Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Qin Li watched as the unidentified flying object crashed through the window and rolled to his feet in just three seconds. Though he couldn't understand why this oddball had chosen such a dramatic entrance, he couldn't help but be shocked. Unable to hold back, he said, "This... disordered sir, are you here to make me laugh tonight? There's no need to give such a grand display of prostration."

"I am Count Berkeley of the Berkeley family. What's going on with this damned cross? As a purebred vampire, I should not be suppressed by your broken church," the UFO on the ground suddenly shifted into a humanoid form but was still pinned down by the soft glow of the cross, struggling to breathe, unable to even stand.

"Oh~ so it's the famous vampire count. Then why are you lying on the ground like a dog? Is it that vampires gain human sympathy by pretending to be dogs in order to feed? How pathetic." Qin Li mocked, but there was no trace of a smile on his face. He coldly stared at the vampire count on the ground, then kicked him, pushing the vampire closer to the cross. That small distance caused the vampire to emit a piercing scream. To an ordinary person, the gentle glow of the cross was warm, but to a vampire, it was like the scorching heat of the sun. Watching the vampire scream in agony, his skin endlessly repairing and deteriorating, Qin Li kicked him again, sending him away from the cross.

"So, vampire 'lord,' could you tell me why you've come here?" Qin Li approached the vampire, and before the count could feel like he was returning from hell to the land of the living, Qin Li stomped on his shin. With a crack, the vampire's scream intensified as a look of disbelief and faint fear filled his eyes.

"You can stay silent. After all, with three broken legs, they'll all heal after a while. I can slowly keep you company," Qin Li said nonchalantly as he walked toward the vampire's other leg.

"The vampires won't let you off! A mere human dares to try and drive us out of New York? Even S.H.I.E.L.D. cannot make us retreat, let alone you?" Though Count Berkeley was being tortured horribly, he still managed to say these words defiantly. But it was those words that led to the massacre of vampires in New York, with only a small group of lucky ones managing to escape.

"I see." Qin Li rubbed his eyes and nonchalantly stomped on Count Berkeley's other leg, prompting another round of curses from the vampire. Then, Qin Li stomped on an arm, and the vampire continued with his futile protests. After breaking the third limb, the vampire understood that the priest in this church wasn't someone to be trifled with and fell silent. Qin Li, seeing the vampire quiet, pulled out his phone and dialed Director Nick Fury.

"Mr. Li, is something urgent tonight? You probably won't believe it, but I'm still dealing with things over here," Nick Fury's voice came through, filled with helplessness.

"About the vampire thing we discussed earlier, can your Strategic Homeland Logistics Bureau not handle it? There's a vampire count here causing a scene," Qin Li said, sitting on a bench, legs crossed, while keeping an eye on the vampire.

"As for that, the Department of Strategic Homeland Defense and Logistics has already been notified. It might be because of the vampire clans involved," Nick Fury replied with a sigh.

"Fine, I get it. Also, your department should just change its name to S.H.I.E.L.D., because this long-winded name makes it hard to even finish talking. Once I'm done, everyone's going to leave. I'll take care of the rest," Qin Li said impatiently.

"Alright, Mr. Li, I'll consider your suggestion," Fury responded, lightheartedly. This way, he could test Qin Li's strength while clearing out the disobedient vampires. Two birds with one stone, but he didn't expect Qin Li to be this ruthless.

"By the way, what's with this cross of yours? Normally, only holy warriors can wield it to harm us, but why is your cross..." Oh~ the vampire count had already been thoroughly dealt with by Qin Li, and, of course, if your limbs were broken three times in an hour, you'd be obedient too.

"Oh, that. What was the name of my weapon again? I think it's called 'Radiant Divine Might'," Qin Li casually said as he continued his call, not caring much. After all, the vampire count would be dead once the demonstration was over.

"Father Li, is there something you need?" A deep voice came through the phone.

"Arrange for everyone to come to my church," Qin Li said directly, without any pleasantries, before hanging up. Moments later, he heard the church doors open and looked up to see Old Chen rushing in with a stick.

Old Chen, upon entering, saw the vampire count on the floor and Qin Li sitting on the bench. He casually twirled the stick before resting it behind his back and smiling sheepishly, scratching his head. "I just bought groceries for tomorrow and saw your window broken, thought you might have some burglars, so I came to check. If everything's fine, I'll leave now."

"No problem, Old Chen. Come over here. We'll talk about some things, and you might want to understand what's going on. After all, you have a wife and child," Qin Li said warmly, feeling a sense of comfort. Even though he wasn't in his original world, it was reassuring to see a fellow Chinese person helping out in times of trouble. In a foreign country, most would run at the sight of danger, but here was someone willing to lend a hand.

"Alright, little brother. I'll follow your lead," Old Chen nodded, knowing that if there was no big issue, Qin Li wouldn't have asked him to stay. He sat down and waited.

About half an hour later, a stretch limousine Rolls-Royce, accompanied by several luxury cars, pulled up on the street. A tall, broad-shouldered man stepped out of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. As soon as his feet hit the ground, the car seemed to lift slightly as if it had been relieved. The man was followed by a group of individuals from the luxury cars behind. Seeing that everyone had arrived, the man led them toward the church.

As the doors opened, a group of people walked in, completely ignoring the vampire on the floor. They sat down in various spots, and the man at the front, spotting Qin Li sitting at the front on the bench, walked over and sat beside him. As he sat down, the bench creaked as if it might collapse under the weight.

"Damn it, Kingpin! You're paying for this bench!" Qin Li glared at the now-bent bench after Kingpin sat, his face darkening.

"No problem, Father Li, consider it my sacrifice for the Lord. But why did you call us here? Although we can't threaten you, we're not just anyone to be sent on errands," Kingpin said calmly. As a head of the New York underworld, he had to show some toughness; otherwise, the other leaders wouldn't respect him. Losing face here would be almost as bad as losing his life.

"Do you all believe in the existence of vampires? You know, the ones with fangs that feed on humans and can turn into bats?" Qin Li stood up, spreading his arms as if delivering an impassioned speech to the underworld bosses of Hell's Kitchen seated below.

Arms dealer Nichols pointed at the vampire count on the floor and laughed loudly. "Father Li, don't tell me this useless thing lying here is the vampire you were talking about?"

"Yes, exactly. This is him. Today, I kindly asked a big leader to warn the vampires to leave New York, but he came to my door tonight to threaten me," Qin Li said, walking over to the Count, casually adding a kick to the vampire's healing arm, which prompted another scream. "Now you all see, he's a vampire count, so he can endure a little more. But ordinary vampires would've been dead by now. I was thinking, you all have families here in New York, right? I invited you all here for a party—a vampire hunting party," Qin Li said with a smile.
