Chapter 1 - A Rough Uncle and Lingering Feelings

Lin Ruirui rubbed her slightly dizzy head, leaning against her best friend's shoulder. Her friend, Qiao Tiantian, was also feeling unwell, so she rolled down the window and took a deep breath of the cool air outside.

"Uncle, slow down! I'm about to throw up. I was already feeling sick from the alcohol, and if you keep driving like this, I swear I'll vomit in your car," Qiao Tiantian complained, her tone filled with displeasure.

"Alright, we'll be home soon. Hold on a little longer, I'll have your sister-in-law come out to meet you," the man driving soothed the two young women in the backseat.

Lin Ruirui didn't speak but instead studied the man driving through the rearview mirror.

The man had thick, unruly facial hair. Even though he had meticulously groomed his beard, it didn't hide the fact that he was the very picture of a rugged, rough man.

It wasn't just his thick facial hair—his towering frame and muscular physique made a powerful visual impact. His broad shoulders seemed capable of bearing any burden, offering an unspoken sense of reassurance.

His chest muscles were well-defined, like small hills, radiating a sense of firmness and security.

His arms were thick with muscle, their smooth, defined lines exuding an aura of strength.

He was the quintessential rough man—a man well into his forties, a rugged older uncle.

Lin Ruirui licked her dry lips. This type of older man was exactly what she liked.

She had no clear memory of who she was or where she came from, but through countless missions, she had come to realize that she needed to complete them in order to move on to the next world. Otherwise, she would be trapped in an endless cycle of reincarnation.

Mature men had stories of giving their all for love, and sometimes, even if the heroine didn't love them, the guilt drove her to want to give them a happy ending.

Her job was to carry the original owner's guilt and help these older men find their lifelong happiness.

This time, it was her best friend's uncle—a rugged man who had secretly admired the original owner for years.

Lin Ruirui gazed at the man through the rearview mirror. He seemed to feel her gaze and glanced at the mirror, locking eyes with her unflinchingly direct, almost aggressive stare.

The man instinctively looked away, only to quickly raise his eyes again as if to confirm something. But by then, Lin Ruirui had already shifted her gaze, now looking out the window with her best friend.

Her perfect profile, reflected in the mirror, lingered in his mind. The man's heart filled with both disappointment and fascination as he stole another glance at the mirror, unable to tear his eyes away from the young woman.

She was his dream goddess, the one who had captivated him the moment he laid eyes on her at the age of sixteen. Over the past eight years, she had remained the most cherished love in his heart, the woman who had filled his dreams.

In recent years, he often took advantage of his close relationship with his niece to see her often. He didn't even mind becoming her personal chauffeur, as long as he could see her.

Because he knew that wherever his niece went, she was always with this girl. So, over the years, everyone in the family had called him the "uncle of the family," unaware that all he harbored was a deep, illicit desire for this young woman.

Soon, they arrived at his brother's house, where his sister-in-law was already waiting at the door to greet Qiao Tiantian.

Qiao Shifeng got out of the car, opened the door, and helped Qiao Tiantian down. Then, he handed her over to his sister-in-law, whose expression was dark.

The innocent niece hadn't yet sensed the looming danger. She clung to Qiao Shifeng, repeating her instructions with concern:

"Uncle, please make sure you send my friend home. Take her inside! She lives alone, so don't let her go upstairs by herself. It's not safe."

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of her," the man promised earnestly, as though reassuring himself that he would look after the young woman.

"Then I'm leaving my precious girl with you..."
