Chereads / Torn between Yesterday and Tomorrow / Chapter 10 - Who's most Likely

Chapter 10 - Who's most Likely

The program of the Bridal Joint Shower officially began, though the bride and groom had yet to make their entrance. Luna and her friends were seated at a long table facing a small stage adorned with fairy lights and a minimalist backdrop of white and silver, gray and black. Behind them, the sound of gentle waves complemented the refreshing sea breeze, adding to the ambiance of the night.

At the head of the table sat Josh, with Luke on his left. Beside Luke were Luna, Tanya, and Tanya's husband, Louis. On the other side of the table, directly across from Josh, sat Kai, Marga, Jovy, and Jovy's husband, Rome. On the opposite end, across from Josh, was Marley. Occasionally, Luna couldn't help but glance at Kai, though she quickly looked away, pretending to focus on the stage.

The lively female emcee, who introduced herself as Angel, took the microphone with a playful smile. Her voice carried excitement, instantly commanding the crowd's attention.

"Once again good evening, everyone! Are you all ready for an unforgettable night?" Angel's voice boomed, earning cheers and claps from the audience. "Well, you better be, because tonight's all about fun, laughter, and a little bit of spice. And by spice, I don't mean your auntie's overly salty adobo!"

The guests erupted into laughter, with Luna chuckling along. Even Tanya shook her head in amusement, trying not to laugh too hard.

"Now, let me set the rules for tonight. No killjoys allowed" Angel declared. "That's right, if you're here, you're playing the games. If not, we'll personally escort you to the kiddie table—wait, sorry... there's no kiddie table here..."She grinned mischievously. "So everyone, cooperate and make this a night to remember!"

The audience clapped and cheered louder as Angel hyped them up.

"But of course, tonight wouldn't be complete without our stars. Let's give it up for the bride and groom! Everybody, please welcome Meagan and Jacob!"

The room erupted in applause and cheers as the bride and groom made their entrance. The playful whistles and "woohoos" escalated the moment they appeared.

Meagan, the bride, was stunning in a glamorous red halter dress with a daring slit that revealed her long, porcelain legs. She paired it with knee-high black stockings with delicate lace accents, adding a touch of bold elegance. The plunging neckline of her dress showcased her confident charm, making her the undeniable star of the evening. This was supposed to be a surprise for Meagan. All games were Marley's ideas.

"Oh my God, Tanya, look at her!" Luna whispered with wide eyes, trying to stifle her laugh. Tanya instinctively covered her face with her hands, torn between laughing and feigning modesty.

The groom, Jacob, complemented her perfectly in a sleek black suit paired with a red dress shirt and striped red tie. His polished leather shoes and confident strut added to their power couple vibe.

"Okay, okay, I'm officially jealous. The bride is stunning. She is slaying... and the groom is dreamy He's about to get slayed tonight! They look smoking hot together!" Angel teased, causing another round of cheers.

Meagan, ever the playful one, waved dramatically at the crowd like a beauty queen. "Thank you, thank you! Yes, I know, I'm stunning!" she joked, striking a pose.

"Hold on, our dear gorgeous bride! Calm down a bit!" Angel said, laughing as she pretended to fan herself. "We're not announcing you for Miss Universe, okay? This is just your wedding shower!"

Jacob laughed along, shaking his head at his fiancée's antics.

"You married a diva, Jacob!" one of the guests called out, making everyone laugh harder.

"Exactly!" Meagan replied, twirling on the spot. "And you're welcome, Jacob!"

As the couple reached the stage, Angel leaned into her role as the playful host. "Now that we've got the stars of the night here, let's set the tone! First game up—Who's Most Likely? But before that, Meagan, Jacob, any words for your amazing audience tonight?"

The couple exchanged amused glances before Jacob spoke into the mic. "Just one thing—good luck to all of you. Knowing Meagan, this isn't going to be a chill night."

"And knowing Jacob," Meagan chimed in, grinning wickedly, "he's going to need all of your help to survive this party."

The crowd roared in laughter, the night off to a lively and promising start.

The bride and groom were seated in their respective chairs at the front of the small stage. Meagan, waving energetically at the guests, suddenly froze when she spotted Luna and her group. Overwhelmed with joy, Meagan nearly teared up upon seeing them. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed, waving enthusiastically. However, as the program had already begun, she decided to wait for the right moment to approach her friends.

