The night had never felt so oppressive. The castle walls, usually a fortress of security, seemed to hum with an unsettling energy. Kade sat in the dimly lit war chamber, the cursed dagger from the outpost resting on the table before him. Its surface pulsed faintly, as if alive.
"This thing is going to give me nightmares."
He muttered, staring at the blade as if it might leap up and bite him.
Selyna entered silently, her presence barely disturbing the air. She stopped at the edge of the table, her green eyes narrowing as they locked onto the dagger.
'It's a conduit,'
she said softly.
'Whoever crafted it left a piece of themselves inside. That's why it's so dangerous.'
Kade sighed, leaning back in his chair.
'Dangerous is an understatement. How do we deal with something like this?'
Selyna hesitated, her gaze flicking between Kade and the dagger.
