In the underground cellar of a castle, an extremely dark and malicious experiment was currently unfolding.
The leading mage of the Nightfall empire was in one of his usual experiments.
Using the flesh and souls of the empire's defeated enemies, he was trying to create the perfect magic organism. With guidance from the God of Depravity, his patron, he knew he was on the right track, but all of the organisms died before they could reach even a week old.
Frustrated, Azrak decided to enter his soul space and ponder about what was making everything go wrong.
He knew it couldn't be the world laws stopping such evil from coming to fruition as the barrier around his castle stopped any interferance.
As Azrak was thinking deeply, he realized his mistake.
While he was trying to force the soul force into the body he made for it, he should slowly pour it in and let the body make the soul accordingly.
Realizing this, Azrak noticed a complication occur.
He wouldn't be able to choose the organism's affinities.
In this world, one can practice any magic they want, but they are bound to be chosen by a few elements, making their resonance with those elements stronger. Hence easier to practice and advance.
Realizing this, Azrak decided to give his idea a try.
Over the course of the next few days, Azrak slowly channeled the soul force into the perfect body he made.
Finally, when the perfect amount of soul force was reached, the organism opened its eyes wide.
The organism was in a glass tube filled with a green liquid, keeping it alive.
The organism had the mindset of a newborn baby, granted its soul was completely new and untainted.
Although what he originally had in mind wasn't accomplished, one of his creations coming to life was still a great accomplishment for Azrak.
Azrak kissed the pendant on his neck, thanking the God of Depravity for enlightening him.
Now with him and his creation staring at each other, things were getting pretty awkward.
''What do I do now that I got this far?" Azrak was so focused on his goal he didn't know what to do after he had achieved it.
"Well, first things first, I have to give you a name."
There were a couple of names he had in mind, like 'experiment 1' or patient zero, but knowing this was a living thing, he decided to be normal and give it a name befitting one of the creations of the Legendary Mage of the Nightfall Empire.
From now on, your name shall be Kaelen.
K..aelen, the organism muttered.
Yes, that's right. Azrak stated with a smile.
Over the next few weeks, Azrak did a few more tests with Kaelen, including an affinity test, figuring out his physical parameters, mental strength, and many more. He also taught him the language of the planet Aterium.
Due to the way Kaelen was made, he was supremely adaptable, resistant to extreme amounts of magic, physical force, and mental damage.
To make Kaelen even better, Azrak showed him almost all types of magic and specifically highlighted the ones he had an affinity for. Those being life, space, fire, void, and soul, respectively.
By this time, Kaelen understood his master's goal in making him and giving him the freedom to choose. With him in the last few weeks being fed a lot of information about the world and himself.
He had a lot of insight on how magic worked, with it primarily being used on the opponent through either physical attacks, curses, or mental damage.
One thing he noticed was how healing magic was used in battle.
With the mage always being protected in the back and healing their allies.
Now you must realize Kaelen was a magic creature. His way of thinking was completely different from other enlightened creatures, adding to the fact that he was an artificially made creature. His mental state was shaped completely by Azrak to allow himself to think deeply without any interference and to use magic the way he wanted.
Within this thinking, he realized, Why can't healing magic be used offensively?
While others used their powers to damage their enemies, why can't he use his to heal himself completely?
Addressing this thought to his master, Azrak replied with a smile.
Absolutely nothing.
Azrak was pleased with Kaelen's way of thinking.
"Kaelen, you don't find powerful spells that can reduce an entire continent to nothing or spells that destroy the minds of all living creatures near you better than healing"?
"There is no point in being that powerful if you are hit with an attack that can kill you, master.".
"While the enemy wastes their magic power attacking me, if I simply heal from it all, wouldn't I be the last one standing?"?
