Chereads / Peak Cultivator's Slice of Life / Chapter 2 - Old Man Ling

Chapter 2 - Old Man Ling

A billion years after the monsters left, Asher's figure reappeared in the place where he disappeared.

He really didn't go anywhere, just stayed there.

A faint smile appeared on his face, especially when he saw a small, bright white orb in his hand.

"What a pity, we Dao Cultivators were late to appear in this void. Otherwise, how could those monsters control almost all the resources," he said.

Actually, he underestimated the monsters because if there was only one of them, he could easily kill them. Even the Bloodline Progenitors were no different in his eyes.

The only group he took seriously were the Dao Progenitors of which there were only seven including him or the few Monster Progenitors and Bloodline Progenitors who had such unique talents that they could almost compete with the Dao Progenitors directly.

In this infinite void, only the Dao Progenitors had never been killed.

Their strength was so great that when they moved, their aura could be felt throughout the void.

"Mm..." Asher gazed to the right as he sensed someone coming.

When he gazed there, an old man with a thin and stooped body, wearing a cane, and wearing a worn gray robe appeared there, looking like a beggar in the mortal world.

He didn't have any aura.

It was just that, if you looked at his eyes seriously, you would see the five elements, fire, water, lightning, wind, and earth coming together, forming a boundless ocean.

The old man looked weak, but no one dared to disrespect him in this boundless void.

The Five Element Progenitor, the second being the Dao Progenitor among the seven of them.

He combined the Dao of the five elements to comprehend the Supreme Dao of the Void.

"Old man Ling!" said Asher.

They were very familiar, so he could simply call him old man.

"Boy, I didn't expect you to sneak in and steal that thing," the old man said, staring at the object in Asher's hand.

He could call Asher boy, not only was he much older, he had also given him a lot of help when he was still a cultivator within the Great Universe.

"I'm quite lucky," Asher replied with a faint smile.

"As I promised, old man, you can observe it for 100 billion years," he added, bringing the object closer to the old man.

It contained one of the Supreme Dao of Void, the Infinity Light Dao.

For Dao Cultivators, to advance further is to understand the dao and it doesn't have a short way like using resources. It was only done by Bloodline Cultivators which was why they could advance faster.

Dao Cultivators, if they wanted help in cultivation, could only observe any object that contained Dao and learn from it.

"Hahaha..." Old Man Ling laughed.

He no longer held Asher back as his eyes became very focused when he stared at the object in his hand.

And the two of them continued to stand there.

No one disturbed them and no one happened to pass by either. The void was too vast.

With all the factions combined, their numbers were still too small compared to the vastness of the void.

The time of 100 billion years felt extremely short there as even cultivators in the Great Universe considered it a short time.

After 100 billion years, Old Man Ling stopped finally stopped staring at the white object.

"Impressive, raising my hopes of understanding another Supreme Dao even if it's not the Infinity Light Dao. However, this is too difficult," he said.

Comprehending the two Supreme Daos of the Void, it was inconceivable.

Perhaps the increase in one's strength was only about 10%, yet it practically made them have more tricks.

Currently, there was only one Dao Progenitor who understood the two Supreme Daos, the first Dao Progenitor who was even much older than Old Man Ling.

"By the way, what are your plans now?" asked Old Man Ling.

"I'm going back to my Great Universe to cultivate in private. Although the hope is small, I should still try, at least my foundation will improve drastically, hahaha," Asher replied.

"Hahaha, I hope you succeed later. After all, you're much higher in talent. Alright, keep practicing, I'll leave first," replied Old Man Ling.

After saying that, he stepped away.

With a single step, he was able to pass through millions of Great Universes directly.

Whoosh!

Asher left as well, heading towards an area that was heavily populated with Great Universes.

In that area, there was one Great Universe that was different from the other Great Universes even though they were still the same size.

The difference was that it emitted such a vast aura, enveloping the thousands of Great Universes around it.

The imprint of the Night Sky Dao clung to that Great Universe, which naturally made it much more powerful, even that universe that wouldn't experience an apocalypse.

Shua!

Asher entered into it, arriving at a vast space with a huge continent floating in the center while stars filled the surroundings in the trillions.

They weren't stars of course, they were small Universes within each of which were trillions of galaxies, teeming with life.

In the past, Asher also only came from one of those Small Universes, in fact he came from a very small planet where everyone was just ordinary humans, no cultivators.

A certain event gave the people on that planet the opportunity to cultivate and that's where Asher started.

Starting from the Ten Stages of Spiritual Knight, then Star Knight, Star King, Star Emperor, Galactic Emperor, Sovereign, and finally Great Sovereign. Each of these cultivation realms has ten stages.

