Chereads / Requiem of Dawn: Try Hard Samurai / Chapter 2 - Start Game

Chapter 2 - Start Game

After regaining consciousness he found himself lying on what seemed to be a platform made out of marble, the sky around was starry like the sky he saw in the game trailer.

He was impressed at how realistic everything felt; it was like he could reach out and grab a star. A couple seconds after he got up he realised there was a figure that looked exactly like him standing a few metres away.

As he made his way to it he found it creepy the similarities between himself and his clone. Upon reaching it t black menu popped up In front of him and it shows character customisations.

He quickly understood and got to work making changes. He played around with it like an excited kid until he finally made up his mind and pressed complete.

He was now 6 feet 1 inches with a lean and ripped body filled with scars. He kept his short pale blond hair .

Admiring his work he gave it a nod of approval then directed his attention to another screen that popped up. The screen had two words on it , " roll class" , and a ticket icon on it.

Xavier deduced his class was based on gatcha system and internally screamed. He was not on speaking terms with luck based games as he considered himself to be in the top 50 unluckiest people alive.

With shaky hands he pressed the ticket and a large wheel displaying a myriad of colours appeared. It started spinning at a fast paced before slowing down at a grew colour.

Crossing his fingers Xavier he awaited the results, suddenly another screen appeared before him this time showing " Class: Samurai (Special) , this is the best occupation for the user" .

Xavier was flabbergasted to see HR actually got something good and was in the middle of celebrating when the interface asked him to input a name. After some thought he decided to go with his own name and after pressing enter he felt light headed again and lost consciousness.

At the base of a great mountain that was surrounded by dense fog lay a handsome young man with pale blonde hair wearing a black kimono.

As Xavier's eyes quivered he found himself in another unfamiliar place. As he got up he examined his surroundings, he was standing in a dense forest on what seemed to be a steep mountain and the only thing insight was a stone path headed up the mountain.

Before walking up there he called out for a system thinking there would be one, just as he said it a interface came up showing his info and stats.

As he skimmed through his stats he also found out he had an old katana in his inventory. As he took it out he was surprised to feel so much texture on the katana despite it being a game

The hilt and sheath of the katana were black and the blade was chipped along the edges. "It's not particularly heavy but I still need to use both hands to use this thing" Xarier thought to himself. He tied the katana to the waist of his kimono.

Closing the interface he started making his way up the mountain. As he had lived his entire life underground the sight of the sky and sun were completely foreign to him, and even though it was very foggy he still felt the sun's warmth.

After a couple minutes of walking up the stone path he noticed a weird structure in the distance, as he journeyed closer he saw that it was a tall and long wall.

Making his way to what seemed like a city wall he arrived at the gate. Standing guard were two creatures Xavier could only describe as monstrosities. They were 10 feet tall figures who looked like they were made out of black and White sludge. Their hunched figures had distorted proportions and additional limbs.

Xavier wasn't an avid gamer but even he knew those two would almost definitely turn his ass to grass so he opted for a stealthy approach to enter the city. As he crept around the guards, he walked along the side of the walls trying to find a breach in the wall to enter the city.

Turned out luck was surprisingly on his side as not much longer he found a crack in the wall big enough for him to crawl through. After slowly making his way through the hole what came into vision left him in both awe and weariness.

[ Welcome to the City of Painted Agony ]

What he saw was a massive city that seemed like a world by itself, the entire world was painted black, grey and white. The building reminded him of old world Kyoto and chunks of the city were suspended in the air and tethered by weird black crystals.

But what grabbed Xavier's attention the most was a grandiose pagoda in the middle of the city. Wrapped around the pagoda was a giant hand made out of the same black crystals found in the city.

Xavier felt a sense of dread looking at the intimidating structure. As he carefully made his way across the empty streets he would have said that the city was beautiful if not for the dreariness of the place.

As he walked he saw a figure standing in the middle of the road. He unsheathed if katana and kept his distance

" Sir, I'm a wanderer and got lost. Would you mind telling me where I am?"Xavier tried to communicate with it but the creature turned and stared at him.the person seemed to be a woman with long black hair and charcoal skin but what scared Xavier the most was her face.

It was a mangled mess, she was missing a jaw and what replaced it was a single large eye and where her eyes were supposed to be were there were two parched lips now.

Xavier and the creature stood in silence as if waiting for the other to move. The silence was cut short when the creature made weeping noises and then charged at Xavier.

Keeping a level head he dodged to the side as the creature ran past him, stressing himself he took the opportunity to thrust his sword towards the creature chest but was taken back when the sword didn't pierce its back and only sparks were seen.

Retreating back to gain distance he waited for the abomination to charge at him again. This time he took the blow head on and was dumbfounded to see if heath bar deplete to half.

He used his body mass to push the creature to the ground and used his katana to pierce the head of the creature. The thing was still thrashing around but after after a few more thrust the creature stopped moving

Xavier still felt that his arms were numb so he made his way into one of the houses on the street. Pushing the sliding door he came into a living space filled with old furniture and many cobwebs. As he made his way through the house he heard the sound of movement coming from upstairs.

He quite made his way up the stairs and approached the source of the noise. He found another Weeper standing over a skeleton lying on a bed. He approached it from the back and executed it with a thrust to the head.

Feeling the sense of danger, he looked around the house for any valuables, he found worn out gloves that improved his dex stat and found a small leather bag filled with gold coins.

As it was getting late he was going to log out for the night and get some rest when he spotted a black book sitting right beside the bed of the skeleton. He put it into his inventory and logged off for the night.

After removing the headset he found himself back in his cramped apartment and went to sleep deciding to ask where Natalia spawned tomorrow.
