Chapter 6 - Privilege

Alright, what do I have? Cheap food pills? Yes! Two Standard Issue Kunai. Yes! Shuriken? No, I can't get them to hit anything anyway. Sleeping bag, a change of clothes, hygiene products, and a singular explosive talisman? Check! Packs of my miscellaneous poisons that are only good for petty revenge with antidotes all secure in air-tight containers? Check!

Honestly, I should figure out how to make more effective poisons, but I'd need manufacturing methods that are closely guarded. Getting it in Konoha at the very least is impossible. Join a faction or accept another teacher? In their dreams. With freedom just months away, how can I get involved with someone else?

Suna, on the other hand, is known for poisons. I'll meet Kankuro during the Chunin exams; maybe he'll be nice enough to share. I guess I have one more stop before leaving. Possibly the last stop before a lifetime of freedom.

What do I have ready for fights? Let's see, the three basic E-level techniques will work with some setup, but against a chunin trying to kill me the substitution jutsu and clone technique are next to useless. Speed truly is key before Jounin level. I have the hiding in the rock technique for escaping. If I'm sneaky, I could pull it off in a fight, but too many techniques can still detect me. I have the botched chakra scalpel, While it can't cut a specific artery, muscle, or ligament, it will cut everything around it.

Shrugging, I sling the backpack around my shoulder before sliding my loose floorboard back into place. It's not like splitting your head or brain makes a large difference. My version just makes them extra dead. Snorting, I leave my room and slide down the stairwell railing.

"Ooooh, look at my little baby going out for her first mission! Remember, if you meet anyone suspicious, let your team leader handle it. I don't like that guy Kakashi, but if you have to, let your teammates do the dirty work."

"Alright Papa, I get it. Never go out alone. Stick to my Jounin Sensei and let my teammates do the dirty work. I got to go now, See you in a week!"

"Remember to eat on time and drink plenty of water, dear. The Summer heat is early this year, and even the Aburame are predicting record-high temperatures. If you can, stay in the shade, you wouldn't want to get a sunburn would you?"

On my way out, I hastily hug my parents and skip out the front door, saying, "Yes, Ma, I hear you loud and clear."

"Sometimes, that child seems so different from her peers."

----

"Yosh! Let's go dattebayo!"

"Idiot!"

'Kyaa! Look at how cool Sasuke-kun is!'

"I wonder how long this will last. Mah, Sakura-chan, are you excited to leave the village?"

"It's just a week and it's for a job, what's there to be excited about?"

"Those are some dangerous words Sakura-chan. If I didn't know better, I would say you're a flight risk."

"What's that Kakashi sensei? Sakura-chan can't fly!"

"It was just a joke Naruto."

"Idiot!"

"Let's get to the client, it's a couple hours running to the capital to pick them up. Just don't leave me behind, because I won't have any complaints Kakashi sensei."

"I would never leave a companion behind, you're lack of trust wounds me Sakura-chan."

-_-_-_

Sighing in relief, I land near the top of a grassy hill behind Kakashi sensei just ahead of Sasuke and Naruto. Wrinkling my nose in disgust as Naruto wipes his hands on his clothes, we join Kakashi at the top. Who uses hands to jump across branches? That's what sandals are for.

"Wow, is that the capital? Are we protecting the Daimyo? Or maybe a princess? Or maybe some super important big shot!"

"Calm down Naruto, we're escorting a Daimyo's caravan to the Land of Honey."

"I knew it dattebayo! The old man finally recognizes me!"

Smiling wryly, I stretch my hands upward to relieve some of the stiffness in my back, "A daimyo's caravan Naruto. Not our Daimyo's nor the Daimyo himself. Just his stuff."

"Whatever, let's get on with it."

Stepping down from the top, I catch Naruto confronting Sasuke for the nth time today.

"Sasuke! You didn't know either dattebayo!"

Sometimes I wonder if things would be the same if they both turned mute. Somehow, I don't think cutting their tongues out would work.

-_-_

"And this little one, I could hear him from the gates. Are you sure he's up to the task?"

"I am a Jounin from Konohagakure, if they can't handle the situation, I will take over. Rest assured, I can handle any situations that we will encounter on the way."

Laying on top of one of the carriages, I wistfully watch the porters check the cargo. Wouldn't it be amazing if I could just stroll down the market streets taking what I like and doing what I want? I mean the Sannin, Nobels, and Daimyo already do that.

"Hey girlie, are you really a ninja?"

Snorting, I roll over onto my belly to look at a teenage porter standing next to the cart, "Maybe."

"Can you show me something? I don't know, shoot some fire or disappear?"

Rolling my eyes, I point at Sasuke and Naruto quarreling not to far away, "Flashy moves and dealing with clients are their jobs, go ask them."

"Well, alright."

Frowning at the kid, I catch a glimpse of a not-so-sneaky civilian walking toward one of the carts in the back. Glancing at Kakashi Sensei, I make brief eye contact before looking down at his hand. Groaning as he makes a few signals at me, I crawl across the carts to the end. Of course, I'm the only one paying attention, recon and be careful yourself, I'll be fine. Lazily stretching my head over the edge of the second last carriage, I find the man spreading a powder from a paper packet on some of the food crates.

Frowning in annoyance, I let myself slip off the carriage. Grabbing his dirty, greasy, balding head, I pull it down with me. Using his head, I twist myself around to land on my feet, my height difference causing him to fall backward while I land on my feet. Seeing him try to get back up, I stomp on his head leaving him unconscious. Some people would call it a privilege to get stomped on by me.
