The grand mansion stood in silence, its corridors unusually still in the middle of the night. The only sounds that pierced through the quiet were the soft, rhythmic footsteps of a man pacing anxiously at the corner of the hallway. He was tall, with broad shoulders that seemed to carry the weight of the world on them. His face, usually calm and composed, now showed signs of tension—his brows furrowed slightly, his lips pressed together in a tight line. The man had dark, chestnut brown hair, tousled from stress, and piercing eyes that flickered with both hope and concern. His suit, finely tailored and immaculate as usual, looked slightly out of place in the tense atmosphere.
His gaze was fixed ahead, towards the door at the end of the hallway. He had been pacing for what felt like hours, his mind a whirl of emotions, none of them entirely clear. The only thing that remained fixed in his mind was the room beyond that door, where his wife was giving birth to their first child. His hands were clenched into fists at his sides, his nails digging into the palms of his hands as the tension in his body continued to rise.
From the other side of the door, the muffled sounds of the labor were unmistakable. The cries of his wife, tinged with pain and exhaustion, rang out every so often, followed by the reassuring voices of the maids encouraging her.
"Push, Lady Skywalker, just a little more... You're doing great... Keep going!"
"You're almost there, my lady. The young master will be with us soon."
Each cry from his wife made the man flinch, his heart aching for her, but he knew he could do nothing but wait. He wanted so badly to be with her, to comfort her, but the maids had insisted that he stay outside, that she needed space, and that his presence would only add to her anxiety.
Despite this, the moments seemed to stretch on indefinitely. Every few minutes, he would glance at the door as if willing it to open, but each time, it remained shut. His mind raced through thoughts of how the birth would go—he had heard of complications, and despite the excellent care his wife was receiving, he could not quiet the worries in his chest.
The cries from the room grew louder for a moment, but then, suddenly, they stopped. A heavy silence filled the hallway, and the man felt his breath catch in his throat. Had something gone wrong? His thoughts spiraled.
A few moments later, the door finally creaked open. A maid stepped out, her expression calm but with a hint of exhaustion. She looked at the man and smiled, though it was a smile laced with both relief and respect.
"Lord Skywalker, you may come in now. Your wife and child are both safe," she announced with a gentle bow.
Without a second thought, the man rushed forward, his heart pounding with anticipation. He stepped into the room with haste, but his movements were gentle, careful not to disturb the scene unfolding before him. The room was warm, lit by soft candlelight that flickered against the stone walls. Several maids bustled about, some cleaning the newborn baby, while others took care of tidying up after the birth.
At the center of the room, on the large, plush bed, his wife lay, her face pale and exhausted from the ordeal. Her once perfectly styled hair was now in disarray, strands sticking to her forehead as she lay on the pillow, eyes half-closed but filled with a gentle light. Despite her physical exhaustion, there was an undeniable glow about her, a sense of fulfillment and joy that seemed to radiate from within. A soft, blissful smile played across her lips as she gazed at the newborn in the maid's arms.
The man approached slowly, almost reverently, kneeling beside her. He reached out and kissed her forehead, his lips lingering for just a moment. His heart ached to see her in such a fragile state, but at the same time, a deep sense of joy and relief flooded through him. His wife—his beloved—had made it through this difficult trial. She had given him a son.
"How are they?" he asked, his voice low but filled with concern as he looked at the maids for confirmation.
One of the maids, a gentle-looking woman named Lilith, stepped forward. "There is no cause for concern, Lord Skywalker. Both the young master and the lady are healthy and safe. The birth went smoothly."
Hearing those words, the man's heart swelled with relief. His smile deepened, brighter than it had been in days. He looked at his wife, his eyes shining with gratitude and love. "I will reward each of you handsomely," he promised the maids. "This... this is beyond words. You've given us so much peace today."
The maids beamed at the mention of a reward, grateful for his generosity. In these difficult times, his promise meant more to them than they could express. It was not just a reward—it was a lifeline, something that could help support their families during harsh seasons.
Just as the man was about to speak further, his wife, though still weak, whispered faintly, "Let me see him."
The maid with the baby approached her, handing the newborn into the lady's arms with tender care. The child was swaddled in a soft, pale blanket, its tiny face partially visible, rosy and peaceful in sleep. As his wife held their son, she kissed the baby's forehead with love, her exhaustion melting away as she looked down at the child they had created together.
"Congratulations, Lady Skywalker and Lord Skywalker!" Lilith said with a smile, looking at the couple with joy. "The young master is healthy and energetic."
"Thank you, Lilith," the woman replied softly, her voice full of love as she gazed at the infant.
She passed the baby gently to her husband. As he took the child into his arms, their eyes met in a quiet moment of shared understanding. They smiled at each other, a look of happiness and anticipation in their eyes. This was the start of a new chapter in their lives.
The room seemed to hold its breath as the couple began to discuss their child's name, their voices soft but eager.
"I think we should name him after our family legacy," the man said, gazing down at the baby with an adoring smile. "He will be a strong leader, someone who will carry our name with pride."
His wife nodded in agreement, her gaze never leaving their son. "Yes, he deserves a name worthy of our family," she murmured.
They looked at each other once more, a silent understanding passing between them, before both of them spoke in unison:
"Leon Skywalker."
As if on cue, the baby, still in his father's arms, blinked his bright, curious eyes open. It was a rare moment, one that seemed to reflect the magic of the name they had chosen for him. With a soft, almost imperceptible smile on his lips, the infant cooed and gurgled, his tiny voice letting out what could only be described as the early, joyful sounds of approval.
"Look," the man said with a chuckle, his heart light with happiness. "It seems he likes the name."
The room filled with laughter and soft chuckles at the adorable moment, and for a time, the world outside seemed to fade away. Nothing mattered more than the beautiful woman in the bed, the newborn son in his arms, and the peaceful love that bound them together.
After a few more moments of quiet joy, the husband gently placed the baby in a crib by the bedside. He kissed his wife's forehead once more, smiling down at her. "Rest now, my love. Let me handle the rest."
The woman nodded with a tired but contented smile. "Thank you... I will."
The man stepped out of the room quietly, leaving his wife and newborn son to rest peacefully in the warmth of their family's love. He could feel the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders, but it was a weight he embraced with open arms. The future was uncertain, but for now, in this moment, everything was perfect.
