Chereads / Divine Call / Chapter 2 - 02

Chapter 2 - 02

Ryūta is unconscious on a little slope of green grass. There is nothing for a long distance except verdant grazing land.

Above, an endless, great blue sky and delicate, white clouds like cotton pass through the sky.

A little grass on the field is blowing in the gentle breeze that is blowing over the vast grassland. The wind is blowing Ryūta's black hair forward.

When Ryūta opened his eyes, he saw a big cloud in the sky go by in front of his gaze.

He sat down in the meadow and looked around him, but as far as his eyes could see, all he could see was soft green grass spread out on the ground. He stands up from his place and looks at his body in confusion.

"I was in a truck accident, right?"

Confused, he scratches his scalp and keeps talking to himself.

"No, it was murder, not an accident."

He walks a few steps forward and talks back to himself.

"I was waiting for the bus to come at the bus stop in a calm way."

"The truck was intentionally turned in my direction by that driver."

He accused the truck driver with his words out of little anger.

"Where did I wind up? In the horizon, there is simply luscious grass and nothing else." With a startled expression, he extended his hand toward the horizon.

"Didn't I need to be in the hospital? But why am I here? Wait, does it imply that I'm dead?" A troubled expression came across his face.

"What exactly is this location, though? Is it hell? Hmm... No, it must be heaven since it's a really good location to be named hell."

While strolling across the meadow, he asked himself a questions.

After walking on the grass for a while, he sees something blue on the ground in the distance.

"Is there a tiny pond of water? But there is something in the middle of it."

His eyeballs become smaller, allowing him to see farther out.

After walking a little while, he comes upon a small pond with a rock floor that can accommodate three people.

On the rock floor, there is a small wooden table with a black landline phone on it, but there is no landline cable sticking from the phone. To get to the phone, little round stones were positioned throughout the water at regular intervals.

"What's the objective of this landline?"

He had a common query that would have come to anyone's thoughts at that time.

He reluctantly began setting his steps on the rocks one by one in order to go to the phone, and as he peered down into the pond, he saw that the water was nice and clear.

He moved to the landline phone table and stood there. Using his hand, he took up the phone's handset and held the receiver up to his ear. When the landline began to beep, it indicated that it was turned on.

"How did this happen? Without a connection cord, the phone is turned on."He uttered words of worry.

The other end of the phone was picked up after a brief beep, and Ryūta was the first to say, "Hello, who am I speaking to?"

The woman on the other end responded with a lovely, honey-like voice, saying, "Hello Ryūta, can you hear me loud enough? I'm sorry, I'm talking on speaker."

You can't tell how old she is by her voice, but you may assume that she is in her 20s.

Ryūta was somewhat taken aback, as he was curious about how she knew his name. Ryūta's voice was full of eagerness.

"Yes, I have no trouble hearing you, but how do you know who I am?"

The woman resumed her speech after hearing a quiet chuckle from the opposite side.

"I apologize; I understand that you're a little taken aback, but you can claim that I am Godess since you're dead."

After he woke up here, Ryūta eventually recognized that he was dead, but he couldn't figure out why Godess had reached him.

He started to have one thought after another, such as whether he had committed sins a lot in his life.

"So, what have I done wrong in my life? What are you doing on the phone, a true Godess, to a mere mortal like me?"

In addition to curiosity about why she was calling him, there was a trace of terror in his voice.

She said over the phone, "No, no, you did nothing wrong,But I need a holy spirit like you."

He was astonished as soon as he heard the word "need" and numerous new questions popped into his head like hot popcorn.

He questioned her, "Why would a goddess like you need me?"

"This is not a major issue. An endless number of universes are under my protection. However, I am no longer able to control some universes because my strengths have been weakening lately."She paused and spoke again.

"As a result, sin has grown, and the balance between good and evil in those universes has been disrupted. I want to make you God in one of those universes because of this."

"Wait a minute. God means true God, but I don't believe you have selected a nice individual; if my mind becomes cocky with unlimited powers, don't you think I will begin to commit sins as well?"

However, Ryūta was also right in saying that as humans gain incredible power, they become arrogant.

"You're correct, yet this is what distinguishes you from other people as a holy soul."

She gave the information over the phone.

"And, aside from you, I have made people gods in seven separate worlds. Every two years, I will call an assembly with them and you to talk about the situation."

"Check behind you now."

Glancing back, Ryūta saw a white visible gateway in the shape of a door, with a gold border around it and a glow within.

"What is this, please?"

Ryūta pointed to the portal and asked into the phone.

"You can enter your universe through this portal and travel to a planet where life is possible. You people are incredibly modern, but this planet is nearly the same as yours. Here, however, magic is practical."

"I warn you that, despite your immortality here, you will still have to continue to live as an average person, and you will, of course, not be able to tell them the truth."

"As soon as you arrive on the planet, my infinite superpowers will be absorbed into your body, causing you to feel tremendous pain for nearly hmmm... an hour I guess. Okay, I am in hurry so goodbye."

"Hey, Miss Goddess, hey, hey?" Ryūta called out a little louder on the phone, but she had already hung up.

He puts the phone back in its place and turns his entire body towards the portal.

"I guess I have no choice but to endure the pain."

He now puts his hand within the portal and lets it travel through.

He only manages to utter a single word.

"Wow."

He passes inside the portal.
