Annie walked slowly dragging her feet with teary eyes. She knocked on the door and our maid opened the door giving her way to enter, my parents and I were having a good time together in the sitting room but when we noticed her presence, I became so bittered and got up about to leave when my dad's deep voice brought me to a halt "Darla, sit down. I slowly sat back watching everyone quietly. Annie held Mom's hands shedding tears throwing Mom into confusion "Annie, what happened. She kept on sobbing, Mom pulled her into a hug patting her back gently. I was already boiled up with anger as I watched the drama. After what seems like forever, they disentangle themselves from the hug, Mom looked at her again "what is wrong. She wiped her tears sniffing "I want to leave. My parents looked at each other surprised well I was surprised too even though I was glad to hear her say that. My dad asked "Annie, why do you want to leave?. Mom nodded in agreement. She smiled bitterly "I appreciate you both for accepting me as your daughter and treating me as such but I have.... She stopped immediately as though she was choked up or something. My parents eager to know what she has to say persuaded her to continue. She said "I have found my biological mother". I smiled.
"Annie, we are very happy you have found your birth mother but can't you stay with us?. Mom pleaded.
"I know you want me to stay here but no matter what she remains my biological mother and nothing can change that. Annie emphasized deeply. "Moreover she abandoned you for so many years now and you want to leave, just like that?. My dad sounded so bittered. Annie walked up to my parents and gave them a hug "please just let me go, I promise never to forget all you have done for me. She smiled at me but I scoffed at her. Few minutes later, she packed her bags and left for good. My parents became so moody but I felt like a heavy burden was lifted off my shoulders. My Mom sobbing quietly "she is gone for good. "This is the best decision she has taken so far. I said humming happily to my room.
