Chapter 9 - Family II

Simeon's jaw clenched in determination. "I'm not going to let them bully me into dropping the case," he said. "I'll keep investigating, no matter what." Just then, the door opened and Rachel walked in, her police uniform a welcome sight. "Hey, guys! What's going on?" Simeon filled her in on the threatening message and the tracking device. Rachel's expression turned serious.

"Oh no, we need to move hun," Rachel said looking very worried. "Yea hun," Simeon replied reassuringly "I've made arrangements, we move first thing tomorrow morning."

"So sorry it had to got to this," Simeon said feeling guilty. "It is not your fault love, these things happen." She said hugging him.

As the night wore on, Samantha and Aaron tried to focus on the game, but the tension in the air was palpable. Davon's mind kept wandering back to the threatening message, and Simeon's determination to protect his family.

"Hey, let's take a break," Samantha suggested, noticing the somber mood. "We can pick this up tomorrow."

"Sounds good to me," Aaron agreed, stretching his arms. "It's getting late anyway."

As they packed up the game, Rachel brought out some snacks and drinks. "Let's enjoy the rest of the evening," she said, trying to lighten the mood.

The group chatted and laughed, trying to put the threat out of their minds. But as the night wore on, Davon couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched.

As the evening drew to a close, Samantha and Aaron said their goodbyes. "We'll finish the game tomorrow," Samantha promised.

As they left, Davon felt a sense of relief. Maybe tomorrow would bring a fresh start. But as he went to bed, he couldn't shake off the feeling that tomorrow would bring new challenges.

The next morning, Simeon, Rachel, and Davon set off for their new hideout, a secluded cabin in the woods. They arrived just as the sun was rising, and Simeon breathed a sigh of relief as they settled in.

"I remember when I and my cousins use to come here to camp," Simeon said smiling , "Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I hope you all will like it here for now."

"Or more like getting bitten by spiders," Davon answered smirking.

"Okay, son, time for school," Rachel said, handing Davon his backpack. Davon nodded, still feeling a bit uneasy after the events of the previous night.

He set off towards the school, which was a short walk from the cabin.

As he walked, he noticed a black van following him. He quickened his pace, but the van kept pace with him.Suddenly, the van screeched to a halt beside him, and two masked men jumped out. They grabbed Davon, throwing him into the van.

Davon tried to escape from the van, but the masked men were too strong. They tied him up with ropes and gagged him, so he couldn't scream for help.

As the van drove away, Davon's mind raced. Who were these people? What did they want with him? After what felt like hours, the van stopped. Davon was pulled out and taken to a secluded warehouse. The masked men threw him into a dark room. Davon heard footsteps outside, then the door opened.

The person who entered the room was Victor, a high-ranking member of the group Simeon was investigating. Davon's eyes widened in shock.

"Wh-who are you? What's going on?" Davon asked, trying to hide his fear.

"My name is Victor," Victor sneered. "Your father's been poking his nose into our business for too long. It's time to teach him a lesson."

Davon's mind raced. He knew his father was getting close to uncovering the truth about Victor's group."What do you want from me?" Davon asked, trying to stall for time.

"From you, nothing,"Victor leaned in, his eyes cold. "We want your father to back off. And if he doesn't... well, let's just say you'll be a very valuable hostage."

Davon knew he had to think fast. He didn't want to put his father in danger, but he also didn't want to give in to Victor's demands.

"You'll never get away with this, Victor," Davon said, trying to sound braver than he felt. "My father won't back down, and neither will I."

Victor sneered. "We'll see about that. You're just a pawn in our game, Davon. And pawns are always expendable."

Davon knew he had to keep Victor talking. "What's your endgame, Victor? What do you hope to achieve by kidnapping me?"Victor leaned in, a cold glint in his eye. "We're going to use you as leverage to get your father to drop the investigation. And if that doesn't work... well, let's just say we have other plans for you."

Simeon and Rachel were settling into their new hideout, trying to make the best of a difficult situation. But as the evening wore on, they began to worry when Davon didn't come home from school.

