own risk,] That voice rang in my head again, I call it my instinct, it seemingly always come up when danger is near but it also occasionally tell me how strong my foes actually are–

Though I didn't need that to tell me. At the end of the village, we came face to face with the warriors that demanded my presence, before me stood a woman with long blonde hair that draped down her figure like a river of gold. Her size towered over mine, a naginata held in her muscled grasp and a judging ember gaze that would peirce me overheard.

So this is your leader? I expected more than a youngin playing lord." She spat with a condescending expression, walking up to me with her weapon planted on the ground, her chiseled torso on full display with her chest wrapped to keep them out of her way.

Two others stood by her side, a blue haired samurai wielding a katana, his slender fingers sprawled over the hilt of his blade just in case. His facial features were sharp and dangerous, though slender and pale, there was something about him that exceeds the naked eye.

And let's not forget the last, a seasoned warrior who wielded a Tetsubo upon his back, the club-like weapon a testament to his physical strength, despite being on the short and pudgy side.

"What are you here for," I spoke calmly, my words leaving no room for them to beat around the bush though the woman seemed to appreciate my bluntness, bending over slightly just to stare me properly in the eye.

"We're here to take back our young lord!" She declared, the others behind her nodding in agreement to her request.

What? Lord? As far as I'm certain, I'm the only lord here! Could it be someone from the so-called Akai Kiba? No– it can't be, we took no prisoners so what- or who could we possibly have that they want back so badly.

"We do not possess the young lord you're in search of," Utsusuki declared, his voice firm as he spoke to the warriors before us, his words seemingly pissing off the giantess and standing before me.

"We've only come here to speak with the lord of this pitiful village, ya got that!?" The woman roared, pointing her naginata at Utsusuki, "Speak out of turn again and we'll just rock ya just like last ti–"

"You'll do no such thing!" I snapped, my words cutting off the giantess in the middle of her violent rant, her gaze turned once more to me with an expression slightly taken aback by my tone.

"It's as he says, we hold no lord here, young or otherwise," I spoke, my words leaving more room for them to pry any further, though my words only proved to provoke her even more, the grip of her blade tightening on her naginata.

[Warning, warning: attack Incoming!] My instinct blared, eyes widening as I leaned back as far as I could, narrowly missing the deadly swing of her weapon.

"Tch-" I let out a hiss of discomfort as I tried to regain my steps, my hands drawing my blade forth with practiced ease.

"Well if you wont talk, then we'll just have to pry the intel out of ya!" The warrior roared, the other two stepping up to help her deal with the matter.

"My lord–" Utsusuki called out, his hand rushing to his blade.

"Stop!" I commanded, causing the injured warrior to look at me with a confused and concerned expression.

"You're hurt— don't come any closer," I turned my attention back to the group, watching as they slowly surrounded me with their weapons bare. "I'll take care of this…"
