Prologue: The Catalyst

The year was 2115, fifty years before my death. It was the year that changed everything.

Haru Tsukumo, a Japanese child prodigy who graduated high school at fifteen, had dedicated his life to science. By the time he was thirty, he created the serum—a groundbreaking formula meant to give police and military personnel supernatural powers. Enhanced speed, strength, and unique abilities were its promises, but no one knew what it would become.

Before it could even be named, someone broke into Haru's lab. They sabotaged the serum, adding an unknown substance that triggered a massive explosion. The blast wasn't destructive in the way one might imagine—no buildings collapsed, no lives were lost. Instead, it released an invisible wave that spread across the globe.

Days later, humanity began to change. Everyone gained superhuman strength and speed, though it varied in degree. Half of the population also developed unique abilities, marked by vivid changes in their eye color. But the explosion had unforeseen consequences beyond our biology. A beam from the blast pierced the atmosphere, destroying it entirely. And yet, we survived, breathing and thriving under conditions no one could explain.

Some used their powers for good, others for chaos. Haru, determined to protect the world from the chaos his creation unleashed, moved to America and founded the Hero Organization—a global force to replace police and military systems. For a while, it worked. Heroes maintained order, and the world adapted.

But peace was short-lived.

In 2119, World War IV erupted without warning. Though the war ended with treaties, the cost was devastating. Haru Tsukumo and one of the greatest heroes, Turner Tsukumo, were killed under mysterious circumstances. The world mourned their loss, but for one man, grief turned into rebellion.

Forest Parture, a former hero and Turner's closest ally, rejected the Hero Organization's system. He founded the Elites—an independent faction of superhumans who relied on strength and skill over powers. The Elites grew quickly, reshaping the balance of power across the globe. Forest became the first Chief of Elites in America, his influence unmatched—until his sudden death three years later. After his death, A boy named Sora Cloud became the next Cheif of Elites. He was unmatched against all heroes, and was said to be close to Forests power.

And so, the cycle continued: heroes, elites, and nations grappling for control in a world forever changed.

But that's not the story I want to tell. This is my story.
