Chapter 63 - Love Story

Mother engulfed me in her arms the moment I walked through the door. I felt her tears in my hair and my own tears flowed onto her fancy clothing. All three of my ladies maids bounced around me with concern and then excitement.

"The whole city is still in lockdown," Ann reported in as grim a voice as she could manage with the high pitchness of it.

"They haven't found the assassin," Angel shuddered.

Addy scoffed, "They will, they will. We have to get to work on her new outfit. King Onyx wants the people to know she is okay and that the wedding is still on.

I shuddered when I heard the word.

Wedding.

Mother eventually let go of me, if only to eat her breakfast. I waited for mine and when it didn't come I was confused.

A soft knock sounded at the door.

I opened it just a crack to find Onyx holding an armful of red roses.

"I hoped you would join me for breakfast this morning," He said in a much calmer voice than I had ever heard.