"Davon should have been home by now," Rachel said, her brow furrowed with concern. "He knows we're in a sensitive situation. He wouldn't just stay out without contacting us."

Simeon checked his watch. "You're right. Let's try calling him."

But Davon's phone went straight to voicemail. Rachel tried calling Samantha and Aaron's house, in case Davon had decided to spend the night there. But there was no answer.

As the hours ticked by, Simeon and Rachel's worry turned to panic. They knew that Davon was in danger, and they had to find him.

"We have to go look for him," Simeon said, his voice firm. "We can't just sit here and do nothing."

Rachel nodded, her eyes filled with tears. "We have to find our son. What if something's happened to him?"

Simeon tried to reassure her. "We'll find him, Rachel. I promise. We just have to stay calm and think this through.

"But as they set out into the night, searching for any sign of Davon, they knew that time was running out. They scoured the streets, asking people if they had seen their son. But no one had any information.

As the night wore on, Simeon and Rachel's fear grew. They knew that they were running out of time to save their son.

And then, just as they were starting to lose hope, they received a chilling message: "If you want to see your son again, back off the investigation."

Simeon and Rachel knew that they had to act fast. They were running out of time to save their son.

Simeon and Rachel knew they had to act fast. They decided to take matters into their own hands and try to rescue Davon themselves. They quickly gathered their resources and started tracking down the kidnappers.

As they navigated through the city, they encountered several dead ends and close calls. But they refused to give up, driven by their determination to save their son.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they received a tip about the kidnappers' location. They rushed to the scene, their hearts racing with anticipation and fear.

As they approached the hideout, they could hear Davon's voice, faint but unmistakable. Simeon and Rachel exchanged a look, their eyes locked in a fierce determination.

Simeon and Rachel burst into the hideout, their guns drawn and ready to take on whatever lay ahead. They had been in tough situations before, and they knew how to handle themselves.

As they entered the room, they saw Davon being held by a group of heavily armed men. But Simeon and Rachel were not intimidated. They knew they had to act fast to save their son.

"Let him go!" Simeon shouted, his gun trained on the kidnappers. The kidnappers sneered, but Simeon and Rachel could see the fear in their eyes. They knew they were outmatched.

"We'll never let him go!" one of the kidnappers spat back.

Simeon and Rachel didn't hesitate. They charged forward, their guns blazing. The kidnappers returned fire, but Simeon and Rachel were well-trained. They took down the kidnappers one by one, their movements swift and deadly.

Finally, they reached Davon. They quickly freed him from his restraints and pulled him into a tight embrace."We've got you, son," Simeon whispered, relief washing over him.

Davon nodded, still shaken but otherwise unharmed.

As they made their way out of the hideout, Simeon and Rachel knew they had to get Davon to safety. But they also knew that this was far from over. The kidnappers may have been defeated, but the mastermind behind the operation was still out there

As they made their way out of the hideout, Victor emerged from the shadows, his gun trained on Rachel.

"You're too late," Victor sneered. "You'll never take me alive."

Rachel tried to run, but Victor was too quick. He pulled the trigger, and Rachel fell to the ground, a bullet in her chest.

Simeon was devastated. He tried to rush to her side, but Victor's men were too strong. They held him back, and Victor raised his gun again.

"This time, it's personal," Victor said, his eyes cold with hatred.Simeon knew he had to act fast. He threw himself in front of Davon, taking the bullet meant for his son.

As Simeon fell to the ground, Davon was left alone and defenseless. But then, the police burst in, guns blazing.

Victor and his men were caught off guard, and they didn't stand a chance. The police took them down, one by one, until Victor was the only one left.

"You're finished," the police officer said, his gun trained on Victor.

Victor snarled, but he knew he was beaten. He raised his hands in surrender, and the police took him away.

Davon was left standing alone, his parents gone. But he knew they had died protecting him, and that gave him the strength to carry on.

There and then, he vowed to kill and hunt down any crime gangs.

The police took Davon into protective custody, determined to keep him safe from harm. And as they drove away from the hideout, Davon knew that he would never forget his parents' sacrifice and one day he will avenge for their death.
