After a while, Vini breaks the silence.
"You don't know, what they would've wanted. Nobody does. Afterall they are dead ."
Marcus sighs," you sure are a tough nut to crack aren't you.
Maybe I alone won't be enough."
Vini didn't understand what Marcus meant.
"Tell me this Vini, why didn't you use
Your time powers to a greater extent?"
Vini was confused," I didn't see a use for them. They are pretty meaningless to me."
Marcus has a slight grin on his face, " Is that so, young lad.
But from where I see it, you could've used them for so many things. So many misfortunes you could've prevented. So many lives saved. Yet you didn't. You just choose to sit back not do anything.
You see you have faults too.
Different faults from others but who are you to judge them. Maybe on a different day you could've been the ignorant one.
As you said you, your parents didn't deserve to die because of the faults of a single man.
You say humans are awful creatures. You think I don't know that,
The people I deal with with today are meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surely they are like this because they can't tell good from evil.
Evil, wicked and bad people are just part of our universe. Asking the world to not present you with these people is like asking a vine to be without thorns.
Don't be ridiculous . Bad people exist and in your life , you will encounter them.
But I also believe in the good in people. When people do bad things, they do it mostly due to ignorance. And sometimes we can't even help them.
But that shouldn't distract you from the good.
We are all born for each other. That's the point of being a human.
Don't pray for bad things not to happen. That is a fool's errand. Those things will happen and there's nothing you can do about it. You have to endure it.
You can control how you react to them.
Don't be sad when it happens, be happy that you have the tools to make it through. Bear these events as a brave man. Then you realise, these supposedly bad events are just opportunities to persist and raise above. To keep going forward."
Vini was quiet.
Marcus was shocked. "Oh my! Do you have nothing to say, young lad?"
Vini replies," though I still don't believe in what you say a hundred percent. I guess if we have to live in this world, it is better I try to look at the positives a lot more "
Upon hearing this, Marcus smiles,
Vini then adds on, " Afterall a great man once said,
Don't argue with a good man. Be one",
Upon hearing this, Aurelius bursts out laughing," Well that is certainly true "
" Don't get on your high horse just yet. I still don't believe in half of the things you say." Vini says.
Marcus was still happy," Well , atleast you are starting to believe in half of it. I am glad I could be of help."
After that they spent the rest of the evening chatting away,
" You know, I have heard, one of my diaries get published in the future. You should read it.
From what I've heard, it is called Meditations " Marcus comments with a calm voice.
"Oh my, would you look outside, it's dark.
Guess we should sleep.
Here's a little fun fact for you, even I don't like waking up in the morning. I also hate the sensation of leaving my comfort and warm Bed in the morning."
Hearing this Vini laughs," Guess that's another thing we have in common"
With that they bid each other a night and go to bed.
In his sleep he gets another dream
"So how was it?"
Vini was startled to hear that voice again.
"You again!
Well I guess it was quite well.
So what do I get to go back home now"
" Not yet. I suppose"
Vini gets irritated," so what I spend another day with, Marcus Aurelius?
I mean I guess I okay with that as well..."
"Well,.. that is not something you can do, I am afraid "
"What do you mean??"
Suddenly, Vini wakes up.
He looks around his room, it was not the same room he was in.
This room was a lot more civilized, with modern furniture and accessories. He looks out the window and gets surprised.
He was in 19th century Europe.
France, to be more particular.
