Chapter 2 - Chapter 2-the winds of revenge

As the plane slowly made its way through the clouds, Serina leaned against the window and stared out at the cityscape that was becoming a blur. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, remembering how it all began. Her fingers gently rubbed the already yellowed plane ticket, a piece of paper that held so many complex emotions - fear, anger, pain, but more importantly - a determination for revenge.

She was no longer that unsuspecting, gullible girl who trusted everything. After experiencing betrayal and death, Serina is reborn. Her world is no longer innocent, and those who were once close to her have long since ceased to be harmless beings in her eyes. She knows that Sherry and Jake have set a trap for her, only they didn't realize that it was already under her control.

'Honey, this is an investment opportunity you don't want to miss.' She whispered to herself, mimicking the words Sherry had said countless times on the phone. Every time she recalled it, an uncontrollable anger surged up in her heart. Sherry's hypocritical face and Jake's cold eyes seemed like a sharp blade piercing deep into her heart.

As the plane descended, Serina's heart began to beat faster. She knew that this strange land in front of her was the starting point of her revenge. She never thought she would be in such a situation, but for this moment to come, she was ready.

'I won't be that silly girl again.' Serina murmured in her mind, her gaze firm and a coldness in her eyes that she had never seen before. She knew that this time, she would no longer be a tool at the mercy of others, but a master in control of her own destiny.

The plane finally landed, and Serina walked out of the airport with Sherry and Jake, the air filled with tropical humidity. The Golden Triangle in northern Burma is a region where the landscape, while stunning, is also full of danger. It was a place rife with illegal trade and crime, and she was about to get in deep.

'This is our investment base.' There was a hint of smugness in Jake's voice as he turned to look at Serina, the smile on his face seemingly gracious but full of hypocrisy and calculation. 'You'll find that this is a market with a lot of potential.'

Serina smiled slightly and nodded, 'I trust you.' Her tone was so calm that one could barely hear any emotions.

However, the anger and hatred in the bottom of her heart was brewing like a volcano, ready to erupt at any time.Sherry and Jake's masks had completely peeled off in her eyes. She knew clearly that behind all this was their elaborate deception, their poisonous plan to bring her to this strange country and leave her to die.

As the car travelled along the rugged mountain road, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Serina looked out of the window, trying to find peace in the unfamiliar landscape. But she knew that this was not a haven for her, but a battlefield for her revenge.

Finally, the car stopped. They arrived in front of a seemingly unremarkable building surrounded by thick iron gates and fences. Serina got out of the car with a look of awe in her eyes. This place was obviously not simply an investment base but a completely enclosed place.

'This is where the main project of our investment is located.' Sherry pointed to the building in front of her, her tone filled with smugness, 'We'll be doing some cross-border cyber transactions here, you'll like it.'

Serina nodded, though her exterior was calm, the waves inside her had been rising and falling for a long time. She knew that this place was not as simple as it seemed. This place was, most likely, the first step in her revenge and the battlefield where she would fight Sherry and Jake.

'Since it's an investment project, I'll take a tour first.' Serina smiled faintly, her gaze clear and cold. She would not easily reveal her true intentions, everything, must be done quietly.

She followed Sherry and Jake into the building. There was a depressing smell in the air, some blurry paintings were hanging on the wall, and the lighting was dim, which made it look a bit eerie. This place didn't look like a busy business centre, but more like a secret base, or even something like a heavily monitored cage. Sherry and Jake obviously didn't notice Serina's alertness. Serina's eyes scanned everything around her, trying to memorize every detail, and any information that could be a tool for her vengeance was not to be ignored. She knew in her heart that she had to be careful not to reveal her whereabouts. Any carelessness could put her in a complete mess. Suddenly, a middle-aged man walked in the doorway, he was tall with sharp eyes and a cold smile on his face. He scanned Serina and seemed a little puzzled, but quickly regained his composure. 'This is an important member of our team, Serina,' Sherry immediately introduced with a smile, unable to hide the pride in her tone. 'She's a very discerning investor.' Serina smiled and nodded, pretending to be no stranger to the stranger. She knew that this man was the key player here, and his identity would surely be the breakthrough to her next move. She lowered her head, hiding the coldness that flashed in her eyes. She needed all the evidence she could get, especially to uncover their conspiracy from the mouths of these men. She knew that she had no more time to waste, the plan for revenge had already begun, and all that was already doomed.
