The early morning sun broke over the castle walls, casting long shadows across the courtyard. Soldiers milled about, their movements purposeful as they readied themselves for another day of battle preparations. Kade, however, found himself in the armory, a place he rarely visited unless necessary.
"How do they even move in this stuff?"
He muttered to himself, lifting a chest plate and nearly dropping it from the sheer weight.
Kade shook his head, setting the armor down with exaggerated care. Vask had suggested he take a closer look at the gear his troops used, but Kade was beginning to suspect it was a ploy to get him to stop pacing the war chamber.
'My lord, you're up early.'
The voice startled him, and he turned to see Elvara leaning casually against the doorway. Her silver hair caught the faint light filtering through the high windows, and her ever-present smirk told him she'd been watching his struggle for a while.
