Logan stood at the welcome sign of the small town of Willow Springs. He had moved there to escape the chaos of his past, seeking a place where nobody knew his name, his past, or his secret. He took a deep breath to gather his thoughts he felt cool air in his longs but the warmth of sun on his pale skin. This was his fresh start, he needed to blend in.
It was Logan's first day at Willow Creek High School, Logan felt a mix of anxiety and excitement. The hallways were filled with laughter and chatter. He walked through the halls to get a look at everyone, that's when he caught a look of a group of three girls laughing and giggling together by the lockers. Ansley a blonde girl with blue eyes and her infectious smile stood out the most. Beside her, Julie with her calmness and thoughtful brown eyes. Then there was Emma, she had a playful spirit that drew people in. Logan felt an inexplicable pull toward them.
Next thing Logan knows the girls noticed his admiring and invited him over. They pointed out his sculpted features and asked him where he was from. He couldn't say that he's been just about every where always on the move in his 816 years of life, so he just stated he was from Pittsburgh. While they were talking two boys walked up, Emma quickly introduced them as Tyler and Payton. They seemed intimidated by Logan, and that's when Payton put his arm around Ansley like he had something to prove.
It went silent. Julie noticed this, and quickly came up with the idea to go off campus for lunch to the diner her dad owns. The school day was going pretty well for Logan. It was now lunch time and they all rode together squished up in Emma's Toyota Camry, it was only a 5 minute drive. They all order and sit down in a cozy booth beside the window. The conversation flowed easily as they shared stories and laughter over lunch. Ansley's energy captivated Logan he found himself more drawn to her every minute. Payton seemed to try and one up every thing Logan said to impress Ansley with his adventures, this annoyed Logan his thoughts were taking over, he wanted to go off and let his true self out. He refrained, he couldn't show this version of him to people he just met right when he was feeling human again.