Reaching the 10th Great Sovereign Stage meant that one had reached the pinnacle in the small universe.

However, on the Ancient Continent at the center of the Great Universe, the Great Sovereign Peak was nothing more than a prerequisite for entering a sect.

Above that, there were still the 10 Stages of Ancient Sage, then the 10 Stages of Great Sage.

These two realms could not be said to move freely in such a vast Ancient Continent either. They were only small ripples.

Only if they reach the Paragon Realm can they be considered True Experts.

This realm had no stage divisions as it could be said to be the entrance to becoming a Great Paragon.

And Great Paragons, who were the true masters of the Ancient Continent, had three stages and the third stage meant that one had already comprehended one complete Dao in the Great Universe.

For the rarest of geniuses, perhaps they could reach the Great Paragon 2nd Stage, but to reach the 3rd Stage, it was truly difficult.

Without reaching the 3rd Stage, they would practically die when the great apocalypse occurred, only 3rd Stage Great Paragons who had already comprehended the complete Dao could survive the great apocalypse and enter the next era.

In a single era of the Great Apocalypse, sometimes not a single Great Paragon can reach the 3rd Stage.

Even most Great Universes with their long histories, at most they would produce two or three 3rd Stage Great Paragons.

And more Great Universes did not produce a single 3rd Stage Great Paragon.

From that level to Void Master, the level of difficulty was truly unimaginable, not only for Daoist Cultivators, but also for Bloodline Cultivators.

After all, even Bloodline Cultivators whose path was easier only had about 15,000 Void Masters from countless Great Universes.

Of course, for a Great Universe that already had a Void Master was more unique than other Great Universes.

They would not experience another great apocalypse and with many inheritances, the number of 3rd Stage Great Paragons naturally reached a considerable number.

Every time he returned to his Great Universe, Asher sighed softly, reminded of his own long journey.

Even those Peak Great Paragons probably did not expect they would reach their current stage, let alone him standing at the peak of the infinite void.

It had been a long time since he had returned. Although he hid many avatars in his Great Universe, they were actually sleeping.

His eyes scanned the Ancient Continent which was indeed too vast to fit up to a billion Small Universes within it.

"Pretty good, there are already 20 Peak Great Paragons," he said, smiling slightly as he sensed 20 Peak Great Paragon auras.

In the past, it was long enough for him to be the only Peak Great Paragon in this Great Universe. Even he had to pass through several eras in solitude.

It was truly such a lonely life that he felt hopeless until he accidentally found the opportunity to reincarnate into another Great Universe that was much more flourishing. Only after that, he began to feel alive again and it became his starting point to advance at high speed.

"However, none of them have managed to reach the False Void Master 3rd Stage yet..." He knitted his brows when he realized the progress of the older Peak Great Paragons was stagnant.

The strongest were still stuck at the False Void Master 2nd Stage.

Just because Peak Great Paragons had mastered the Dao completely, it did not mean they had truly reached the peak.

Cultivation-wise, they have reached the peak, but they still need to build a deep foundation to become True Void Masters.

This is by drawing energy from the Void to form a Half Void Body with their Dao where they must rely on themselves.

By forming a Half-Void Body, they would become much stronger than Peak Great Paragons who had not formed a Half-Void Body even though overall, they were still just tiny ants to a True Void Master and could not yet go into the boundless void.

To be sure, it made it easier for them to understand the Dao of Void.

"Well, they can still be considered quite young anyway, I don't need to put too much pressure on them," he said again before flying to the huge Ancient Continent.

Because Dao Cultivators were at a disadvantage in the infinite void, they tended to make great efforts to help people advance to become True Void Masters.

This was to increase their power in the void.

Some Dao Progenitors like Old Man Ling even spread Avatars to many Great Universes and spread opportunities to the Great Paragons there in the hope that they could break through.

In the past, Asher was one of those who had gotten a chance from Old Man Ling.

Because of that favor, the three Dao he practiced managed to cultivate the Half-Void Body to the peak.

His strength at that time was truly unimaginable that he could easily defeat other experts who had only formed a single Half-Void Body.

Since each of his three Daos were extremely powerful and difficult to train, the three Daos that reached the peak coupled with the three Half-Void Bodies, his foundation could be said to be unimaginable so he easily merged with his Great Universe and instantly became a Universe Void Master.

And not long after making that breakthrough, he was enlightened to unify the three Daos which happened to be successful so in a short period of time, he managed to comprehend the Supreme Dao of Void.

It could be said that he was the fastest to become a Dao Progenitor among all.