"Alright, to kick off the evening, let's warm up with a game of 'Who's Most Likely To!'" Angel, the lively emcee, announced with a mischievous laugh. "The mechanics are simple: I'll read a question, and you'll point out who you think is most likely to do it. Feel free to react, but remember—No killjoys allowed!"

The energetic audience responded with cheers and applause. Luna couldn't help but smile, feeling a surge of happiness for her best friend. She recalled her wedding, a simple affair in the U.S. with only a handful of close friends and relatives. Meagan had been the only one from their circle who could attend, as she had been sent to the U.S. for a work event. Seeing Meagan so radiant tonight brought back bittersweet memories.

"Alright, first question: Who's most likely to plan a wild honeymoon itinerary?"

Marley immediately stood from her seat. "Of course, that would be the bride!" she declared, pointing dramatically at Meagan, who was already squirming in her chair. "Look at her gown—it screams ready for adventure! Although, I'll stop myself before I say too much." She gave Meagan a playful wink.

The group erupted in laughter and cheers. Luna clapped along, while Meagan practically jumped in her seat, laughing so hard she had to cover her face. "Marley, you're too much! Don't expose me like that!" Meagan exclaimed, her voice muffled by her hands.

"Alright, next! Who's most likely to wake up in the middle of the night for a midnight snack?" Angel asked, grinning.

Josh shot up from his chair as if in a hurry. "That's the groom!" he exclaimed, pointing at Jacob, who chuckled along. "Midnight snacks are a sacred ritual—right, Jacob?" Josh's booming laugh was so contagious that the entire group doubled over in laughter.

Luna playfully slapped Luke's arm, Luke laughing as he shook his head in amusement. "Josh is right!" he said, while Josh exchanged high-fives with him and Kai. Kai stole a glance in Luna's direction before refocusing his attention on the stage. Luna didn't notice that though.

"Josh, I think you're imagining a different kind of midnight snack," Tanya teased, holding onto her husband, Louis, who was trying to stifle his laughter.

Jacob raised his hand as if admitting guilt. "Hey, midnight snacks are just burgers and fries, I swear!" he said, avoiding Meagan's playful gaze.

"Sure, Jacob," Meagan quipped with a smirk. "You do love dessert, don't you?" Her comment prompted another round of laughter from the crowd.

"Next question. Who's most likely to ask for a second round even when their partner is already exhausted?"

The audience immediately began chanting, "Bride! Bride! Bride!" Meagan stood up dramatically, waving her hands in protest. "Not true! What are you all talking about?" she laughed, pretending to hide behind Jacob.

Jacob stood and feigned seriousness. "Me? I'm not complaining, though," he teased, glancing slyly at Meagan.

The emcee burst into laughter. "Groom, you seem a little too ready! Bride, any thoughts on that?"

"I have no comment! Next question, please!" Meagan said, laughing hysterically as the audience cheered and applauded.

"Fourth question. Who's most likely to give up in an argument and just say, 'You're right'?"

The audience shouted almost in unison, "The groom!" a man from the back stood up and yelled, "Because wives are always right! End of discussion!"

Meagan clapped her hands, laughing so hard she could barely catch her breath. She gave the man a thumbs-up. "Correct! That's true!"

"You sound like a man with plenty of experience, sir! Is that how it is with your wife?" the emcee teased, as the man's wife laughed along from their table. "Happy wife, happy life, right, ma'am?"

Angel grinned and moved to the final question for the round. "Last one! Who's most likely to be bossy in the bedroom?"

The audience fell silent for a moment before Josh interjected, "Of course, it's the groom! It's only fair—wives are always right, but the bedroom is the husband's domain!" He raised his glass triumphantly, earning cheers and laughter from the group. Luke, Louis, Rome, and Kai all raised their glasses in agreement, shouting, "True that!"

Jacob nodded in approval and gave Josh a high-five. "Well said, bro!" he declared, walking over to Josh's table. But before the laughter could die down, Meagan pinched Jacob's side as he returned to his seat. "Bossy? You? Please, you're the one always following my lead!" she teased, igniting another round of laughter.

"Wow, this couple's honeymoon sounds like it's going to be next level!" Angel said, catching her breath. "Alright, let's take a short break. More fun and games are coming up, so stay tuned! Congratulations to the bride and groom—you're both a riot to be with! Now, let's raise our glasses for a wine toast to this amazing couple!"

Everyone cheers.
